June P.o.v

I went to my room and closed the door, still not believing what just happened. I couldn't stop smiling. Suddenly I heard a bang on the door. I opened the door and Becky was standing in front of me.

What the hell of June?  If you and Andrew didn't wanna eat then you could have just told me, we could have gone to some restaurant and had a blast. Leaving the dinner table like that.. And making me leave, for you and then making me search for you for more than an hour.. Not so nice.. Don't you think?  she asked waiting for an answer.

She was going on talking, I was standing there just smiling.

June!!!?! Are you even listening to me?  She scolded me again.

Why are you smiling like an idiot!??  She asked me finally noticing me.

Becky.. We kissed.  I said slowly.

What?!?  oh my god!!!!  Becky exclaimed

Yeah.. I said smiling nonchalantly.

How?!?  I mean when?!?  She asked in confusion

After he stormed off. From the dinner table.  I replied.

But..     She started but we were interrupted when my phone beeped.

And there was a text from Andrew.

A: Good Night. And Meet me before the event begins tomorrow.

J: why? 

A: I gotta tell you something.

J: Alright.. See you tomorrow then.

A: Bye.

I was wondering what he wanted to tell me, it was a mixed feeling.. The feeling of sheer excitement and slight fear. I was pacing around the room thinking what was it that he wanted to tell me.

Hey.. What was that about!??   Becky asked me.

He wants to meet me alone before the event begins!  I said nervously.

Okay..keep your calm!  Don't freak out!  She said smiling brightly.

How can I not?  I asked swiftly.

She looked at me with amusement.

Okay. Stop looking at me like that!  I said trying to sound normal.

Alright. Fine!!  She said sarcastically.

We heard a knock on our door. It was half-past 11, who could be knocking at this hour I thought. I looked at Becky and she signalled me to get the door. Was it Andrew?  My heart was racing dangerously. My hands were shivering suddenly. I slowly went towards the door and opened it and I found Mrs.Mitchell smiling brightly.

Uh.Mrs.Mitchell?  I asked a little bit surprised.

June.. I am sorry to disturb you at this hour but I wanted to talk to you.  She said with a small smile.

Ah..sure! Come in!  I invited her inside.

I was really nervous about our discussion, maybe she was angry with me cause of the dinner incident. I thought.

Becky dear. Liam was looking for you!  Mrs.Mitchell said with a sweet smile.

Uh. Alright, I'll go check on him then!  Becky said looking at me.

I nodded in response.

Look, Mrs Mitchell. I am sorry about... I started but I was interrupted soon.

June.. Honey!  I don't know how to thank you, for what did for Andrew there!  She said looking at me with gratitude.

What?!?  You aren't mad?  I asked unbelievably.

Of course not. Dear!  You are like an angel in Andrew's life. Why will I ever be mad at you?  She said touching my cheeks.

Mrs.Mitchell.. I..   I started.

You can call me Margaret!  She pointed out.

I smiled at her brightly.

I apologize for my outburst at dinner!  I apologize to her.

I was genuinely sorry.

You did.. What I couldn't do, Dear!  She replied instantly.

James could be difficult at times.. But he has a good heart!  She said looking at me.

I know.. It's just that I couldn't see Andrew like that.. Hurt and buried in despair.       I said as I remembered the look on his face.

Andrew's it's very lucky to have you!  She said and pulled me into a huge hug.

Thanks.. Mrs.Mit.Uh, Margaret!  I said with a smile.

I hope you could tell him, how much you love him someday!  She said looking at me.

she caught me there by surprise. I was looking at her with confusion.

Uh.Yeah.. I know that you both aren't in a relationship.  She said casually.

What?!?  I asked again.

Yeah..mothers know everything!  she said proudly.

Uh. I started.

Don't worry your secret is safe with me!  She said with a chuckle.

Andrew's mom was one in a million. She was really kind and chilled out. She kinda made me miss my mom. 

I'll get going now!  You sleep well!  She said with a sweet smile.

Sweet dreams Margaret!  I replied instantly with a bright smile.

After she went, I was lying on my bed and was thinking about everything that had happened since I came to London.

Can you believe it?  I heard Becky

Becky came in and sat near me.

What?  I asked instantly.

Liam called me in the middle of the night to ask about matching my outfit for tomorrow!  She said looking at me.

I think that's cute!  I said with a smirk.

What!?!  Remind me again why I am friends with you?   she asked sarcastically.

Cause I put up with your babbling?  I asked raising an eyebrow.

Okay.. That I'll agree!  She said and we broke into laughter.

Andrew P.o.v

I texted June and I was looking at her message again and again and smiling to myself. I heard a knock and as I opened the door, I saw Liam standing with a suit on one hand and a tie on the other hand. Seeing him like that made me break into laughter.

Okay.. That's not funny!  Liam said with a straight face.

Yeah?  but.  I could barely speak between the laughter.

I am glad.. My misery is amusing to you Buddy!  He said rolling his eyes.

