Chapter 4 - First day... cut that. Worst day at school
What is the most annoying thing in your life? Is it irritating, screaming sound of an alarm clock at the early hour of morning?
The constant ringing of alarm clock disturbed my precious sleep. I had pressed the 'snooze button' for three times to delay the alarm for next ten minutes, but now I was out of patience. With half opened eyelids, I managed to pick up the alarm clock from the chest drawer table at the side of the bed. I tried to put it off, but in vain. I had no patience left, so I threw it in my right side and waited for the crashing sound, but it didn't come. As much as I wanted to check why I didn't hear the crashing sound, I wanted to sleep too. Following my instinct, I pulled the blanket over my head and surrendered myself to the slumber.
"What the hell do you think you are doing by throwing the alarm clock? Get up. You need to go to school," someone's voice ringed in my ear.
"Oh, Muma. Just five more minutes," I replied, my eyes closed. I grasped the hem of my blanket tightly as I knew my mum would pull it to wake me up. I buried my head into the pillow and hugged my Tutu tightly, enjoying the nap.
"I am not your muma," the voice echoed again.
"What are you saying, Mu-" I paused at the mid of the sentence when a wave of realization hit me. It was a male voice, so it definitely didn't belong to my mum. If it was not her, then who was it? Who this male was? What was he doing in my room? No male ever entered my room except my brother. Why was I feeling the bed soft beneath me? My bed wasn't this soft. Where was I? Why was I here? Was I been kidnapped? No way!
I was still laying on the bed, hidden under the blanket wide awake, my eyes kept close though. So many questions were revolving round in my head. What if I was been kidnapped? With a sheer fear of facing the reality, I kept my eyes closed and tried to remember how I reached the place I shouldn't have been. Just when I was contemplating my move to defense myself, I felt bed dip at my left as if someone was getting on it.
Oh, Muma!
"Oh my baby boo-boo bear, shweeping ugly, gwet up. I am sho showy I luined youl shweep. Wake up baby boo-boo," the annoying male voice cooed in my ear. This voice felt familiar, but it didn't belong to my brother. Hell he wasn't my brother. Oliver never did like this. Then who was it?
"Oh come on now. Get up, you annoying monster," he said again.
Suddenly, I felt the blanket being pulled away from my trembling body, making me wake up with a jerk. It seemed to cause tribal drums go gaga in my head with the impact, making me feel dizzy. Holding on my head I tried to adjust my vision. It took me a minute to stop the spinning and then I glanced around, finding myself in an unfamiliar, but pleasant room. I was definitely being kidnapped and my kidnapper was standing right in front of me at the edge of the bed. He had his arms crossed across his chest and was looking at me in a way like he was going to eat me alive.
Oh my god! I thought. What if he is a zombie?
But I discarded this thought immediately. First thing, zombies didn't exist. Another thing, zombies weren't handsome, were they? But the boy in front of me was a definition of being handsome. I hated myself for entertaining these thoughts, but he was a drug. His radiating brown hair was messily covering his forehead. His face was ashen and covered in sweat. I could guess from where that chiseled body was getting its proper shape. His green eyes held me prey of its hypnotizing look and his lips... Wow, what a lips he had. However, he was my kidnapper, not Mr. Knight. The only thing I thought I could do was screaming. That's what I did.
"Aaaaaahhhhhh," I screamed as loud as my vocal cord allowed me. My sudden screaming befuddled him, snapping him out of his somnolence. He quickly lunged on the bed and pressed his right hand palm on my mouth while his left hand held my hands, blocking me from attacking him.
"Why are you screaming?" he asked me, while trying to control my writhing body beneath him.
I tried to speak, but my words muffled under his palm.
"Okay, I am removing my hands from your mouth. Just... don't scream. Okay? Please don't scream," he said each word deliberately and emphasized on scream, trying to contemplate my facial expression.
I blinked my eyes signaling 'okay'. He slowly removed his hands from my mouth as well as released my hands. As soon as he released me, I pushed him hard, throwing him on his butt. He certainly didn't expect me to do that.
"Owww..." he groaned in a blaze of agony as his butt hit hard on the floor. His contorted face showed a pure sign of pain and fury, but I didn't care about what he would do to me. I wanted my answers. He slowly hauled himself up, rubbing his butt.
