Chapter 13: Silent Treatment From Sagwa Mori Girl

Usually, Soojung was the one who opens a conversation with him, despite giving her his cold shoulder. She would always talk to him even if he doesn't want to. But today was different.

Soojung never greets him good morning and never bothers to say hi to him. She didn't even ask him to get their materials for their Chemistry class nor tell him to transfer some iodine to the test tubes for their activity.

She works on her own accord. He is not used of the girl's silence, and Sehun is getting annoyed of it.

Morning of the Thanksgiving Day, Mrs. Oh invited the Jung's for a dinner, which the latter gladly accepts since most of their relatives are living outside the country. Sehee got excited for she haven't meet her new neighbor formally. The tables were already set and the whole household smells roasted turkey.

"I heard that the neighbor's daughter is same as old as Jihyo." The siblings are currently lounging in the living room as they wait for the Jung's to arrive. Sehun nod once, not even taking his eyes off of the book he's reading. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"You never asked." Sehun answered nonchalantly.

"You brat!" Sehee hisses. "Anyway! Are you friends with her?"

"No."

"Why?"

"None of your business, noona."

"YAH!" Sehun finally look at his sister's direction, afraid that she'll go barbaric. "You should be acquinted with her since you guys are neighbors and you're both attending the same university!"

"We're not in talking terms."

"Or more likely you don't like to talk at all. So immature!" Sehun rolls his eyes to her.

Mrs. Oh runs towards the door when she hears the doorbell. It's the Jungs.

"Happy Thanksgiving everyone!" The Jung couple greets the Oh's as soon as the door opens.

The Oh siblings gets up from the couch to greet their neighbor, and Sehee nudges her brother as soon as she spotted the young lady, which she assumes to be Soojung.

"And you didn't tell me she's a nerd. A cute nerd at that." Sehee whispers to Sehun.

Sehun looks at the girl behind Mrs. Jung. She still wears her geeky eyeglasses and wears layered clothing with light beige knitted sweater, black leggings and black doll shoes- and seriously, why is he even checking her outfit? Sehee's been rubbing him with her fashion- alright, stop it already!

"Happy Thanksgiving, too! By the way, this is our eldest, Sehee. She's on vacation right now"

"Nice to finally meet you and your family, Mrs. Jung!"

"Oh! Nice to meet you too!"

Scrumptious dinner was shared over nice conversation (and beer for the two heads of the families), while Sehun and Soojung remain silent, occasionally laughing over Sehee's funny stories.

"I heard from your mom that you're one of the popular make-up artist in Hollywood, could you help our Soojung to be more pretty?" Soojung's eyes widen with the mention of her name. "I mean yeah she's pretty but I just hope she could get a boyfriend with her new look."

"Mom!" Everyone laughed with Soojung's baffled expression.

"But I thought Jongin's her boyfriend already?" Mr. Jung butts in.

"Oh, really?" Sehee asks, trying to read the mood of her surrounding.

"N-No... we're d-dating, yes, but nothing's serious. I haven't say y-yes to him." Soojung answered with her head low.

"Alright!" Sehee clasps her hands together. "I can do Soojung's make-up, like, right now. Don't worry Mrs. Jung, your daughter's already pretty, she just need to revamp her usual make-up routine. Is it okay if I take Soojung upstairs in my room so I could do my magic now?"

Sehee, whose always being excited to do make-overs, pulls Soojung out of the dining room and go upstairs to her room.

A few minutes after, Sehee returns to the dining table and informed them that Soojung went back to their house to get the cake she made.

"Oh, right! Soojung baked a cake a while ago but she needs to cool the cake first before decorating it, or else the icing will melt."

"Really? Wow! I'm sure your daughter will be a good wife in the future!" Mrs. Oh exclaimed making Mrs. Jung giggle.

"Sehunnie~" Sehun frowns when his mother calls his name so sickeningly sweet. "Go help Soojung over there. I'm sure she needs help."

"Let noona help her."

"Sorry baby bro, my name's Sehee. Not Sehun. And clearly, mom mentions your name, not mine."

"But I don't-" Sehun wasn't able to complete his sentence when his mother and his sister glares at him, ganging up against him.

"Fine." Sehun sighs as he stands up and walks out of their house.

Sehun sighs as he knocks because what should he say when the girl's giving him cold shoulder?

The door opened and Soojung comes to his view. Sehun stares at her for a while, studying her looks. He can't say if there's anything changed since she still wears the same clothes- oh her eyeglasses are missing. And her sagwa mori hairstyle... tsk! Sehun hears her clearing her throat, disrupting his thoughts.

"What?"

Sehun bites the insides of his cheek because honestly he didn't know what to say. He just stands there, looking at her.

"If you have nothing to say, just leave." Soojung then closes the door.

Although a little hesitant, Sehun knocks for the second time around and just barge inside when Soojung opens the door again.

Soojung on the other hand, glares at the person who comes inside their house uninvitedly. They would sometimes have their staring contest once in a while, but just lets him sits at the dining table, watching her decorating the cake.

There are times Soojung catches him looking at her sagwa mori with his brows knitted together. Maybe it doesn't look good to her. Why did she even believe Sehee when she told her 'I know someone who likes this innocent hairstyle, so trust me!'. Or maybe contact lenses doesn't suit her. Or even her make-up. Tsk! She should have known better.

