Chapter 30
A rush of panic and fear shot through Errors bones as he cowered behind Dream, the golden guardian that was the only thing protecting him from the 90's abomination that threatened to kill him. Not that he's one to point fingers or anything, but Error was entirely blaming Dream for all of this. He knew that they wouldn't accept him into their little group, especially Fresh, who's had it out for him since the get-go.
"Fresh, please calm down! Just lower your attack and give Error the chance to speak-"
Dream only had a few seconds to react before Fresh fired his blasters right at them. Grabbing onto Errors hand, he launched them both a good distance away from the attack just in time and made them both land face first into the snow. The entrance to the house where they stood before was no longer covered in white, fluffy snow, but instead a large black scorch mark.
"That thing doesn't deserve a chance Dream! He's gonna get what's coming to him!! And if you get in my way, then you'll die with him!"
Fresh's eyes resembled black voids, with the only emotion showing being rage. Another attack was already charging up in the Gaster Blaster, taking aim at the skeletons sprawled out in the snow.
Error was the first to lift himself up from the freezing ground, the cold from the snow already soaking into his bones. His vision was slightly blurry due to how rattled he was from the suddenness of being practically thrown to the ground. All at once, his pinprick eyes darted all around him, still unable to see clearly, but hoping to catch a glimpse of the golden skeleton. Did he get buried in the snow? Or did he leave him here on his own? His thoughts were stopped short when Fresh began to scream.
"Wats wrong bro? You're looking pretty chilled to the bone there. Don't worry, when I'm done with you, there'll be nothing left but your blood in the snow!"
With every word he spit out, Fresh took another step closer, dark purple magic pouring out from his sockets in rage. Error stood there frozen, his feet stuck to the ground and unable to move. His mouth was sealed shut, he couldn't force out any words to bite back at Fresh or any screams for help. This was starting to irritate Fresh, and it caused him to lash out with venom in his voice.
"What? Got nothing to say?? Got no smug ass comments or anything?? Huh??!"
Every step he took added to the power he showed in his voice. The gaster blaster that trailed behind him seemed to get bigger as the anger in his eyes shined brighter.
"WELL?! SAY SOMETHING DAMMIT!! OR I SWEAR I'LL KILL YOU WHERE YOU STAND YOU SON OF A BITCH!!"
The tone in his voice would make warm blood go cold. The blaster behind him glowed a dark purple with magic dripping from the wide open jaws, ready to fire. Oh god, was this really it? Am I gonna die today? Oh god if there's any even out there save me! Thoughts screamed and bounced around inside his skull, never leaving his mouth. All the voices in Errors head were screaming at him all at once, trying to tell him what to do. One voice was telling him to run, to scream for help, but another was telling him to fight back and take Fresh down, to live and see another day!
And there was a smaller voice, the one that haunted him for so long after Ink died.
It was telling him to lay down and die. To get what he deserves.
And to him, that one voice was winning. The cold was making him tired, he was losing energy quick just by the fear Fresh was giving him. Error closed his eyes, feeling so tired, as if ready to pass out, willing the world to go away and just let him be, just let himself be taken by death. It just seemed like the easiest option, like it was the one that made the most sense. After all, he is the reason Ink died. Right? Right......It was all his fault....He's the one who stood there and did nothing.....It was all hi-
"You're wrong Error."

All the voices in his head went silent as his eyes flashed open wide. It was that voice again. Was it him? No....no that's impossible...It must be Dream talking to him....
Out of nowhere, what felt like a skeletal hand rested on his shoulder, rubbing it almost comfortingly. He nearly jumped away from it, but told himself it was just Dream finally getting out of the snow. When he turned around to look at him, however, there was no one in sight. At this point Error was confused, he could've sworn someone just touched him. The next thing he knew, he felt the same gentle, feather like touch of someone's hand on his cheek. Almost willingly, Error turned his head the way the hand gently pushed it, and all the air he had in his non-existent lungs vanished. He was no longer standing in the freezing snow in Snowdin, no longer by the house of the Undertale brothers, and it wasn't Fresh who stood in front of him, ready to strike anymore. Instead, he was standing in the white void, with only one other person being there.
The skeleton that stood in front of him, was Ink.
He couldn't believe his eyes, he didn't want to believe his eyes. Is he really back here with Ink agin? Was it just a sick joke playing in his mind. No, no way this was real. This isn't real, this isn't-
"Error close your mouth before you catch flies."
His jaw snapped closed by Inks command, a slight yellow blush dusting his cheekbones as he realized how stupid he must look right now in front of him. Error tried to think of something to say, anything at this point. But of course, nothing came out of his lips. A small chuckle from Ink made all his focus snap back to the one in front of him, the warm hand still caressing his cheek.