"Who are you? And why am I here?" I asked him through my gritted teeth.
"What?" He met my gaze, eyebrows pinched together. "What are you asking? You don't know me? Did you fall on your head from the bed last night?" He gave a humorless laugh. He reacted as if I had confronted of being pregnant by him.
Why was he asking this way? Did I know him? I glanced uncertainly at him. With a sigh, he opened the nearby door and disappeared in. He returned after few seconds with a plastic mug in his hand. His mouth twisted in a crooked grin when his eyes met mine. I swear, if nature allowed I could sit here forever and get lost into those beautiful green orbs his handsome face adorned. His smile grew wider as he slowly approached towards me. His eyes had seriously paralyzed me like a snake does his prey. I didn't even notice his mug held hands rise.
Without a word, he splashed the water on me, emptying the mug entirely.
"What the..." I jumped out of the bed quickly. As if hit by the speedy card, I remembered who was he, where was I and why. For a split second, I felt an overwhelming grief knotting my stomach. I just wished it was a nightmare. Unfortunately, it wasn't.
"You!" I shrieked, regaining my posture. "What the hell was that?" I wiped my face and hugged my trembling body. I started getting cold every passing second. My dampened blue night shirt was hugging me tightly now, which was loosely covering my body few seconds ago.
"You see, our baby boo-boo bear was dreaming, so it was necessary to bring her back on the grounds of reality," Trystan shrugged indifferently.
"Couldn't you just wake me up?" I whined.
"Look who is saying. How should I have done that? All of a sudden you started screaming when I woke you up and then you started with your mind blowing act of losing your memory. Dude, you are weird!"
"I don't know that. You should have used some other ways to wake me up rather than soaking me with water early in the morning," I complained, swearing under my breath. I sat on the bed trying to steady my breathing.
"I think you are right. There was one more way to wake you up." He came closer to me and continued softly, "I should have come to you and should have caressed your face." He gently caressed my face with the back of his palms. His touch was soft on my skin, but I slapped his hand away. "I would have then tucked the hair behind your ears that was teasing your face," he continued, unaffected. "I should have called you out nicely and then, should have given a nice, hard slap on your face. That would have shut your mouth too," he finished bitterly.
"Slap? How mean!"
"Right."
"By the way, what are you doing in my room?" I placed my hands on my hips, awaiting another arrogant reply.
"How many times should I remind you, that this is my room and I can come here at any time I want? Now please move your butt and get ready fast. Let me warn you at the beginning only. I don't like to reach late at school, so you will have to move your butt out of the bed at seven o'clock. If you require an hour for applying your makeup, then you will have to wake up at Six o'clock sharp."
"I don't do makeup."
"Tell me something I would believe." He placed the mug on the table near the door and left the room. I wondered why boys have to work out early in the morning. It was a really bad habit they had acquired.
"Lois, please change the bed sheets and blanket in my room," I heard him yell outside the room. "Our guest has wet the bed."
What? What the hell does he think of himself?
I felt an urge to throw the vase on the back of his head, but the start of my day was already ruined. I didn't want to add more. Huffing, I sat on the bed in Indian style. I had to decide what to wear, and since it was my first day at school, I needed a dress that would be comfy as well as that would create a perfect impression about me.
I placed my right elbow on my crossed right leg, cupping my chin with the palm. After thinking for a while, I jumped out of the bed and opened the door of one of the three wardrobes. After a lot of trouble and losing some sweat last night, I had managed to pile up my cloths in the wardrobe.
I tapped my chin with my index finger, while scanning the cloths.
If you ask me, it was a really tough job to do as I didn't carry all of my dresses. I had very few choices to make. What would you wear if in my situation, where you had a whole day ahead in a new school, in a new place, among the new people? Confusing, right? Exactly!
Finally I managed to select a perfect outfit for me. Since it was my first day, I wanted to be simple. I chose a V-neckline turquoise tank top, a light beige cardigan and a beige skinny jean.
I need to tell mum to send me some more clothes, I thought as I placed the clothes on the bed and hurried to the bathroom, but not before locking the door of the room as I didn't want to repeat the mistake.
