Ch. 41 Classes and Mind-Reading

Harry

Ginny whispered it in his ear. The sun above them was shining and throwing several colors onto her hair. Harry had her wrapped in his arms, face buried in her neck. He hummed, showing her he was listening. The cool water in front of them was shimmering.

I think we need to get up

He agreed, but didn't want to. It was the first day of school, and the first day of classes. He would have to give up Ginny for hours.

Harry pulled her closer, breathing in her scent before looking into her eyes. They were filled with amusement and love. Ginny smiled, running her fingers through his hair once more before he closed his eyes.

Harry woke up in his bed, cold and wishing Ginny was there. Ron was still asleep in his own bed, and so was Dean, but he wondered where Neville and Seamus were.

Then it clicked, and he stumbled out of bed, grabbing his clothes before attempting a quick shower. The warm water helped his sore back, but he still felt cold. He always felt cold when Ginny wasn't near.

Don't worry, I'm here. Hurry up, I'm waiting to go to breakfast.

Harry obeyed, stepping out of the shower and throwing on his uniform before rushing downstairs where Ginny was.

She was sitting on the couch, her school bag open beside her, quietly waiting. Her hair was up in a ponytail, but it still managed to fall in her face as she looked through the school list. Gorgeous, as always.

Harry leaped down the last two stairs, making Ginny glance up with an amused smile. He grinned and kissed her cheek softly.

Ready to go?

She nodded, taking his hand. He immediately felt warmth rush back through him, gripping her fingers as she picked up her bag.

I felt it too. She assured him, giving him a soft kiss on his lips. Harry wrapped his arm around her and gave her a half hug before holding her hand again.

They trooped downstairs together, Ginny wasn't wearing her cloak, instead she had it over her arm. Harry's tie was slung over his shoulder, as he hadn't bothered to tie it that morning, and his shirt was slightly untucked. By the end of the day, he'd probably shed his heavy cloak as well. His book bag was over his shoulder, the brown strap stressing against his shoulder, but he didn't have any trouble carrying it. Another perk of the Bond.

They sat together at the table, hands laced by their sides as they filled their plates. Ron didn't even glance up when they sat, but Hermione smiled and waved before turning back to whatever book she was reading.

I think my brother is still upset...

Don't let him get to you, Gin.

I know. Same goes for you!

Harry laughed, making Hermione and Ron glance up with raised eyebrows. Well, Ron was glaring. The Bonded shook their heads and Hermione looked away, back to the book again.

Ginny finished her plate before Harry, sitting silently and watching the people around the Hall. Many people kept glancing in their direction, and Ginny wondered what rumors were circulating about them this year. Last year it was that they were dating, now it would probably be ten times worse.

Ginny sensed Harry stand and grabbed her bag, throwing on her cloak as she now felt slightly chilly, and they headed to McGonagall who was holding the time sheets. Ginny went up for hers first, but McGonagall waved Harry over.

"Okay you two, you'll be having classes together this year, since Ms Weasley is in Fourth Year as well." She gave them a stern look, that softened a bit before she turned to the other tired students.

Ginny could feel happiness radiate off of Harry as they made their way to their first class, Herbology with the Hufflepuffs.

"Double Divination?" Harry groaned, pointing at the end of the schedule. Ginny scowled slightly, thinking of the last time she'd seen Trelawny. The woman had bugged her about the Bond all through class, ranting about a Prophecy and how she was sorry.

Ginny had ignored her, but now a sick feeling spread in her stomach. She didn't know why, but she had a feeling she'd dislike this year way more than the last.

Hey, are we still going to train with Sirius? Ginny asked, hoping to pull her thoughts away from the other subject. Harry shrugged, running his fingers through his hair.

I don't know. He seemed to run out of things to teach us last year. Her boyfriend responded. They'd made it to the Greenhouses and now they sat beside each other, putting their bags on the floor.

Harry, your tie! Ginny scolded, turning him around and quickly tying the fabric. Harry gave her a sheepish smile and planted a kiss on her nose.

Thanks, Gin.

The class started, leaving the two ultimately bored. They'd already learned a lot of stuff from their frequent trips to the library, so it wasn't difficult at all. They mostly just doodled in their notebooks and teased each other. Ginny would throw a leaf at Harry and he'd poke her side. A quick kiss on the cheek that left the receiver red in the face.

Sprout let the class go slightly early, but only a few minutes. Harry and Ginny were once again walking down the crowded halls, holding hands tightly. Suddenly Ginny stopped, turning to face Harry.

What's the next class?

He seemed to realize they'd just been walking in a random direction for five minutes. They'd probably be late! But they'd been so caught up in each other, they forgot.

Uhm. He stumbled while pulling out the schedule and Ginny laughed, placing a hand on his shoulder and guiding them to a less crowded hall. Suddenly, he smirked, shoving the paper back into his bag. Break.

Ginny sensed where his mind was heading, and made to intercept. Good, we can get this homework done. And she tugged him towards the Common Room. He groaned, throwing her a dirty look. She smiled sweetly as they made their way through the halls.

Fine. He gave in, bounding up the stairs towards the Fat Lady Portrait. Ginny smiled again, following.

Now, as they finished reading in the Herbology book, lounging on the couch. Ginny laid her head on Harry's lap, closing her eyes softly. The sick feeling was going away, but she still felt slightly cautious. Something bad was at play, and she didn't know what it was.

Harry kissed her forehead softly, watching her conscience fade as she drifted to sleep. Positioning them so he was embracing her as he laid on the large couch, he watched her face twist in different ways before she sighed into his chest and settled.

He ran his fingers through her hair, breathing in her scent as she slept. He didn't feel tired, but instead closed his eyes and tried to feel the Bond. If he could just concentrate, he would be able to see her dream. He didn't want to intrude, of course, but he had come to enjoy these moments. Holding her body close, watching as her creative mind made up worlds and colors and people, the scenarios that she could see all while asleep.

Harry moved a lock of hair from her face and she twitched, her arm snaking around his waist and pulling her closer to him. He was glad that not many people had a free period at this time, or at least they didn't want to come all the way to the Common Room.

Harry placed his hand on her hip, going back to concentrating. He felt her mind, a presence that had appeared on her birthday when he'd put the ring on her finger. That's where her voice came from. It was at the back of his own mind, and he could still feel it's loving pressure even when she was asleep.

He sighed, catching flashes of colors before coming back to the Common Room. He felt slightly drained, even in that small amount of time. He began to lose his connection to her mind as his eyes drifted close. He'd have to practice more later.

And so, they fell asleep. Not even thinking about the next set of classes.

Hi! Quick Question!
What did you think of the cover for Something Sweet? It's in the last authors note, if you forgot what it looks like!
