Ch. 76 Babies and Fainting
Ginny lounged on the couch in the Common Room, idly flipping through pages in her Herbology book as Harry loitered by the window, staring at the heavy downfalls of snow. He ran a hand through his hair, seemingly deep in thought. It wasn't helping Ginny concentrate, with his words echoing through her head, but she managed to go through an entire paragraph before Ron burst through the doors.
He caught sight of the two and paused to catch his breath, "Dumbledore is setting up defenses!" He gasped, clutching his side, "The Boyle boy? Canaan or whatever? He said they'd attack tonight. They're going to go after you two, and most likely him and his sister."
Harry and Ginny exchanged glances before they turned back to Ron, having a quick and silent conversation. "Are you sure?" Harry asked, coming to stand beside where Ginny had put her book down and was now sitting stiffly. Ron nodded adamantly.
"Yeah, they announced it at dinner," Ron said, looking between the two skeptically, "Which you two missed. Where were you?" He asked. Ginny patted the seat next to her, shrugging.
"Right here. Studying for finals, like you should be doing." She replied smartly, brushing off her shirt lightly even though it was perfectly clean. Ron still looked uneasy, but he nodded and sat on the arm of the chair beside the fire.
"You two are going to be put in a secret location I suppose. Everyone else is going home." Ron mentioned casually. Harry and Ginny exchanged glances once again.
"Why aren't we going home?" Harry asked, perching himself next to Ginny, on the arm of the sofa. Ron shrugged.
"Something about it being unsafe for the community. All of us Weasley's and the Boyle's are going to have to stay. Since we're in association with you lot. Hermione is supposed to leave by Floo like the rest of the Muggleborns."
Ginny swallowed, not sure wether to believe her brother or not. It just sounded so... Stupid. She looked him over, deeming him too casual for this news.
Definitely fake. Revenge? Ginny locked eyes with Harry. He pressed his lips together like he was holding back a laugh.
Definitely. He agreed. Ginny faked a surprised and worried look, clutching her chest.
"Harry! We're going to die!" She gasped, standing next to him. Harry stood, placing his arms on her shoulders then pulling her to him. Ron looked thoroughly amused, but attempted an agreeing look.
"We never got to get married." He pretended to sob. This stopped Ron in his tracks and he went pale, looking between the two.
"Oh Harry! Don't you realize?" Ginny pulled back looking into his eyes. Harry raised his eyebrows, still looking sorrowful.
"What, my dear?" He asked, cradling her head.
"What will become of the-" Harry almost grinned as an idea popped into Ginny's mind, "... Of the baby?" Ron had suddenly gone so pale, he looked like a ghost. Then he blinked a few times and stood.
"Wait a second! Hold up! Baby?" He squeaked, eyes wide. Ginny faked becoming slightly faint, burrowing into Harry's robes and pretending to sob.
"Yes. We weren't going to tell anyone. But now..." Harry wrapped his arms around her. She closed her eyes and continued to sob for a bit, but just then, a loud thump echoed through the room.
The two looked up, and immediately dissolved into laughter. Because, on the floor, was a pale looking Ronald Weasley. Who had just fainted from surprise.
Fred and George barreled down the stairs, both looking appalled and angry. One of them, think it was George, pulled back his fist like he was about to punch Harry out, but then saw how the two were laughing and stopped short.
"Wait. Why're you laughing? We're supposed to be beating Harry up right now!" Fred exclaimed, raising his hands slightly. Ginny wiped a tear from the corner of her eye.
"You really believed that? Also, you thought we would fall for that sorry excuse of a prank?" Ginny laughed, shrugging. The twins exchanged glances then looked back to the Bonded.
"So, Harry didn't knock you up?" George asked. Fred gagged at that.
"Nope." Ginny answered, sniggering at Ron. Fred and George followed her gaze, snorting at their younger brother.
"Well, guess we'll have to wake him up," They said in sync, striding over to each take one of his arms.
"Lake?" Fred asked. George grinned.
"Lake."
