Surprises

Okay guys this is a chapter for Sweety1711, she is a lovely follower and a really sweet girl so I wanted to do something for her and this is the result.

Thirdperson's POV

Annabeth was reading on the porch of the big house. She had started doing that after the war with Gaea. It wasn’t because of the security of the house or being near Chiron or Mr. D (that was still obnoxious by the way), no it was because if anything happened, everyone would rush here.

You can say that she had gotten a little paranoid but it calmed her head and the book in her hands always seemed to disconnect her from the world. Once again it wasn’t because she hated being a demigod or hated the gods, no it was because she was tired. She had tried so hard for so long that something inside her had snapped.

“Hey wise girl?” Percy came up to the big house. He had surfer shorts on and a white V-neck. He was barefoot and Annabeth wanted to tell him to put on shoes, she didn’t though.

“What is it seaweed brain?” she placed her bookmark, a feather from a white owl, and then looked up at her boyfriend.

“I want to show you something.”

“Does it involve swords, fighting or staring at Jason and Piper while they are fighting?” She  asked with a sigh as she placed the book on one of the chairs by the door.

“That is technically a fight too and no. This is going to be perfect.” Percy’s hands were warm and kind of sweaty but Annabeth just smiled and took it. It was after all a good thing that Percy was sweating, it meant that he was nervous and that he really wasn’t tricking her into see some young camper fight with Clarisse in the arena.

   “Does it involve Nico?”

Even though Nico had confessed his feelings for Percy and then moved on too Will Solace, Percy was still friends with him, Nico that is. It was both for the good and the bad, good because Nico needed friends and someone to talk too. Bad because Percy tried so hard that he almost invited Nico to everything he did, including dates with Annabeth.

“No, not this time.” Percy chuckled softly. “Are you trying to get me to tell you the surprise? It will ruin everything.”

“Well I’m nervous. You usually just take me out of ice cream or we go to the beach and kiss and cuddle. This isn’t like you and you are kind of scaring me.”

“No need to be scared.” Percy let go of Annabeth’s hand just to put his arm around her shoulders.

   “I don’t believe you.”

“Okay well I will tell you that Blackjack has helped me.”

   “Not that Pegasus!” Annabeth complained.

“What?! He is sweet and funny plus he really wanted to help.”

“You know I hate riding him.”

“Not when I’m with you.” He kissed her blushing cheeks.

They walked through the camp, not in the direction to the stables. The cabins were soon around them and you could here everybody talking and screaming and laughing.

They camp had survived and lived happily now after the war. It was a rough couple of weeks in the beginning, the repairs and the healing of the sick. Camp Half-Blood pulled through and even though they lost many lives and friends they could still sit around the campfire and sing stupid songs or play capture the flag.

When the couple got near the Apollo cabin the door flung open and the Apollo kids tumbled out holding instruments. Annabeth had a feeling that this was rehearsed.

With Will Solace as the lead singer the “band” started singing Just For You by Peter Green. The blush on Annabeth’s cheeks grew, now she wasn’t a blusher but every camper stared at her, what happened to strong Annabeth that never hid behind anyone? Well you could say that she tripped and took a vacation in Tartarus, the new Annabeth was still strong and wasn’t she shyest person to live on earth but she was uncomfortable being the center of attention. That was just one of many side effects that Annabeth had gotten from the war.

There is no gift on earth

That I could give you

I find myself just longing

To be with you

Percy pulled her along and the band followed, the little group went to the woods. First Annabeth thought that Percy would take her to Zeus fist but then he just stopped and stood on the edge of the forest. The tall trees made shadows on Percy’s form and the green leaves made his eyes stand out. He really was something from outer space.

“Are you ready?” he asked while the band started singing I’ll Be Loving You Forever by Westlife.

I’ll be loving you forever,

Deep inside my heart you'll leave me never,

Even if you took my heart,

And tore it apart,

I would love you still, forever

“How long are they going to sing?” She asked and stared at Will until he started to move uncomfortably, not losing a beat in the song but still uncomfortable.

“They only know three songs but they will stop when Blackjack get’s here.” Percy said with a wink.

Before she could blink the Apollo kids dropped their instruments (lowered them safely to the ground, they would never hurt a instrument just like Annabeth would never just drop a book).

They paired up, leaving poor Will alone at the front of the formation. Then the started to dance, it began with a slow waltz, the guys leading and the girls swirling from time to time. Then at the last spin the girls paired up and started dancing alone, the guys sat down and starred amazed.

The girls danced ballet, not the real kind since you had to train for years to make it perfect, but it was just like ballet except that they didn’t do it on their tiptoes. The girls went up in a arabesque and then down to finish of with a brisé. Then they changed with the boys, they started to slow dance, each giving of a goofy grin, some whispered to each other while some just laughed.

Then with a change of song, to something Annabeth had never heard before, the guys started dancing some sort of Samba. It was slower and instead of pairs they stood separate for a while. Then the girls joined in, even if Annabeth didn’t know much about Samba or dancing for that matter, it looked beautiful and matched the song.

Then she heard a thump behind her and there stood Blackjack, his wings raised high. Percy who had also lost himself in the dance before him helped her up and waved goodbye to the still singing and dancing Apollo kids.

The sky up here was cool and chilled Annabeth a bit, she didn’t mind though since Percy’s arms were around her waist and he was leaning his head on her shoulder.

   “Were exactly are we going?”

   “Home.”

“I don’t think Sally would appreciate it.” Annabeth laughed.

“No, not mom’s house, we’re just going home.”

Annabeth didn’t know what to say so they rode in silence, seeing birds and clouds pass them by, the landscape underneath them turned from the strawberry fields, to the countryside to New York’s streets.

Blackjack continued to fly without resting, Ananbeth was getting worried about the Pegasus, but when she was going to comment he took a sharp turn and then started to lower himself. They had once again reached the countryside, going back a bit, Annabeth thought that was because Percy just wanted to see his home for a second.

★★★★★

“Percy this is to much!” they had hiked for a while letting Blackjack rest and munch on the grass in the clearing. They were once again in the woods by Camp Half-Blood. It wasn’t dark or scary like Chiron always says it is, it was nice and quiet and they could here different birds sing along to each other.

“No, it’s perfect.” He said in a whisper.

In the clearing of the woods, there stood a hut. It looked just like Damasen’s hut but instead of the swamp and drakon skulls and a drakon rushing to kill them there was the forest and a few tree nymphs that roamed the clearing.

Annabeth walked in and it really looked like Damasen’s hut but now adjusted to fit the two demigods instead of a giant.

   “How long?”

“I started the day after the war. I had trouble sleeping and well I just couldn’t forget about him or Bob.” Percy said sinking down on the bed.

“I love you seaweed brain.” Annabeth leaned down to kiss him.

“Love you too, I would do anything for you.” Percy returned the kiss.

That night they officially moved in, with no worries about the future, they could do anything if they just set their minds to it but for now they would grieve their friends and live happily in the woods.
