James was nervous. He had everything packed and ready to go for school but he didn't really want to spend time away from his mother. Hermione knocked on his door, "ready?"

James shook his head, "I don't want to be away from you."

Hermione sat down next to him on the bed. She gently ran her fingers through her son's hair. "I know how you feel but I can promise you that I'll be right here when you come back. You have an owl to write to us any day. You're going to have so much fun there James, I promise."

James hugged his mother tightly. Hermione kissed the top of his head, "You're going to be fine, I promise."

James nodded, "I think I'm ready."

Teddy was the first one to spot James and ran up to him immediately. Draco chuckled running after him. "looks like you found your friend Ted."

Teddy pulled James into a big hug, "You're going to love Hogwarts."

Harry smiled knowing his kid was in good hands. Teddy was a brilliant student, a bit of a troublemaker but brilliant nonetheless. "Where's Astoria and Scorpius?"

Draco sighed, "Scorp got an upset stomach so he couldn't come and Asty is taking care of him."

Hermione frowned, "I hope he gets better. If you need help I'm available."

"thank you Mione but don't worry, he's already a bit better but should stay home for now."

Harry kissed Hermione's cheek and leaned down to kiss his kids. "I have to get going, McGonagall wanted to talk about something."

Hermione nodded pulling him for a short loving kiss there was no way she was letting Harry go without kissing her properly. Harry blushed kissing back ignoring the sounds of disgust from the kids. Hermione smiled brightly, "see you soon professor Potter."

"bye mate."

Harry waved goodbye before walking to the train.

Teddy placed his arm around his friend, "let's go before the compartments fill up."

The two students ran off to the train after saying goodbye to everyone. Hermione chuckled at their excitement hoping her son woukd have a good time.

Teddy and James sat in an empty compartment. Slowly teddy's friends started filling in the compartment.

Teddy grinned at James, "You're going to have a good time at Hogwarts, I promise. Your dad is the best teacher and everything is so cool!"

James made small talk with the older students until they got to their destination. That's when he had to seperate from them since first yesrs went to the boats. A tradition that refused to die.

James made his way to the group of the other first years. He was relieved to see he wasn't the only nervous one there.

Once they made their way inside the actual castle and into the great Halls the headmistress began calling out names of the new students so they could get sorted.

He scanned the big table at the front letting out a sigh when he saw his father. James really did hope he would be a gryffindor like him.

Soon enough his name was called, everyone stared. James looked at his father who gave him a comforting smile, of course people were going to stare if he was a Potter.

He closed his eyes when he finally sat down. "GRYFFINDOR!" The hat announced.

James grinned running off to his respective table. There he sat in front of two other new students.

One of them had a light trail of freckles on his face, he gave James a goofy grin. "hi I'm Noah, Noah Turner."

The other boy besides him also grinned, "and I'm Tyler
Green."

James returned a friendly smile, "I'm James Potter."

Noah giggled with excitement, "I think we're going to get along James. You have a mischievous glint to you, I like it."

James nodded excitedly knowing this was the start of a great friendship.
