Chapter 20
Our favorite skeleton Error stood at the entrance of the door. The glitches all around his skeleton body were going crazy, sweat covered his skull and spots on his shirt were sweat covered as well. Ink looked confused seeing the skeleton when he stood next to Blue in front of the door. The black jacket on him was sliding off his shoulders as he was gripping onto the door frame trying to catch his breath. It looked like he had ran a marathon due to all the gasping and shaking he was doing. By now, everyone in the house was staring at the skeleton at the door, causing a slight yellow blush to be on his cheeks. Waving his hand slightly, he spoke in a quiet voice, his eyes focused on Ink only.
"U-Uh....Hi there Ink, heheh....."
Ink looked both confused and fascinated by the skeleton. His mind didn't fully register who he was right away so while Ink was staring at him, Error felt pressured and worried about what he was going to say. When the memory of knowing Error clicked in his mind, Ink finally remembered and smiled as he clapped his hands together.
"Oh hi Error! Sorry, I forgot who you were for a second there!"
Error seemed to flinch a bit, feeling slightly hurt hearing Ink say that he forgot him, but he didn't show it. If anything, he was slightly happy that Ink had a bad memory at times, because that meant he probably doesn't remember what Error did to him. Even though this made him happy, he could feel the guilt inside of him wanting to tell Ink what he did, but he decided to save it for alter and wait until they were alone again. That would be best, right?........
Blue had a big smile on his face as he moved away from the door to let him in.
"WELL COME ON IN ERROR! ANYONE WHO'S A FRIEND OF INK IS A FRIEND OF MINE!!"
Error didn't know what to say at first, but he didn't get to answer because Ink had already grabbed him by the hand and pulled him inside the house. Ink lead Error over to the couch and made him sit down.
"You should rest for awhile Error, you look exhausted."
Ink smiled as he said this, causing Error to get his blush back on his face. Blue and Papyrus were watching from the kitchen entrance with Chara behind them. Papyrus looked slightly uneasy with Error coming into their house, there was just something off about him.
"That glitchy fella sure is interesting....."
Blue nodded with a smile, not noticing his brothers uncomfortable feeling. His eyes turned to stars as he looked up at his brother.
"HE IS INDEED, AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES HIM SUCH A GREAT FRIEND! I CAN TELL!! FOR THIS GREAT OCCASION, I, THE MAGNIFICENT SANS SHALL MAKE MY AMAZING TACOS AND NOT FAIL THIS TIME!! COME CHARA, LETS COOK!!"
Chara had a big smile on their face as they nodded and followed Blue into the kitchen. Papyrus just shrugged his shoulders and smirked a bit at his brothers behavior. Always one to look on the bright side of things. He glanced back over at Error, a small glare in his eyes.
"Hope he doesn't start any trouble.....for us and Ink...."
With a snap of his fingers, he took a shortcut to his room and passed out on his bed, too tired to deal with him for now. The glare didn't go unnoticed, however. Error felt confused and kind of offended when he got a random glare from the taller one.
"Hey, any idea what's wrong with the tall guy?"
Ink looked confused by his question and simply shrugged his shoulders. The spot on the couch next to Error was then occupied by Ink, making himself comfortable as he leaned back and pulled his legs up to his chest. He looked like a cute little rainbow ball on the couch. God he wanted to cuddle him so badly right now-?!??
"NOW IS NOT THE TIME DAMMIT!!"
Error screamed to himself out loud, trying to shut his own thoughts up. Instead, he caused Ink to jump up in surprise and scoot away from him. He was gripping onto the armrest and giving Error a weird look. No one in the kitchen seemed to hear them, and Papyrus was too busy being asleep upstairs.
"U-Ummm, you okay there buddy?"
An orange question mark and a yellow diamond showed in his eyes as he looked at Error. He didn't know how to respond at first. He could say that he's fine and just hold back what he wanted to say and leave, but if he didn't say it now, he would never get the courage to say it again. Besides, if Ink forgot everything that recently happened, then he deserved to know. The heat in his body began to rise and show on his cheeks. His hand went to rub the back of his head in nervousness. He could feel his bones rattle as he threw his hood over his head and shoved his hands into his pockets, trying to hide his nervousness.
"A-Actually Ink, I'm not okay....I came here to talk to you a-about something....."
The stuttering in his words made it very obvious to Ink that whatever he had to say, it must be pretty important. Smiling, Ink placed a hand on Errors shoulder, who snapped his head up in alarm from the sudden contact.
"Don't be so nervous Error. You can talk to me! I swear I don't bite!"