After she finished decorating the cake, clearing the table with her mess and washing her hands, Soojung takes the cake and just look at Sehun as if telling him to follow her to their house. She glance at her reflection from the decorative mirror when she pass their living room. She balance the cake with her right hand while her other hand went on top of her head to take off the small rubberband and just let her hair down, when there's a hand stopping her action. She looks at the mirror and saw Sehun holding her wrist firmly whose also looking at her reflection.

"Don't take it off." Sehun said. "At least that's the only thing that suits you other than your make-up." Then he takes the cake from her hand and walks out of the front door.

Did he just complemented me? Soojung thought. "But shouldn't he stutter at least? Or even blush?"

Or maybe she's just overthinking. She shouldn't overthink. She don't want to trust that fluttery feeling.

Few days after the Thanksgiving, Sehun fetched Jihyo from their house for their date at Viva Polo. Jihyo insisted to just dine there since it was owned by Chanyeol's mother, plus they could get discount.

Once there, Chanyeol welcomes them since he usually helps there whenever he's free, and ushered them to their table.

"Wah~ so it's true? You did ask our Jihyo for a date! I thought Baekhyun was just bluffing." Sehun only smile at him. "So what do you guys want to order?" Chanyeol looks at the girl when Sehun gestures to take her order first.

"I'll just have korean beef steak, white kimchi and... just water- and oh! Samgyetang! I'm craving for that. And hotteok as well." Jihyo smiles sheepishly when the two guys looks at her incredulously.

"You really have a big appetite for a small girl like you." Chanyeol commented, smiling as he writes her order. "How about you Sehunnie?"

"Just beef steak. I can already feel my wallet's pleas." Sehun said which earned a boisterous laugh from the giant and a glare from the girl across him.

"Fine, I'll chip in for our food!" Jihyo rolls her eyes to Sehun which the latter chuckles.

After Chanyeol confirmed their order, the tall guy walks out to give their order to the cook and welcomes the new customers.

"Oh! Jongin-ah!" Sehun and Jihyo cranes their neck towards the entrance, and true enough, Jongin came to the restaurant with Soojung beside him.

"I see you two also have a date. Sehun and Jihyo's here too! Do you guys want to have a separate table or do you want to join them?" Chanyeol asks as they usher them inside.

"I'm sure Sehun wouldn't mind if we join them, right?" Jongin asks Sehun once they stop beside their table.

"No, I don't." Sehun looks at the two new comers, then to Jihyo. "Although I'm not sure if-"

"It's okay, Sehun." Jihyo cuts in, not letting Sehun finish his sentence. "Come sit here beside me, Soojung!" Jihyo pats the seat beside her, earning her a smile from Soojung.

Jongin takes the seat beside his bestfriend, pouting when Jihyo didn't spare him a glance.

"Great! So what do guys want to order?"

"Bibimbap will be fine."

"Jjamppong for me."

Chanyeol left once again to relay the new comer's order. The two girls are busy talking to each other while the two guys silently throwing daggers to each other (or most likely, Jongin). 20 minutes and growling stomach (courtesy of Jihyo) later, their order has finally arrived. Jongin sneakingly glance at Jihyo's smiling face as she takes in the aroma of their food.

"Ouch!" The three other lifts their head to see who got hurt. it was Jihyo.

"What's wrong?" Sehun asks.

"I forgot I injured my index finger while playing basketball with duizhang, so now I can't cut my steak. Tsk!"

Jongin was about to get her plate so he can cut it for her but Sehun immediately lifts her plate and exchange it with his.

"Here. Take mine instead."

The meat was already cut into bite-size pieces, which Jihyo gladly accepts, missing the frown on Jongin's face. Soojung could only bite the inside of her cheek.

"Soojung-ah~" Jongin cooed at the girl, making the two other occupants of the table crane their neck to look at them. "You should eat something warm since it's getting chilly now. Here. Take mine instead." Sehun slows down on cutting the steak and raises his brows, as Jongin lifts Soojung's bibimbap.

"Um.. but Jongin-"

"It's alright, you can have my jjamppong."

"But Jongin..."

Sehun stands up and reach over Soojung's now jjampong, then switch it with the steak that he took from Jihyo.

"What are you doing?" Jongin asks, gritting his teeth.

"She's allergic with seafoods, and jjamppong has seafoods. Unless you want to escort her to the hospital, then feel free." Sehun said nonchalantly.

Jongin and the two girls, especially Soojung, looks at Sehun incredulously.

"I'm... I'm sorry Soojung. I didn't know you're allergic to seafoods. I should've known."

"It's alright, Jongin." Soojung smiled at him. "Th-thank you, S-Sehun." Soojung stutters. Sehun nods once, acknowledging her appreciation.

Soojung didn't know if she should feel flattered or special(?) that Sehun knows a little information about her. She could only stare at the guy whose slurping the spicy noodles that Jongin gave her.

As for Jongin, he was dumbfounded. He's so embarrassed to even look at Soojung. How come Sehun knows about it- oh, right. They're neighbors. Jongin lifts his head when suddenly, a chicken drumstick was placed near him. He looks at the girl who gives him the portion of the chicken.

"Just eat before I take it back."

Jongin smile as he take a bite of his favorite chicken part. After all, Jihyo knows how to comfort him and he appreciates it. So much.
