June P.o.v

It's been days since the last time I talked to Andrew. He called a few times for apologizing. I don't wanna talk to him. Not because I was angry at him but because I didn't want to feel like that again ever. I hated that feeling.  That thing I felt when he said he doesn't really care. I just wanted to steer clear from him. I don't want to get hurt if that's so selfish of me to shut him out like that. Then so be it!  I am that selfish.

"Still not talking to Andrew, huh?" Becky asked looking at me sitting by the window wallowing in my own misery.

"I don't want to talk about it." I gave her a glare.

"You know..He apologized right?"  She rolled her eyes taking his side.

"I know..Cause I rejected his apology!"  I gave a taste of her medicine.

"You never do that. That's not really you!"  She said as she was trying to convince me, I was all about forgiveness.

"It's what it is, Becky!"  I snapped a little.

"You know?  You both look miserable, right?"  She said as if it was so obvious.

"When did you see Andrew?"  I shot her with a question.

"I just know! Come on.. can you guys just put whatever happened behind and be normal already?"  She begged this time.

"Actually no!  And stop making his case!"  I said sternly.

"You are my best friend!"  I added shooting another one of my special death glare at her. She was about to leave as she wasn't successful in convincing me.

"I am your best friend and that's why I am telling you this!"   She sighed looking concerned for me.

"And I love you for that!  But this is just way too complicated." My eyes turned sad again.

"Alright then!  Do whatever makes you happy!"  She said holding my hands.

"Thanks, Becks!"  I said with a small smile.

Avoiding Andrew wasn't making me any happier but I don't want to feel rejected. The far I stay away from him, the good it'll do for me. I am sure these feelings ll wither off in time. And by feelings I mean those butterflies that were fluttering when I had that bike ride. When he kissed my cheek when I danced with him When he flirts with me and lots more. I couldn't place a finger on the reason Why that happens?  But  I know it's not a good thing. I might end up with a broken heart.

So yeah!  I am gonna chicken out and take the other way. Avoid the person and live your life as if they don't exist. I am sure I can do that.

Okay, I am not sure!  I just hope that happens.

My phone beeped and it was Andrew again.

A: Stop avoiding me! I need to talk to you, Please.

I saw the message but I didn't reply to him.

I went to my usual class and I found all my classmates were on their usual seats.  I found an empty seat in the second row and sat. 

COME ON CLASS!  TURN TO PAGE NO 198,  TODAY WE ARE GONNA LEARN ABOUT IMPORT TRADE PROCEDURE.

We heard Mr.Perkins. He was a very strict teacher,  Who was hated by half of the college. He started the lecture and he wrote some stuff on the board and ordered us to take it down.

I searched my bag for a pen. But it was my unlucky day, I didn't find any.

"Here.Use mine!"  I heard a familiar voice. I turned right to find Jason beside me.

"Jason?  You are in my class?"  I asked surprised.

"Yeah!  I changed my elective last week."  He said with amusement.

"I thought this major was better than the last one I was."  He said smiling. Sure, It was just that. I wasn't an idiot. He was clearly interested in me but I just didn't think we clicked. I also didn't wanna lead him on giving him any wrong impression.

"Oh, yeah?"  I asked raising my eyebrows.

"Yeah. Insurance isn't my thing."  He said winking.

"Right!" I chuckled.

"Ms Paxton?  Mr.Richards?  Are we bothering you?"  We heard Mr.Perkins tough voice suddenly.

"Sorry, sir!"  We said in chorus.

The bell rang after an hour of that lecture. I rushed out of the room without out looking back. It was lunch break. I pulled out my mobile to call Becky. But there was missed call from her already. I called her back.

"June, I was actually about to call you!"  She said with excitement.

"Uh..kay! What's up?"  I asked curiously.

"Meet me behind the Miller Block!"  She exclaimed. She was abnormally cheery.

"What about lunch?" I wined.

"I am starving!"   I made my case, I was too lazy to go anywhere right now actually.

"Uh. I bought burgers from canteen!"  She came pre-planed.

"Alright! I guess That'll do. I'll meet you in five minutes!" I agreed as I knew she wouldn't budge without a fight.

"Kay..bye!"  She bid me goodbye and she hung up.

I was walking towards the block and I was looking for Becky but I couldn't find her.

Where was she? 

"Hey, you!"  She scared me from behind. Jumping from the other direction.

"Ah..sneaking up on me?"  I asked in shock trying to clam my pacing heart. She was laughing like a retard but I ignored her.

"Why are we meeting here?"  I asked her with a straight face.

"Patience!  All good things come to those who wait!" She said smiling sarcastically clearly she was planning something sinister.

What are you talking about?  I asked in confusion.

Me!  She is talking about me!  I heard a deep voice.

My heart was racing as I recognized that voice.

Andrew! I exclaimed.

What the hell Becky?  I asked shooting a glare at her.

You both have to grow up and stop with your stupid fight!  She said casually.

I was still glaring at her. She ignored me. Andrew was silent the whole time.