Ink's eyes shined with friendliness and his voice was so soothing, but that just made Error more afraid to tell the truth. A crash was heard in the kitchen and Blue let out a loud, girly scream.
"AAAUGH!! WHAT IS THIS DOG DOING IN THE HOUSE?!? GET OUT ALREADY!!"
A small white dog had ran out of the kitchen and was now running around the house, covered in meat sauce and cheese. Chara was giggling as they ran after it and Blue followed behind them holding a ladle with a furious look on his face, yelling at the small animal. Ink and Error only stood there and watched the chaos happen before Error snapped his focus away from them and back to Ink.
"Is it okay if we go somewhere else to talk? Preferably in a quieter place?"
Ink gave a nod in agreement. Quickly grabbing his hand, Error teleported himself and Ink out of the house and into an uncharted and unknown part of the Snowdin forest. Error let out a sigh of relief, finally being away from other people took a huge amount of stress and fear off his shoulders. Now, it's just him and Ink...All alone....Pretty much in the middle of nowhere.....
"WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!??"
Error yelled out to himself. He was beginning to have second thoughts on whether or not it was a good idea to be here alone with Ink. His black, glitchy hands grabbed both sides of his skull as he started to shake and mumble in frustration. Ink jumped back from his scream, again, startled by the sudden outburst. A yellow question mark and a light green dot appeared in his eye sockets as he stared at Error, confused. Error sounded like he was mumbling to himself, speaking a weird gibberish that Ink couldn't understand.
Ink knew it was useless to ask Error why he was freaking out, and instead grabbed one of his hands, causing him to cease in his actions and stare right at Ink. The new shapes in his eyes resembled a blue diamond and a small orange dot. They were so warm and inviting, Error could look into his eyes and never look away. A kind smile was on his face, showing that he wasn't afraid or annoyed by Error.
"Error, it's okay.. I don't really know why you're panicking so much today, but I can tell it's stressing you out. You're afraid of something right now, so please, tell me what it is so I can help you...Please let me help you, Error...."
The sincereness in his voice almost made Error brake down and cry right then and there. Small tears had already began to gather in his eyes. He wanted to tell him everything that happened between them, everything he had forgotten. Everything he had done to him for no good reason. From when he fought him in the void, to trapping him in the black abyss, to destroying his brush....to almost....almost.....
Error didn't realize his tears were falling until Ink had cupped his cheek and wiped them away gently with his thumb. His eyes showed concern and worry for Error, which only made him feel more guilty. The tears began to fall faster as he thought to himself. Ink has been so kind to him, so thoughtful, and all he's ever done is hurt him. Both emotionally and physically, he's damaged Ink. He didn't deserve any of the kindness he was showing him, but for some reason, he couldn't make himself pull away from Inks delicate touch. Lifting his own hand, Error placed it over Inks hand that was still on his cheek. Ink smiled and blushed slightly from this action. He was happy that Error had finally calmed down thanks to his help. Error had closed his eyes and was taking dee breaths, calming himself down so he could talk, and tell the truth.
((Alright so I'm not gonna write down everything that happened because you all already know what happened. I'm just too lazy to write it all again))
Before Ink could say anything, Error had already began to speak. He was telling him everything that happened before, making sure not to miss a single detail. He especially explained to Ink what happened to his brush, and how it happened. Error kept his hand over Inks, squeezing it slightly. He was too afraid that Ink would vanish when he was finished talking. Every word he said made its way into Inks mind, kickstarting the forgotten memories he had. When Error had told Ink about what happened in the past, he stopped there, not having the strength to tell Ink what his feelings are for him. Because after everything he did to him, why would he love him back?
Small mumbles of apologies were pouring out of Errors mouth, being the only noise other than the blowing snow that surrounded the skeletons. Error kept his eyes shut and his body tense, waiting for Ink to curse him, attack him, kill him. Ink, on the other hand, just stood there. Eyes wide and mouth agape, he couldn't make out any words to say at the moment.
The gentle rub of a small thumb against his cheek caused Error to stop mumbling and slowly crack his tear stained eyes open to look into Inks beautiful ones. What he expected to see was anger, bitterness, hate...but what he got instead surprised him. A warm pink star and a yellow crescent greeted his own, along with a small, sad smile. They didn't hold hate, they still had kindness in them.Ink wasn't even shaking, he was still, and very calm.
"I-I can't believe you were brave enough to tell me all of that Error.....You could've just left it alone, and let me forget. But....you didn't........Thank you, Error, for
letting me remember.....For telling me the truth.......And I forgive you...."
