Chapter 26

"So do you know who's coming to visit us?" Katherine said excitedly.

"Um. . . Who?" Jack asked putting his tie on.

"My old friend Darcy! That's who!" Katherine said excitedly, "Oh I can't wait to see him again! We haven't seen eachother since we were children!"

Jack shifted uncomfortably.

"Of course you'll get to meet him finally." Katherine smiled sadly, "He wasn't able to make it to our wedding; too much work."

"Ah." Jack nodded.

A loud ringing through the castle went out.

"That's him!" Katherine squeaked before dashing out the door and down the stairs to the front entrance.

"Kath! Wait up!" Jack said running after her.

They reached the bottom of the stairs to see a boy Katherine's age standing in a tan suit.  He had swept up brown hair, pale skin, and a green-hazel eye color.

Jack gulped nervously.

"Darcy!" Katherine yelled quickly running and hugging her friend.

"Hey Kathy!" Darcy smiled hugging her back.

"Um."

"Oh! This is Jack! My husband." Katherine smiled pulling Jack forward to introduce him."

"Darcy Mellows.  A pleasure to meet you Jackson."

"Thanks.  And call me Jack." He said hesitantly shaking his hand.

"Well wanna go catch up? I'm sure Jack has some work to do."

"Yeah sure I do. . ." Jack mumbled.

"Hmm?"

"Oh I mean, yeah, yeah I do."

"Darcy why don't you follow me to the gardens?"

"Sure thing Kath."

Kath is one of my nicknames for her. Jack thought to himself.

Katherine and Darcy headed out the door and to the gardens.  They passed through all of the flowers and went to sit on the swing in the middle.

"So why did you choose him?" Darcy asked, staring at her.

"What?" Katherine asked.

"Jack, I mean, why did you choose him?"

"I didn't get to choose him." Katherine explained, "It was arranged."

"So who would you have wanted if it weren't arranged?"

"I-I don't know." Katherine did nervously, "Why don't we talk about something else?"

"Why don't we talk about the fact you wanted me instead?"

"Darcy, I didn't.  I'm sorry if I gave off the wrong impress-"

"Quit fooling yourself Katherine! You don't love him!"

Katherine got up from where she was sitting and began sprinting back to the palace.  Darcy followed just as fast.

"Quit following me!" She yelled at him.

"No!"

The two made it to the castle before Darcy pulled Katherine aside and trapped her between his outstretched arms and the wall, his face dangerously close.

"I know you wanted me all along.  We were best friends, we have a tighter bond."

"No we don't!" Katherine said squirming against the wall and looking for a way out.

"Believe me Katherine!" He said putting his hands on her shoulders and shaking her slightly, "Katherine I lo-"

Darcy was suddenly yanked back and pushed into one of the other walls.  Katherine stumbled forward and looked up.

Jack had him in a choke hold against the wall.

"Listen you little punk.  I don't care who you are.  Nobody is ever going to love her like I do and you don't get the chance to try.  You had that chance years ago and failed it so lay off her.  Did you not hear her saying 'no'? Don't you know when a woman says 'no' she means no? Or were you not taught that way?"

Katherine quickly ran and yanked Jack back off of Darcy (hard to do with her small form).  Darcy dropped to the ground, coughing loudly with wide eyes before scrambling to his feet and running out of the palace, calling for his carriage.

"Hey, hey hey." Katherine said taking Jack's face in her hands, "I'm right here.  I'm not leaving you.  I'm not going nowhere." She whispered bringing their foreheads together.

"For sure?" He asked, trying to calm his breathing.

"For sure." She smiled softly before kissing him more than she'd ever kissed him before.

Katherine smiled wide and grabbed his hand, her small fingers wrapping around it tightly. She began to climb the staircase quickly with him following her, hands still linked together.

"Come on!" She giggled excitedly.

They reached the bedroom and ran inside, Katherine slammed the door shut and turned to him with a grin.

"So what was it you- hmph!"

Katherine had grabbed Jack and pressed her lips against his feverishly and Jack, he liked it very much.

Jack backed her up against the door, accidentally making a bang noise but they didn't care. Katherine fumbled with the doorknob until she locked it. She giggled softly against his lips.

Jack's hands roamed her body before he decided to pick her up bridal style, never breaking the kiss. Katherine gently rest her hand on his cheek, her fingers rubbing it ever so slightly.

When to the bedroom they were Jack laid her down on the bed and climbed over her, kissing her once again. The two fumbled with the buttons on his shirt before it was thrown aside. Jack gently began giving her a hickey, enjoying her sighs at the touch of his lips against her neck. Katherine hugged him close and wound her nimble fingers around pieces of his jet black hair, giggling softly. Jack's hands found their way to her body again and she let out a sigh of happiness. Pure bliss. Katherine pulled him back into a gently passionate kiss. Her tongue slipped into his mouth and swirled around with his softly, a dance of love perhaps. It'd go from a slow ballroom to a fast tango until they didn't even know who's tongue was who's any longer.

"I thought I lost you." Jack breathed out when they stopped kissing.

"You'll never loose me." Katherine sighed happily.

The sun dipped down along the curtains and soon both were very sleepy. They went and got fully clothed in pajamas and brushed their teeth. Katherine went over and crawled in bed.

"Before you sleep, I have something for you." Jack said sheepishly.

Katherine raised an eyebrow, smirking.

Jack gently pulled out a black velvet box and handed it to her.

"Open it!" He said.

Katherine opened the box to find a locket. She gasped at how gorgeous it was. It was a solid gold and sparkled against the light of the bedside lamp. Katherine turned it over and read the engraving on the back.

"Jack and Katherine. For sure."

She looked up at him teary-eyed before getting up and crawling to the end of the bed and wrapping her arms around him.

"I love it." She whispered against him.

"I love you." Jack smiled.

"I love you more." She said, kissing him.

"For sure?" He said.

"For sure." She smiled.

Jack helped Katherine put the locket on, she held up her hair for him.

"Done."

Katherine released her hair, her hands reaching to touch the locket.

"It's beautiful." She said.

"You're beautiful." Jack mumbled, stroking her cheek softly as she smiled up at him.

The two went and crawled in bed. Katherine shut off the lamp and turned to face him in the dark. Nothing but the glow of the moonlight illuminated them. Katherine scooted closer to him and he wrapped an arm around her waist.

"I love you." She whispered, "Thank you."

"I love you more." Jack whispered back.

"And I love you most." Katherine said, closing her eyes and letting her dreams overtake her.
