A Dramatic Entrance

1. Good Time by Owl City ft. Carly Rae Jepsen

Apologies for taking literally a month to update. I've had a lot going on, and I am officially abandoning my update schedule. But I will do it as much as I can. If you get bored of this not being updated, please check out one of my other fanfics! First check out my Niall AU titled "Why Don't We Go There", or my Harry fic titled "The Case File" which is a mystery novel that I absolutely love writing.
"Hey!" I heard Taylor say as she wrapped her ams around me in a bone-crushing hug as soon as she saw me at the airport, Niall trailing behind me as I ran up to Taylor with open arms. And I thought Niall's hugs were tight. She pulled away only to let her hands rest on my shoulder while she took in my appearance. I made a funny face as she scanned me up and down.
I asked my best friend, "What are you doing?"
She tapped her lip with her pointer finger in a thinking face. "Hmm," she mused. "I think you look a little different than last time I saw you."
This made me confused, and Taylor could tell. She shook her head and mumbled, "Nothing." I shook it off as we made our way out of LAX. Cameras flashed left and right as the automatic doors slid open.
Men and women yelled questions from everywhere. "Where's Lilly?" "How was your trip?" "Are you Engaged?" I found the last one stupid because I was obviously not wearing a ring. We piled into the car Taylor led us to, which turned out Harry was driving. As soon as the does were closed, I felt a little body flung against mine.
Lilly greeted into my shoulder, "Hi, Rosie," her arms still wrapped around my neck. I laughed and smiled, "Hi, Lilly. Did Harry and Louis take good care of you?"
She nodded, scooting over to sit in Niall's lap. Ecstatically, she described, "We went to this really cool theme park and I have a wooden stick called a wand, like a wizard! And we met minions from Despicable Me!" Her face lit up with excitement of the memories. In fact, she was bouncing up and down.
Niall tousled her hair and responded, "That's great, Angel. Did you miss us?" He pushed out his lower lip, giving her a puppy dog face.
"Yes, Nilla!" She giggled and poked his cheek.
Harry commented from the front seat, "She has also taken quite the affinity to pickles. Don't know why. Louis was eating them and she tried one and ate the entire jar after."
Once he mentioned it, Lilly asked with wide eyes, "Can I have some with dinner tonight?"
Everyone laughed and Taylor told us how she arrived yesterday and she gave her stamp of approval to Harry and Louis babysitting. Liam went to California during the break to visit his girlfriend, who was shooting a television show there. Harry, Louis, and the rest of the crew along with Lilly took the buses to Cali. "It was so sweet to see Harry with a kid," Taylor whispered to me. "He looked so happy."
Their relationship was taking a turn for the better. It was nice to finally hear Taylor get the possibility of having a happily-ever-after.
Later that night, after dinner, Taylor and I decided to share a room for catching up. Harry and Niall grumbled a bit at the idea, but dealt with it. Once we got settled in and changed into pajamas, we busted out the guitars and songwriting notebooks. Lilly was fast asleep in the second bedroom of the suite, and thankfully the walls were fairly soundproof.
A couple of weeks ago, Taylor and I decided to secretly work on some music together. That I could possibly write for her. She accidentally saw my notebook once and loved it, so I figured why not.
I introduced one of my latest songs to her, "So I wrote this while in Ireland. I was in such a good mood and had to put it in words. I haven't exactly figured out the instrumental part yet, so maybe you can help me." She nodded.
I did a little countdown in my head then softly sang,
"My heart, my soul, I was living on my own.
Thought my life was down, head drowned.
Trudging on with normal days.
That was, until you came, you brightened up my day..."
I finished it up and Taylor was writing down notes on her blank music sheet. "Okay," she pinned the pencil in her ponytail. "So I feel like a piano and guitar duo could do this really well, I wrote down possible chords."
Grabbing my guitar and placing it in my lap, I plucked the chords and nodded, liking the sound of it. It was melodic and sad, but it built up by the time of the happier chorus.
We worked here and there for a few hours and recorded some demos on Taylor's phone. "You know, I feel like that song sort of has those eerie Sia vibes. I like it," she finally said about the song.
I grinned, "I sort of felt that too. I don't know who we can make it more 'Taylor-esque' but we will. I also have that song that Niall sent you the video of from the club in Nashville."
She nodded, and replied, yawning in the process,"Yeah, you told me we could work with that."
We were both exhausted from the day and working late, so we went to bed, where I was out as soon as I felt the soft comforters.

Tonight was the night of the American Music Awards. About a month ago, Niall told me he wanted to take me as his unofficial date for the red carpet, which was amazing. It was unofficial because technically the boys had to go 'alone', so I planned to hitch a ride with Taylor and Even a designer who was on project runway asked if she could design my dress. I could not turn that down. She was bringing the dress over today and was going to make minor alterations if needed. We decided to meet at her studio downtown. I got up extra early to get ready. Taylor agreed last night to watch Lilly for the few hours.
I knocked on the door of the small studio which was tucked between a sub shop and a f.y.e. store. Candice let me in a few seconds later, and she brought me into the main area.
That's when I saw the dress. It was beautiful - made of black silk and mesh, with ribbons going down the back and arms. I felt the fabric gingerly, smoothing my fingers over the intricate pattern. (see picture, imagine with long sleeves)
"It's so elegant, thank you," I expressed.
Candice clapped her hands together and squealed. "I'm happy you like it, now let's get you in it."
She helped me slip on the dress. Once it was on, it was as if they melted the fabric onto me, it was that perfect. "It also has a built in bra so you don't have to worry about that," she informed me.
I stood on the small pedestal in front of the mirror in awe. I felt better than ever. "I really can't stop saying how amazing this is, thank you so much," I kept gushing.
Candice took a picture of me so that after the show she could post it on her website and Instagram. I paid for the dress, which cost surprisingly less than I expected for something of this quality.
Soon enough, the appointment was over, and I had to, sadly, put back on my regular clothes. I carried the garment bag which contained the spectacle with care and hung it in the rental car. I drove back to the hotel, giddy from the excitement of the dress.
I got up to Taylor and my room to see her playing dolls with Lilly on the floor. What was even funnier was that Taylor was holding a doll of herself. And guess what else? Harry was sitting next to them holding a doll of himself.
I quickly hung up the dress in the closet and heard snippets of their dolls' conversations.
"Ahh!" Harry fake screamed in a high-pitched voice. "Don't pull my hair, Lilly! That hurts!"
Little giggled erupted from Lilly as she replied, "I'm sorry. Maybe Taylor will kiss it better?"
I looked up and saw Taylor video taping this encounter, tapping her phone as she put it on Instagram.
"Hey guys," I said, sitting down on the couch. Taylor grinned at me. "Got the dress?" she asked curiously.
I returned the gesture. "Yes, and oh my God, it is so beautiful. I can't wait for tonight." And it was not a lie. Lilly was going too under the protection of one of Niall's body guards.
"Me too," Taylor replied. "I got my dress a few days ago, it's going to be stunning, riskier than I've ever worn before."
"Yeah," Harry cut in, with a posh, girly accent, "And it's, like, sparkling, and it will catch the lights. Rose, it's the best thing since sliced bread!"
Then in his normal, deep voice, he added, "She won't tell me anything about it, wants it to be a surprise." I nodded in understanding. I was going to do the same with Niall.
Soon, Harry left and Lou and Lottie came in, doing our hair and makeup for the occasion. It was almost time to hit the red carpet. All three women 'ooh'ed and 'ah'ed at the dress, as I ogled at Taylor's. She wasn't exactly wrong when she said it was a risk.
Hope that was an okay filler!
All the love,
Juliet