I'll leave you both now!  She said turning away.

What!?!?!  I asked.

I made a look that said "Don't you dare leave!"  but she ignored me like before. Becky left us, and we were standing there and an awkward silence filled that place.

Still, avoiding me?  Andrew broke the silence.

I didn't answer for a few seconds.

Why are you here? I asked coldly.

He was about to answer my question but I interrupted him by shooting him another question.

How did they even let you in?  I asked curiously

Tomorrow we have that workshop..remember?  He said slowly.

So?!  I asked again.

I am here as a representative from my college to fill out some forms..it's some formality.  He said.

I see!   I said as I was ignoring him.

June?  He called.

Yeah? I asked again ignoring him.

Look at me!  he said and clasping my face between his hands.

Don't!  I said moving away.

I am sorry that I acted impulsively!  he said looking at me.

How long are you gonna stay mad at me?  I kinda miss you he said slightly sad.

I wanted to just forget about the whole thing and just hug him. My heart kinda melted when he said he missed me.

Andrew!  You can't just come here and say stuff like that. I started.

June just wait...     He said and he caught my hands.

Alright. What?  I asked curiously.

The truth is I didn't want to lose you..and when I saw you with Jason. I didn't know what came over me and I just lost it. He said looking at me seriously.

Why'll you lose me?    I asked slowly.

I don't know in June!  I just can't bear to see you with him! He said suddenly.

His words shocked me. I was breathless for a moment or two.

I was just talking to him..Andrew!  I said.

I know!  I am really sorry. I was an idiot!  He apologized and looked genuinely upset.

But it really killed me! He added.

I gave a confused look.

Not talking to you..killed me!  He said slowly gazing at me.

I was left speechless I didn't know what to tell him. Does this mean he likes me too?  I was so confused.

Andrew..I..dodon't know what to say?   I started.

I was interrupted again.

Just tell me we are good!  He said looking desperate with his puppy eyes.

Yea, We are good!  I said smiling brightly.

He reflected it back.

Uhh..thank god!  You guys are such a drama queen!  We heard Becky.

You were here the whole time?  Andrew asked slightly uncomfortable.

I made a straight face.

No, I just came!  She said winking at me.

I rolled my eyes.

She mouthed "You both are adorable".

I gave a death glare.

Uh..well I gotta go now!  I'll see you both tomorrow!  he said with a small smile.

Yeah. We'll see you!  Becky said and started giggling.

I pinched her signalling her to stop.

Bye!  I said smiling.

He waved and walked away.

After he went, Becky was looking at me seriously.

What?? Stop staring! I said.

What was that about?  She asked seriously.

What was what about?  I asked in confusion.

You and Andrew!  Why can't you just be together already? She asked.

I am not having this conversation with you!  I said as I started walking.

June!  Wait you gotta give yourself a chance?  She said.

Really? Look who's talking?  I asked sarcastically.

It's not about me today!  I just want you to be happy.  She said with a genuine smile.

I know!  I said and hugged her tightly.

Whoa! Can't breathe!  She said.

Uh.Sorry!  I pulled away.

Kidding!  She said laughing.

Uhh... you're so annoying!  I said rolling my eyes.

I know!  She flashed her sparkling smile.

Thanks for making me meet Andrew!  I said slowly.

What are you talking about?  She asked.

It was all his idea!  She added.

Seriously?  I asked curiously.

Yeah...he saw me while I was in the dean's office I said.

Why were you there?  I asked with suspicion.

Relax!  I wasn't playing candy crush in my class again!  I went to submit a form.   She explained.

Alright!  I believe you.   I said.

Hey...we gotta check the schedule for tomorrow from the notice board.    Becky said remembering something.

Kay. Let's get going! I said.

June P.o.v

We reached the main notice board and Becky read the schedule loudly. I took a picture of the schedule for future reference.

Instructions for the workshop to be held on 28th February.

All students are required to assemble in our campus and from here students be grouped and sent to their specified classes. All students are to assemble at 8.00 AM in the HG Auditorium. And further instructions will be given later.

We heard the bell rang and Becky returned to her class.

The rest of the classes were over by 4 but  I was staying late in the computer lab working. I was preparing my project report. Suddenly I saw Jason walking towards me. Why was he here?  He never stays late after classes.

He was this mystery hot guy of our college. He was great in sports. He was not bad with his books too. And if I could remember, He played the lead role in the play in the first year of our college. He never speaks until he is asked something. Yet he manages to be the gossip of the college. Girls were lining up to get a small glimpse of him. He was always broody. Never did he notice any girl who was crushing on him. It was not like him to talk to anyone first. But he did come up to me himself always.

Hi!  He greeted me with his devilish smile.

Alright, what's with you today?  Are you stalking me?  I asked sarcastically.

Okay! I am sorry...If that was creepy!  He joked.

I left out a chuckle.

What are you doing here?  He asked.

Work!  I said to keep it short, I was really busy for real.

Can I help?  He asked looking at me.

Okay!  Spill!  What do you want?  I asked seriously.

