Chapter 26
Time froze for Error. Well, it's not like anyone was keeping track of it here, wherever he was right now. All he knew was that everything else going on in the world and in his mind, from the raging war with good and evil, to the chaos and fury his own thoughts and mind have thrown at him, none of that mattered now. All that he cared about now, was the skeleton in front of him, resembling a beautiful angel, here to take him away from the dark and into the light.
There was no holding back the tears that streamed down his face and no escape from the immediate action of him grabbing onto the other in a tight embrace, feeling scared that he would vanish in an instant. Error had so many questions he wanted to ask, so many things he wanted to get off his mind, so many apologies and loving words he wanted to give from his heart.
But only one word left his lips.
"Ink....Ink...."
His voice sounded like a small, lost child, looking for their loved ones for protection and love. Warm, gentle arms wrapped around Error, pulling him in closer so that the smaller one could envelop him in the warmth he could provide. Errors body began to shake and tremble as he struggled to speak, only being successful with getting whimpers of apologies out of his quivering mouth. A soft hand cupping his cheek caused him to fall silent as his head was gently lifted up to look at the one he was hugging and crying to. A smile, filled with love and kindness along with such a peaceful gaze greeted his blurry eyes, his gaze trapped on such beauty.
"It's okay Error. I never blamed you for what happened to me. I'm so happy to see you again Error, but....you can't give up just yet."
His lovers soft gaze turned into one of concern, and worry towards Error, who still had his arms wrapped around Ink tight. Pulling him closer to his own chest, Error towered over Ink, who let out a small gasp at the sudden change in positions. It only took a second for Error to start speaking, his words pouring out like a waterfall.
"I-I've been trying not to give up Ink, I really have! All this time, I've kept going, kept living for you! But.....I'm just so tired. Keeping up the useless charade for god knows how long as the whole Multiverse around me coming down. I have no reason to exist anymore, I have no role to play. But....If I died, then I can join you. We would be together again, side by side. Wouldn't that be great?"
Tears began streaming down his face as he tried to keep his usual strained smile going, trying to find some good behind the words he just said. He wanted to believe that his words had logic and truth behind them, but his shaking body told him otherwise, along with Inks silence. The smaller hadn't made a response yet, and it began to scare Error. Was he mad now? Is he gonna yell at me? Is he gonna vanish again and leave me behind? I deserve that don't I? I don't deserve his love, god why am I so greedy? Should I just-
His flooding thoughts ceased as a pair of warm, soft lips pressed gently against his own. Inks arms wrapped loosely around Errors neck, pulling him down to the shorter skeletons height for a loving kiss, and he didn't protest. Arms wrapping around Inks small waist, Error returned the kiss with all the love and affection he had been holding back for such a long time. A few seconds into the kiss, Ink pulled himself back and brought his hand up to Errors cheek, making him look right in his mismatched eyes.
"Error, listen to me. I know it's hard for you right now. Your hurt, scared, and alone, and have been ever since I left. Just know that I have been watching over you from the start. I've seen how you've managed to get through things, and look how you're still here. I know it's hard on you, and you feel lost, but with all the choices you have to make, please don't let one of them be to just give up. You're not a failure, you're not a mistake, and you're no a waste. You are a masterpiece in the making."
Error was speechless. No one had ever told him such words of encouragement or kindness before, and it was causing his eyes to swell with tears once again. He could feel his soul swell inside him, with strong pumps of magical energy going through his bones. All the energy and motivation he though was lost returned in waves and it felt amazing, no - exhilarating to feel such strength in himself again.
Inks angelic smile returned to his face as he placed a quick kiss on Errors lips again and pulled him in close for a hug which Error gladly returned. His arms were gentle as they wrapped around the smaller, keeping him in the warm embrace as the smile on his face was the most sincere and loving than ever before.
"Thank you so much Ink...I love you."
Both the lovers held each other in a silent embrace for what felt like forever, until Error felt a sudden change in the air. Next thing he knows, the darkness around them seemed to be coming closer, spiraling around the two like a whirlwind. Error held onto Ink tighter, ready to protect him from anything that was to come. However, when Ink pulled back from the hug and gently pushed Error away from him, he couldn't help but to freeze in confusion from what Ink was doing and fear of what Ink was about to do.
With a small, sad looking, almost hollow expression on his face, Ink offered Error one last smile, before his body started to vanish again.
"No....Ink please no! Stay with me! I don't want to fight without you! Please!!"
Error tried to lunge forward in a desperate attempt to grab onto Ink and keep him close, but the dark void around them had other ideas. Shadows that faintly resembled tentacles started grabbing onto Errors arms and legs, pulling him away from his only light in the dark. As much as he struggled and fought against it, Error couldn't make himself go free, and could only watch in terror as his love began to vanish before him once again.
The light illuminating off of Ink seemed to be getting brighter and brighter as Ink vanished, giving Error a last beautiful sight to see as Inks soft, soothing voice made its way into his head again.
"I love you Error. Stay Determined."
With nothing more than a silent whisper, Ink had finally vanished, but the illuminating light remained and only got brighter and brighter until.
Nothing.
"ERROR! WAKE UP ALREADY!!!"