Okay.. I am serious now, What's up?  I asked sarcastically.

I need to match my tie with Becky's outfit!  he said looking serious.

Ah..that's actually quite deep.. Even for you!  I said with sarcasm dripping.

Ya well.. Are you just gonna stand there and mock me or you gonna help me?  he asked with annoyance.

Okay.. What do you need?  I asked.

Navy or Grey?  he showed two different suits.

What is she gonna wear?  I asked suddenly.

She won't tell me! Liam said wearily.

Then go with the grey one!  I said instantly.

Why?  he asked raising his eyebrow.

Simple.. When I went to see June earlier, I saw a silver gown neatly pressed and kept on the bed.. I guess It was Becky's since June will wear black tomorrow!   I said casually.

What?!! How do you even know that?  He asked confused.

She likes black!  and I might have sent a text just now about it!  I said with amusement.

Seriously?!  Did you copy my plan?  he asked sarcastically.

I just borrowed it!  I said with a smirk.

Okay.. I gotta go now!!  He said.

Later!!!  I replied instantly.

It was at half past 12, and I couldn't sleep still. I felt thirsty I found no water bottles near my bed. I was slightly frustrated. The kitchen was downstairs, I lazily walked towards the staircase. As I started descending down the stairs, I noticed My dad's office room's light was still on. Maybe he was still awake, I thought. I wanted to apologize to him for what had happened earlier. I didn't mean to insult him before his friends. I walked towards his room. As I was about to open the door. I heard something.

You can't.. You can't shut down the unit!  I heard my dad's tough voice.

No..I know my due lapsed but give me some time to make things right!  He was talking in his phone.

Dad?  I called him.

He looked at me with utter shock.

Andrew?  What are you doing here?  He asked in surprise.

Uh. I started.

Wait..let me call you back!    he said and hung up his call.

Dad..What's going on?  I asked noticing the frown on my dad's face.

Not your concern!  he said avoiding my gaze.

I know.. What happened earlier wasn't right!  I am sorry about that!  I apologized.

It doesn't matter now.. Andrew!  he said looking at me.

Dad, what's bothering you?  I asked.

He left out a  sigh.

They are shutting down one of our units! He said in a muffled voice.

What?!?!  but why?  I asked in shock.

My due lapsed and we had a huge loss this year, our investors aren't happy with us!  He explained.

How could this even happen? I asked unbelievably.

It's my fault, I took a risk that wasn't worth a shot!  he said looking down.

What do you mean?  I asked swiftly.

I merged one of our company with Thone Private limited!  He said looking sad.

What?!?  When did this happen?  I asked in shock.

About 2 years ago, now it backfired on me!  He said.

What happened Dad?  I asked firmly.

We are losing our investors!  If this continues, we might end up bankrupt.    He said with a horrid expression.

Does Mr.Thone have something to do with all of this?  I asked slowly.

He has the right to be upset. Do you know?  He replied.

Mr.Thone was very influential, I just can't believe he would use his power to destroy our company.

But you are his friend..he.. He can't take it out on you dad!!  I screamed in frustration.

I know.. That's why he proposed a deal bu..but I refused it!  he said looking at me.

What kinda deal?  I asked curiously.

He wants you to marry Sharon and I get back my investors!  He said looking down.

What!?!  How is that even possible?! Dad, he hates me! Why would he want me to marry Sharon?   I asked in confusion.

I don't know Andrew. All he said was that he didn't wanna lose anything anymore!  he replied.

I know, I can't force you Son! And I won't.. I might not approve your way of dating but I am not that cruel to force you into marrying someone, you don't love!  He said with a small smile.

But.. What will happen next?  I asked concerned.

I'll manage everything son!  he said looking at me with a smile.

After that intense conversation with my dad, I went back to my room. I couldn't stop thinking about what he had said earlier. I couldn't believe Mr.Thone heated me so much that he took it out on my dad. I was feeling guilty. I wanted to help my dad. I felt helpless. I was pacing around the room thinking about what could I do to help. I decided to join him in business after graduation,I wanted to help dad in the best way I could. I went to tell the news to my dad, it was 2.30 already but this can't wait, I need to talk to my dad.

As I was about to knock the door, I heard my dad talking on the phone again.

Yeah, this is an emergency I need a buyer!  Yes, I am sure, I need to sell this house. We could stay anywhere, it doesn't matter. Make the deal as soon as possible!  Okay, that would be better.  He was talking seriously.

I was standing there expressionless, I couldn't bear to hear my dad, sounding so low like that. He absolutely adores this house. I was standing in front of the door helpless. He was in this mess in this first place cause of me. The guilt crippled in. Suddenly the door opened and My dad was standing in front of me all confused.

Andrew...it's half past 2..Go get some sleep!  He said surprised by my intrusion.

Maybe he hoped, that I didn't hear him before!

Dad?  I called out.

Yea? He asked.

I'll marry Sharon Thone!  I said suddenly.

What was I thinking?  I can't marry her, I loved June! 