Nothing!  Can a guy offer his help without wanting anything in return?    He winked at me.

They can!  But they never do!  I said sarcastically.

Alright, you got me!  I just wanted to talk to you about yesterday!    He said slowly.

Suddenly I felt guilty for ditching him like that.

Jason. I am sorry about yesterday!  I said feeling awful.

June!  Really. it's not a big deal!  He said with a smile.

I wanted to tell you something yesterday!  He added.

Yeah?  what is it?  I asked curiously.

He was looking serious for a few seconds.

I love you.. June!  He said suddenly.

What?!?!  I asked not believing what he said.

Yeah!  I just wanted it in the open cause I can't hide my feelings anymore!   He said looking at me.

Jason!  You barely know me!  I mean we never really have spoken before.  I said feeling awkward.

I know but I liked you since school but I never had the guts to tell you, I am not pressuring you June!  I just wanted to tell you!  I hope it's not gonna get weird between us cause of this!  He said.

Of course, it will be weird, I felt guilty.

I did not feel the same. 

Jason is this because of the whole joke played on you and me?    I asked hoping that would be it.

If it's that at least I could blame that person for all these complications.

About that, I found who was it! Who played with me!?  He said suddenly.

And no!  I had feelings for you way before that!  He added slowly.

Jason, I am so sorry!  I said feeling miserable.

It's not your fault June!  Why are you even apologizing?  I don't want you apologizing cause you don't feel the same. He said looking really sad.

Jason?  I pulled him into my arms into a hug.

He hugged me back tightly. After a few minutes, he pulled away.

Who was it!?!  I asked annoyed by thought that someone could play with other people's feelings like that.

It was Nancy!  He said looking angry.

Nancy Pattinson?  The one we have Portfolio management class with?  I asked with a shocking expression.

Yep, that's the one!  He said looking down.

Why?  I asked curiously.

Well.. she liked me but I kinda didn't feel the same so she thought this would be her perfect revenge.  He said casually.

Sounds cliché right?   He smirked.

He was definitely putting on a tough face, but anyone is hurt by something like this.

Are you okay?  I asked concerned.

Never been better!  He said sarcastically trying to hide behind his jokes.

You know what?  We are gonna get past this!  I  tried to cheer him up.

I know.. cause I am awesome!  He smirked.

I was smiling brightly.

You sure we are good?  I asked slightly feeling awkward.

Oh.. I am over you already!  He smirked.

Heyy!?!?!  I exclaimed.

Feeling bad?  Huh?   He joked.

No!  I said awkwardly.

Right!  I gotta go now, I'll see you tomorrow!  He said and went away.

I  was glad I talked about this with Jason, the last thing was to lead him on and hurt him. I completed my work and went back to my hostel. I ate an apple since I was too lazy to get out of my bed. I pulled out my phone and found tons of notifications, there were 20 missed calls and 10 texts. I opened it to find Becky called me 5 times and Andrew called 15 times. I panicked and opened all the messages.

L: Drew has lost it, plz return his calls.

A: I am coming!

I read all the messages and was processing the whole thing.

I called Andrew and he picked up in the first ring.

Andrew!  I said.

June?  What the hell?  He shouted

Are you crazy?  We thought someone kidnapped you or something?      He was going on shouting

You were seen last at your class and then puff..no one saw you!  Where were you?  Talk to me !?!?!  He screamed.

Will you allow me to speak!  I was in the lab working!  I had the due for my report so I was staying late and working.     I explained.

But Becky said she searched everywhere for you!  He said in a confused tone.

She might have forgotten about the lab, I was in the top floor and they usually close the labs after classes so she might not be bothered to look for me there.  I said as I was trying to calm him down.

Oh!   He said slowly.

What happened to you?  I asked curiously.

'You'!  You ruined everything.  He said.

What did I do?    I asked him.

I wanted to just go to the football game with Liam and then I thought of inviting you and Liam thought it was a good idea and called Becky and then we couldn't find you and I freaked out so...and now we missed the game..it's all because of you!   he said seriously.

Why do even care?  I was on the campus anyway where would I go?  I asked curiously.

I care because there are people like Jason on your campus!  He said with anger.

He is not that bad!  I insisted.

Right!  He said with an annoyed tone

Alright, I gotta go and talk to Becky and stop her from organizing a search party for me!  I said sarcastically.

Wait. You don't call her still?  He asked surprised.

No, my first instinct was to call you!  I said suddenly.

What??!  I seriously said that to him? 

Really?  He asked teasingly.

I could picture him smirking now.

Alright. Bye.   I said shyly.

Kay! Good Night!  He said laughing.

Okay!  I said.

Okay! He said as he was imitating me.

You aren't  Augustus Waters!   I said laughing.

I know I am way cooler than him!  He said sarcastically.

Right!  Bye now!  I said.

Bye!  He replied.

I hung up the phone and was smiling like a crazy person. I called Becky and explained everything she was screaming first but then she was calm. I talked to her for a few minutes and went to bed later on.