I went into the bathroom and glanced at my reflection in the mirror. Truth to be told, my heart skipped a beat when I looked at my image. I was looking horrific, like a ghost in a B grade movie. My hair was in its morning glory and my eyes resembled to a drunker.
I quickly brushed my teeth and took a hot shower. Blend of frosted floral sweetened with sugared pomegranate in my body wash gave me a soothing and refreshing feeling to start a new day.
It was already eight past when I finished getting ready. I left my hair loose and quickly jumped my feet into pumps. Hinging my backpack on my shoulder, I came downstairs where Mrs. Evans, Brandon and freaking Trystan were having breakfast.
"You are late," Trystan said testily. A flicker of annoyance crossed his face as I sat on a chair across him.
"Trystan!" Mrs. Evans glared at him before offering me bread with a cheese spread.
"Good morning, Mrs. Evans," I greeted her, while taking the offered bread.
"Good morning, dear. It's your first day in this new school. I know you must be a bit nervous, but no need to panic. It is the best school in this town and, also Trystan will be there to help you." She smiled reassuringly at me.
I nodded my head, slowly nibbling a bite of bread. I was indeed nervous, but she had no idea, that Trystan's presence was making me more anxious than anything else.
If you are thinking I was nervous as well as excited for the first day in school, then you are absolutely wrong. I was nervous and only nervous. The heat in my body was constantly rising and decreasing, reminding me of that fateful day when I was bitten by a dog and I was taken to the doctor. It was the first time in my life when I had faced that monstrous, merciless object with a plastic body and a thin sharp needle. Injection! I still remember that moment which had caused a similar rise and fall of my body temperature, led my heart speed and, then that crucial pain... It still caused hair on my neck stand.
I bid my farewell to Mrs. Evans and hopped into Trystan's BMW-i8.
Sporty much!
A pleasant spicy fragrance in a combination with Trystan's manly cologne engulfed me as soon as I closed the door. I buckled my seat belt and let out a huge breath.
Trystan started the engine and drove it, encircling the mermaid fountain. As we passed the garden, I noted in my mind to take a round in there later. My hands already started itching in the anticipation of brushing my fingers over the soft petals of those colorful roses.
We had not even crossed the gate and I was starting feeling awkward. From the first encounter till now, I had felt hatred towards Trystan, because of his arrogant behavior. And now I was destined to see him every day and night. Even the school wasn't exception. I just hoped we didn't have many common classes. Yeah! Didn't I mention he was of same age as mine? He was indeed in the same level as mine.
What was wrong with this car? Wasn't the air conditioner supposed to keep the insides of the car cool? Wasn't the air conditioner working? Because suddenly I started feeling hot. I was feeling suffocated. My throat became as dry as a desert dust. Something was definitely wrong. The rising heat was making breathing difficult. A drop of sweat ran down my temple. I quickly pulled down the glass of the window, letting some fresh air whip my face, but it didn't help much. The stone on my chest was becoming heavier every passing second.
Why Trystan wasn't complaining about anything? I realized it was only me suffering when I glanced at Trystan. He was as cool as he seemed. There was not a single sign of indicating he was uncomfortable. There was not a drop of sweat on his forehead. His gaze was fixed on the road ahead. It was then I realized it was my body heat engulfing me. I realized it was my fear that was suffocating me.
"Stop checking me out."
"What?" His arrogant voice popped the bubble of my thoughts. "I wasn't checking you out," I replied.
He turned his smug face in my direction and stared directly into my eyes. His piercing gaze was challenging me to deny. How could I deny? I was actually not drooling, but staring at him continuously, so it wasn't his fault if he thought I was drooling over him, or checking him out in his words.
"I- I wasn't drooling over you. I was just... thinking," I replied honestly.
"Good to know, that you use your little brain sometimes to think."
"That was a really bad joke and..." I paused, thinking of a better way, but shrugged it off, "Never mind." I was in no mood of argument, so instead I hugged my bag and stared out the window.
Suddenly, he stopped the car at the side of the road. I thought we reached the school, but I could see no sign of school name.
"Get out of the car."
"What?"