"It's okay, you don't have to act so nervous. But you can't give up Error. You need to fight back. So you can keep living!"
Error saw how Inks eyes turned to stars as he spoke, the way they always used to whenever he spoke with excitement or enthusiasm. It made his chest feel warm and a smile form on his face. If he could, he'd stay her with Ink forever.
But....something didn't feel right.
The warmth he was feeling through Inks hand, the comfort he felt inside of him. He's felt this exact way before. When Dream found him. God, he should've realized this before.
Error bowed his head, almost in defeat, and closed his eyes. He gently lifted his own hand so it rested against the one on his cheek, making sure it couldn't move. His fingers wrapped around it slowly, as a sorrow filled sigh escaped his lips. He could practically feel the look that "Ink" was giving him.
"E-Error? What's wrong? Are you-"
"Stop."
He didn't mean for his voice to sound so cold, but he couldn't hold it back. The one he spoke to instantly went silent, and tried to make a move to step back, but Error kept the grip on his hand firm. He didn't want him to move, not yet anyway.
"I know....I know why you've been lying to me, why you've been pretending to be him. I gotta admit, you fooled me pretty good, but you should've know you couldn't do this for long."
Error let out a shaky sigh as he spoke, not yet opening his eyes to meet the gaze of the one in front of him.
"You were just doing your job, just trying to keep me happy, but I can't take it anymore. Yes, it would make me happy to see Ink again, to hold him again, just for even a second....but lying to me constantly is just going to hurt me more. So..."
Opening his eyes, Error looked up into the confused, and almost hurt looking face of Ink. Or, the one person who could make himself look like the one he loved.
"Stop lying to me, when you say you're the only one I can trust, Dream."
Small tears began to slide down the others cheeks, the starry eyes in his sockets quickly vanishing, and being replaced with golden pools filled with tears. His gold magic surrounded both of their bodies, changing the clothing he wore from Inks Classic paint stained clothes, to his own dream warrior outfit. The golden tiara on his head being the last item to appear, and identify him as the keeper of dreams he was. Dreams hand still rested on Errors cheek, and Error had not yet let go of his hand. Dreams tears continued to fall as he looked into Errors sorrow filled eyes.
"I'm so sorry....I-I just wanted to help you, a-and I though this would be the best way...I'm so sorry..."
Error didn't respond to him yet. He simply raised his other hand, and wiped the tears away from Dreams eyes. It made Dream look confused, and slightly scared of what Error was going to do next. However, Error only spoke, in a surprisingly gentle voice.
"It's always intrigued me, how you and Ink were almost exactly alike, both in your voices and in your smiles. I can understand what you were trying to do for me, but at this point, only the real Ink can make me happy. But right now, I don't have time to be happy. And we don't have time to waste cause I'm pretty sure Fresh is still ready to kill us. And I don't know about you, but I'm done running, and I'm ready to fight. Wether it be Fresh, or Nightmare himself. So c'mon, wake me up already."
Dreams eyes widened slightly at Errors words, but he gave a small, determined nod for an answer. As he closed his eyes, the white void they both stood in began to vanish, and Error could feel himself returning to the normal world.
________________________________
When he opened his eyes again, Error was back to where he was before. Standing in the freezing snow, Fresh standing only a few feet away from him with his blaster still ready. It seemed like time didn't pass while he was in the dream. Clenching his fists, the look of fear he once had, vanished in an instant.
Now, he was ready. Ready to fight back. He was done running.
"You want me to talk? Well here you go! I'm done running Fresh! And I'm ready to fight! SO BRING IT ON!!"
The determination in his voice was powerful, and also angry. The snow around him began to melt as his own body radiated his magic, his neon blue strings appearing at his fingertips, ready to strike.
Fresh had a look of surprise on his face from his outburst, but he wouldn't back down that easily.
"You wanna die that bad?? FINE BY ME!!"
With a flash of blue and purple magic, the skeletons Fresh and Error lunges at each other, with fury in their eyes, and the same thoughts in their minds.
*I'm doing this for myself, and I'm doing it for you, Ink.*

YaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAaaaaaaaaaaaaay finally the next chapter came out!
Honestly, I've had so much schoolwork that I haven't been able to update or even touch Wattpad as much as I've wanted to. And for those who are still reading this (might not be as much as before, which I understand) but thank you so much for still reading my stories.
It's not over yet, I can assure you there's more to this story than meets the eye, but it will take time to continue it. So again, thank you for bearing with me.
And I'll see you in the next chapter!
