Be My Valentine?
"It's Valentine's Day!" Honey squealed. "I know Honey, I know," Haruhi grumbled, shoving him away. He had his arms full of cards and candies. "Why are you so grumpy?" I sighed, plopping into a chair beside her. She leaned against the armrest and shrugged. "Well, stop. Valentine's Day is a wonderful holiday all about love and affection," I sighed dreamily. "Speaking of love and affection, here comes lover boy right now," she teased, nudging me playfully. I rolled my eyes, but eagerly looked around. Kaoru was shoving a very nervous Hikaru toward me. He had a bouquet of tigerlilies in one hand and a heart-shaped box in the other. "What's all this?" I smirked. He chuckled nervously and handed me the gifts. "Be my Valentine?" he asked. I smiled and took the flowers, gently stroking the brightly colored petals. "These are my favorite. How did you know?" What a dumb question. He's your boyfriend, he's supposed to know, I thought. I set the flowers aside and leaped out of my chair, hugging him around his neck. "IloveyouIloveyouIloveyou!!" I squealed. "I love you too, A.J.," he murmured, wrapping his arms around my waist and picking me up off of the ground. "Aw, young love is just so precious," Tamaki cooed. Hikaru set me down, holding me close as he looked over the top of my head at Tamaki. "Speaking of Valentine's Day, have any of you asked someone to be your Valentine?"
"No," Tamaki answered. "Nuh-uh," Honey also replied. They all answered no. "That's because no one wants to be your valentines," I snickered, snuggling against Hikaru's side. Tamaki's jaw dropped and he glared. "Not true! Everyone wants to be my valentine!" he shouted. "I can get way more valentines than you!" Kaoru boasted. "I highly doubt that," Kyoya sighed. "I'll get the most valentines!" Honey declared. A small argument escalated into a full blown competition between the hosts on who could get more girls to be their valentines. Because Hikaru and I weren't participating, we would be the judges.
Six tables were set up in a row and the hosts were each sitting at one. Hikaru and I were standing in front, facing the crowd of girls. "Alright ladies, it's Valentine's Day and our lovely hosts have started a competition. You will spend a few minutes with each one of these fine young gentlemen. They will try to charm and woo you. When you're done speaking with them all, you will walk over to this table and write one of these six hosts' names on a sheet of paper and drop it in the box. Hikaru and I will then count the ballots. The host with the most votes wins," I explained. "You can only vote for one host, ladies," Hikaru added. The girls lined up and the competition began.
Thirty-five and a half minutes later, and all the ballots were in. Hikaru and I took a seat and began separating the papers. I grinned at the crowd of waiting girls. "We have a winner!" I announced. Hikaru pounded on the table, giving me a drumroll, and I rolled my eyes. "Our Valentine champion is...Kaoru Hitachiin!" Kaoru smirked and stood triumphantly, the rest of the host club crumbling with defeat. Tamaki wailed and curled up in a corner, radiating darkness and depression. "So, which one of these beautiful young ladies do you want to be your valentine for today, Kaoru?" I asked. He pointed out a slender brunette with cloud-grey eyes. She squealed happily and swooned, the rest of the girls' hope deflating. Honey and Mori stepped in and set up a table with candles in the center. Kaoru blushed and held the chair out for her. She sat and they chatted as the hosts drifted off to different tables, entertaining the other girls. I nudged Hikaru gently as we watched them interact. "You think anything might come of this?" I murmured. "We'll see," Hikaru replied with a shrug, wrapping his arm around me.
Did I say I'd post the next chapter on Wednesday? Hehehe, sorry I lied. I've been busy at work but I've got three days off so I'll be able to write on some more. Also, I'm sorry it's so short.