"You heard me. Get out of the car."
"Are we reached?" I asked him, looking around. At my left there was a wall and a footpath where pedestrians were passing by, while on the right speedy cars passed in a blur, but there was no sign of 'Joseph Sanford's Academy'.
"No and that doesn't matter either. You are getting out of my car right now," he said with a cold determination. I couldn't digest, that he was actually serious about leaving me there.
"That means you want to leave me at the mid of the way? No! I am not getting out of the car. I don't know this place. I don't know where the freaking school is."
"Ask any by passers. They will tell you. Now please don't waste my time. Get the hell out of my car," he shrugged.
"What have I done? I didn't argue with you. I didn't even snap back which I swear I am feeling to do right at the moment." If I was on the verge of shedding my tears, I didn't let him know it. I was trying my hard not to snap back.
"Then do it, because that won't harm me. But you see I have my impression in school which I don't want to ruin simply because of you."
"Hell with your impression. You should have said it before hand. Some other arrangements could have done. No, I am not getting out of the car. You are dropping me to school. That's it." I glared at him, unflinching. I hugged my bag tightly and rooted my feet to the ground; I seriously wished it was possible to do so. He cringed at my patronizing behavior, but covered it with a derisive laugh.
"Kiera," he whispered huskily. I felt a tinge of danger in the way he said my name. "Don't test my patience."
"Are you threatening me? Try it." I narrowed my eyes at him.
He grinned wickedly. His eyes held a glint I couldn't decipher, but my inner voice screamed he is a danger. I had a really bad feeling about this.
"Don't try to start something you can't finish, Kiera," he whispered, his grin widening in mock.
Okay, now I could really feel the heat. To be frank, I wasn't much brave.
He leaned in closer to me, exactly knowing my fear. He stopped mere inches from my face.
"Back off," I hissed and pushed his chest. He didn't even budge his muscles to my futile attempt.
His green eyes bore dangerously into mine holding me hostage. For the first time since our first encounter, I noticed that in the midst of his intense green eyes, there were flecks of bronze and gold. He was this close. It occurred to me that I really shouldn't be staring at him, but I found I couldn't actually bring myself to look away, either; my breath caught in my throat as I realized he leaned in even more, hovering his lips over mine. I could feel my heart racing in my chest.
Yay! I was going to have a very healthy heart. Note heavy sarcasm.
I backed off in my seat until there was no escape, my back pressed to the door. He cornered me to the window and slipped his right hand around my waist. His minty breath fanned my face intoxicating my senses. His gaze dropped to my lips. The tension forming in the car was so thick, I almost stopped breathing.
Was he going to kiss me? Panic rose in me.
"I can be very mean, Kiera," he whispered over my lips and smirked.
The next thing I knew I was on my butt on the footpath.
I didn't realize what he was doing, until my ass hit the ground hard. I mean really hard. He had tricked me. He diverted my attention and in that instant unbuckled the seatbelt and unlocked the car door, throwing me out on my butt. My bag followed me too.
"This is a payback for the morning hunt and yeah, best of luck for the first day in new school." He closed the door and drew away.
For the few seconds, I remained dazed. The shooting pain in my ass reminded me the reality of being on footpath. I quickly stood up.
"You rascal, scoundrel, you... you..." I ran out of insults as I didn't have the variety of them. "I'll kill you." I stomped my foot on the ground.
By passers gave me weird looks which purely implied, that they thought I was some insane.
Great! Simply great!
Trystan was surely proving me insane. The day wasn't too far when I would actually get insane.
I dusted my pant and top. Now, I had a big trouble waiting ahead. It was 8:20am. I had left only ten minutes to reach to school and register my name. And I freaking had no idea in which direction to proceed.
Alright, I had these tasks to do now.
First, find the school.
Secondly, try to reach there before 8:30am.
And lastly, plan revenge against that ass, that freaking Trystan Evans.
But I couldn't understand how to proceed as I was in the middle of... I didn't know where...
AN: That was too bad. Poor Kiera! What will she do now? Will she be able to find where the school is and make it to reach before 8.30am? I highly doubt so ;) What do you think? Let me know it, okies my lovelies.
And also thanks for the votes and comments :)
