Second Year

"Ugh," I groaned as I stared at the schedule my homeroom teacher handed me.

1. English II
2. French II
3. Anat. & Phys.
Lunch B
4. Art
5. Club hours/Free Period
6. Trigonometry

I pulled my phone out of my pocket and hid it under the desk, texting Hikaru while the teacher wasn't looking.

"What classes do you have?" I typed before pressing send. The teacher passed by me and I tucked my phone in between my legs. Buzz. As soon as she walked away, I checked it.

Geometry, french 2, english 2, 2nd lunch, art, club, n chemistry. U?

I typed out my schedule with a wide grin. We had two classes and lunch together. My phone buzzed again and it was Haruhi.

I can't believe we're second years now!! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

"I know right?? :)" I replied, grinning at my screen. The bell rang for us to go to first period and I bolted out of my seat. I couldn't wait to see Hikaru.

"Sorry we're late," I said as Hikaru and I walked into the music room. "We were talking to our art teacher." Beige curtains were tied back on either end of the wall and everyone was crowded around a large white piano. Has that always been there? I thought. Tamaki was seated in front of it, and he was playing a beautiful melody. "Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata," I whispered softly. Momma used to play it for me all the time, which is why I was so familiar with it. They all turned to look at me. Instead of leaping out of his seat and squeezing me to death like I expected, Tamaki just turned back to the piano and smiled softly. "Yes, that's right Adrienne," he murmured. Girls sighed and swooned, all but throwing themselves at him. "Do you play?" he asked. People looked at each other, wondering who he was talking to. It wasn't until he glanced over his shoulder with an expectant look that I realized he was asking me. "Me? No, no. I mean, not the piano at least," I answered. "Oh? Then what do you play, princess?" Hikaru nudged me gently, urging me to answer. He was just as curious as everyone else.

"I-I play the vi-violin, for fun s-sometimes," I stammered. Honey suddenly appeared in front of me, holding out a beautiful violin. "Where are all these instruments coming from?" I asked. "It is a music room, A.J.," Haruhi replied sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and took the violin from Honey. "Thank you," I murmured. I glanced at Tamaki and nodded. "After you," he insisted. "Y-you have to start," I mumbled shyly. "But...why, Adrienne?" he asked. I moved away from Hikaru, nudging myself through the crowd of girls to lean down and whisper in Tamaki's ear. "I only know a few songs, but they're mostly pieces played on the piano. I have to follow you to start." He nodded and looked up at me, his royal blue eyes shimmering with what looked like pride. "What do you want to play?" I could feel the warmth rushing to my face as I looked at him uncertainly. "Debussey's Valse Romantique?" I squeaked, my voice catching in my throat. His grin stretched as wide as it could go and he nodded. He started the piece and I picked up almost immediately. I closed my eyes and lost myself in the music. It was silent for a long time after I stopped playing before Kaoru blurted, "That doesn't sound like playing 'just for fun'. That was beautiful!" A soft chorus of applause followed.

Hikaru pulled me into his arms and sighed happily. "You're wonderful," he whispered. People cooed and "awww'd" until he let me go. I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks. I set the violin down and took a seat at one of the chairs, and Tamaki just watched me intently. "What? Why'd you stop playing? I was listening to that," I snapped. He chuckled and picked up where I had stopped. "Of course, Adrienne," he murmured.

Okay it's short, and yes I'm an asshole for not updating, but I got in a wreck, my boyfriend broke up with me, and life has just been a big frikkin bucket of suck. On the bright side, I have a girlfriend now and work is great...we've just been really busy because of the holidays. But after this week I will try to update often.

P.S. To hear Debussey's Valse Romantique, watch to the video above
