Ch. 5

"James! How could Dumbledore let YOU KNOW WHO INTO THE CASTLE! He taught our baby! HE WAS RIGHT THERE!" She screamed, running her fingers through her hair as she rushed around the house, trying to get everything together. Including a bunch of sweets for her poor baby boy.

"I don't know Lily" James said with venom in his voice. "Crap... We're installing a fireplace in here if I have to build it with my bare hands. We need a Floo System."

"Let's go to the Weasleys, I'm sure they'd let us tag along with them to Hogwarts"

"Alright babe" He agreed, slinging his arm over her shoulder to comfort her as they walked out the front door of their home. Lilys face was covered in tear tracks from the sobbing she had done minutes before. James slowly reached out a hand, as to not startle her, and wiped her cheeks. She sniffed and snuggled tighter into his side as they reached the gate of their house.

They both felt the uncomfortable feeling of Disapperating, and the red-head squeezed her eyes shut until she felt ground beneath her feet. She gulped in air, not liking Apparation at all.

They both walked to the door of the Burrow and knocked. The door flew open and Molly hugged each of them before rushing around, trying to get everything ready to visit her son.

"Ginny! Hurry" Molly shouted up the stairs. A jet of red went down the stairs and to the couch were she proceeded to tie her shoes. "No running on the stairs" Molly admonished quietly, knowing that it was no use.

The look on Ginny's face was heartbreaking. She looked so terrified. That may have been because of her brother, but Lily had a feeling it was different than that.

They all hurried over to the fireplace and Molly and Ginny went first. Then James and Lily. When they got there, they were surprised to see a mountain of sweets by their sons bed. He looked up from some Bertie Botts Jelly Beans and smiled. Lily let out a sob and ran to her son, not even realizing he had company.

Dumbledore side stepped out of the way and let Lily attack her son with hugs and kisses. "Mum... Muumm... Mum!" Harry raised his voice slightly, getting his mother's attention. "I'm okay" He said with a smile. She smiled back and wrapped him in her arms again, this time, James wrapped both of them in a hug.

James and Lily sat down beside Harry and started asking questions. They noticed Harry's eyes slide away for a few moments, then turn back, embarrassed.

"What happened?" Lily asked softly, taking her sons hand "Can you tell us about it? Please?" Harry sighed and launched into the story. Lily held him close and thanked Merlin for Ron and Hermione. She smiled at him and he smiled back slightly.

"Mum, Dad... Are you going to take me back home?" He asked quietly. Lily raised her eyebrows, not expecting the hopeful look on his face. His gaze shifted again and Lily followed his gaze again. She saw Molly with her hands around Ron's, who was still fast asleep.

She was confused to why Harry would stare at Molly, but then saw that right beside Molly, Ginny had her hand on her brother's shoulder and they were both muttering to him.

Lily got a knowing look and turned to James who shrugged. "It's up to you, this is his first year though..." Lily nodded and turned back to Harry.

"We need to have a word with Professor Dumbledore, then we will decide..." She said, smiling at her son. He nodded slightly and his eyes began fluttering. She kissed his forehead and smiled as she watched his breathing even out as he fell into a deep sleep, a smile etched on his face.

Lily got up, pulling her husband with her and noticed that Arthur had joined Molly at Ron's bedside. "Molly, Arthur... We are going to have a word with Albus, I'm sure you would like to come too" She said, her voice laced with the dislike of Dumbledore. The pair nodded and Lily began to plan exactly what she was going to say to Professor Dumbledore. She smiled when she realized she had added a few colorful words in her script that she was going to read to Albus.

Ginny watched her parents leave and glanced over to the bed with the sleeping boy in it. He looked so peaceful, with his face alight with a smile. She took a deep breath and walked over to him.

She had always thought of him as Harry Potter, A Survivor and Hero... Even after his parents released the news that he had survived the Killing Curse, and that he was a hero. She had thought of him as a superhero, a knight in shining armor.

But as she looked at the Harry Potter that she knew, that she had talked to and gotten to know. She realized that he was much more. In her heart she knew that the Boy Who Lived that she had come to know, was caring, loving, noble, loyal, and brave... And also had a nasty temper just like her. She giggled at the thought.

Ginny quietly sank down into the seat that had been occupied by his mother just moments before, she had to get this out before she exploded, and this was the perfect time.

"Harry... You are one of the kindest, bravest, most caring people I have ever met... You make me go tongue tied and make my cheeks flush when you smile at me. I've had a crush on you since I was five and I was introduced to the story of the Potters and how they sacrificed everything for their son. How their son had survived a confrontation with You Know Who... I was smitten with you from then on and pronounced that one day I'd meet you and we'd fall in love..." She took a deep breath as tears ran down her face.