You can't force yourself into doing this!!!  he said looking at me.

No, I mean  She is smart, pretty and she will be perfect for our family!  I replied.

I don't know why those words came out of my mouth. It all was happening so fast. But I was deeply disturbed when I heard my dad talking about selling our house. I mean everything was the happening cause of me, I don't get to shatter their dream. It was my dad's hard work that, built such an empire. And I just can't bear that thought of seeing my dad sign those papers tomorrow. I thought of every single memory that I had in that house, everything flashed before my eyes in split seconds. It wasn't fair to them. I couldn't be that selfish to let them suffer cause of my mistake. I already paid a huge price for that. But June was like the small shred of light that I found beneath all the darkness and despair, how could I leave her go?  I couldn't let her go. I just can't but I can make her hate me. Yes, that's the only way. 

But what about your Girlfriend?  He asked suddenly, his question shook me out of my thoughts.

Uh.June?  oh. It's nothing. I replied.

My heart was heavy when I spoke those words.

Next morning

June's P.o.v

I was excited about the event, I couldn't sleep due to the excitement. I woke up really early, I got ready soon. I was wearing a black knee-length cocktail dress with lacy patterns. I tired my hair into a fishtail. I wore matching heels and was waiting for Becky. She was taking forever to get ready.

Becky.. What's taking so long?  I screamed impatiently.

Ah..you are on time for the first time and you are annoying already!  She complained.

I laughed thinking about what she just said.

Hey.. Andrew asked you to meet him before the event right? She asked as she was trying to apply eye shadow.

Uh..about that, I want to skip that!  I mean, I can talk later!  I said trying to keep my calm.

What!??!  That's crazy!  You are going!  Becky pushed me towards the door.

Ah.Fine!  At least tell me this..am I looking good?  I asked curiously.

Yeah.. But you look like, someone who will pass out!  Stop being nervous!  She said teasingly.

Alright. Here goes nothing!  I said and went out to open the door.

As I opened the door, I held my breath for a second or two. I saw Andrew, who was standing with his hands raised. It was funny actually. He was looking at me seriously but then he suddenly became stiff and decided to break the silence.

Ah.I was about to knock!  He said sheepishly.

Yeah, I figured!  I said with a smile.

Again seriously gazing at me.

Did uh..you want to talk?  I asked, interrupting him from his thoughts.

Yeah.. Does Rooftop remember? He smirked.

Then why did you come here?  I asked raising my eyebrow.

Again there was silence, I couldn't imagine what he was thinking.

We reached the roof and it has been 5 mins since we came up there but he hadn't spoken even a single word.

You look nice!  I complimented him and broke the awkward silence.

Uh..thanks!   he replied instantly.

That's it? so sarcastic smirk? Something was definitely off about him! 

Do you remember my cousin, Nathan?  he asked suddenly.

Finally, we were talking, it's random but still, small talks are good.

Is that the flirty one or the creepy one?!?  I asked sarcastically.

That will be the flirty one and Blake is not creepy!  He said with a small smile.

Okay.. What about him?  I asked curiously.

Oh, I think he fancies you!  He said looking at me seriously.

You are kidding!  I said rolling my eyes.

No, actually I am not!  He actually made a bet with me yesterday that he would kiss you within the end of the night.   He said in a serious tone.

I felt weird cause he didn't sound like he was tasing me.

Well, he obviously lost that bet since I kissed you.   I said not realizing my cheeks were beet red.

Yeah, I did and I won!  He said slowly.

I was confused. What was going on?  Am I hearing stuff?  or did he just say he won?

What?  I asked again.

I hope it's not weird between us, it was just a bet!  He said casually.

The realization hit me and I was numb, I couldn't say anything. I couldn't feel anything. It was like when you hear something that absolutely kills you inside but you have to pretend as nothing happened. It was the hardest thing to do the ' Pretending '.

Huh?  I was speechless.

Again, I didn't know what to do in that situation?  I felt like I walked through a knife. Pain crept in when I understood what was going on around me? 

June?  He called me.

Mm? I asked swiftly.

Uh..you haven't said anything for the past 2 mins. Are you OK?  He asked as his blue eyes bored into my green ones.

Uh. Yeah, I get it!  It's just a Game!  I said trying to keep a smile on my face.

But then a small tear rolled down my cheek, I wiped it swiftly before Andrew could notice anything.

So we are good?  He asked waiting for my response.

Totally!!  I exclaimed.

Okay. Great!  I'll see you at the event!  he said avoiding my gaze.

I just nodded in response.

My eyes were fixed on him the whole time but he never looked at me. I saw him walking away from me.  It was like watching him stomp on my heart.

After he went, I was standing there expressionless. Then suddenly I bust out into tears. Soon I was a weeping ball. The worst part of it was that I was so sure, that he felt the same. How could he just say it was all a game?  Why would I still think, there is something wrong?  His mouth was telling a different story but his eyes reflected sadness and despair.