"When I first saw you when I was six and you were seven, my heart jumped into my throat and I thought I'd never be able to breath again. Yeah, you could say that you took my breath away.." She chuckled at her lame attempt at a joke. She watched the steady rise and fall of his chest then swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat.

"When you started to notice me more, I got hopeful that is finally get to know the one I only knew at the time as The Boy Who Lived... My heart jerks when you're around and I know you've felt that weird sensation when we look at each other." She checked again that he was still asleep and leaned down so her lips were next to his ear.

"And I'm not ashamed to say that I've gotten to fancy the real Harry Potter... Not the Boy Who Lived, but the living, breathing, kind, friendly boy whose stolen my heart without trying" She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

"And I think I've fallen in love with him. Though I'm still a kid, I've never felt the warmth that spreads through my chest when he's around... You are the only one that will ever hear this from me, and I'm determined to keep it that way... No matter how badly it hurts"

She rose and swiftly walked down to the doors and eased them open, slipping out and sitting down against the wall with her head in her hands. Thank Merlin he was asleep, if he wasn't...

She felt as though she had never realized her feelings, she wanted to say so much more, but she had to get out of there before he woke or someone heard her... If her brothers caught wind of this...

She smiled to herself, thinking of the face full of Bat Bogey Hex they would get...

*+*+*+*

Harry's eyes fluttered open as his dream faded. It confused him, what was in his dream, it didn't feel like a dream. Though the glossiness and perfection of it was proof enough.

He was sitting in a meadow with Ginny beside him, their fingers laced together and their faces inches apart... He had been professing how he felt for her, telling her how kind, smart, funny, and beautiful she was... How he loves the way her hair was different colors in the light, orange, red, yellow. All bouncing together like fire. Of how he loved her chocolate eyes flecked with amber and bits of a darker brown. Then, as she was opening her mouth to say something, he had been ripped from the meadow and was back in the real world.

He sighed, knowing that there was no use waiting around until his parents showed up. He stretched and got up from bed, glancing over at Pomfreys door to make sure she wasn't watching. And stood. He looked over to where Ron was muttering about fried chicken and chess pieces.

Harry laughed and made his way to the doors quietly, elation from the dream filling him. He opened the door and was surprised to see Ginny sitting there, with her head leaning on the wall. Fast asleep. He walked over to her and thought about leaving her there, not wanting to disturb her. But then the cold of the hallway hit him and he sank to one knee beside her.

He had of course picked her up before, just to play with her, but he immediately put her down, and by that experience he knew she was light as a feather. But that had been with her willingness, he would never sling her over his shoulder to tease her like her brothers did. He didn't want to seem to presumptuous but he was afraid she'd catch a cold sitting on the cold stone of the hall. Especially when she was just wearing shoes, jeans and a tee shirt.

He took a deep breath and slid an arm under her back, then under her knees. He lifted her softly, her arms coming up instinctually to wrap around his neck. He caught a whiff of wildflowers and teetered on the spot. He realized that he'd never been really this close to her for so long. Her scent filled him and his mind went foggy before he shook his head.

Walking as quietly as he could, he made his way to the bed beside his and leaned down a bit to move away the blankets. Her head lolled onto his shoulder and he smelt more of the intoxicating scent he had before, except more powerful. His mouth became dry and his mind blanched. He swallowed several time and shook his head for good measure.

He set her on the bed and smiled down at her sleeping form. He pulled the sheets over her after taking her shoes off so they wouldn't get the sheets dirty. He sat beside her and started talking to her, about nothing in particular.

Once he was through and his mouth became dry from talking too long. He leaned over and kissed her forehead, breathing in the smell of flowers. She smiled in her sleep and he smiled back.

He turned away and slid back under the covers just as his parents entered the room. He took a deep breath, noticing the trace of flowers that was left behind from carrying her.

"Why's Ginny in bed?" Harry's mum asked his dad.

"I.. I um, she fell a-asleep waiting for you all out in the hall and I... er... I didn't want her to catch a cold so I uh... I brought her back in here" He stuttered, his eyes never leaving his sheets and his face burning. The adults exchanged glances unknown to Harry and they quickly changed the subject to how Harry would be staying at the Burrow for most of the rest of the year because of James' Auror work and Lily being a teacher at a Muggle school.

Harry nodded and let out a breath. He knew what that would mean. He smiled, thinking of all the time he'd get to spend with a certain red headed young witch.
