Chapter 6
A few weeks later, Hermione began talking to Ron again, Harry stayed silent most of the time or would go with Blaise and Draco somewhere. Ron figured Harry felt awkward about everything that has happened. Which was technically true.
Hermione sat down on the couch with Pansy after classes. "does Harry seem off to you?"
Pansy shrugged, "I think you should ask Dray that. He spent most of his life watching him. Maybe you should talk about that when he comes to study. He might just feel stressed about quidditch." Pansy stood up and walked to the door and opened it. Harry stood out there with his hand up ready to knock. Pansy grabbed her plant, "I better go and work with Weasley. Bye."
Harry walked in, "ready to work?"
Hermione called him over to the couch. Harry sat down next to her and gave her a small smile. "is everything all right Harry?"
He nodded, "don't worry. Let's just get to work, yeah?"
Hermione knew he wouldn't say what was bothering him and that it wasn't wise to pressure him. They got to work and managed to finish their homework in a few hours.
Hermione and Harry moved on to playing chess on her bed. "How's quidditch going?"
Harry shrugged, "I had practice before coming here. I hope it goes well. How's everything with Ron?"
Hermione smiled, "we've been talking about you actually. Ron misses his best mate."
"Yeah." Harry looked down, "can I sleep here tonight? Draco and Asty are, you know?"
Hermione felt her cheeks heat up, "oh. Yeah, you can stay. I'm sure Pansy won't mind. She shouldve been back by now."
Harry smiled, "thank you. I'll transfigure the couch into a bed."
They continued playing and talking until Pansy came back. Her cheeks were rosy and her eyes were brighter than Hermione had ever seen. "where were you?"
Pansy smiled, "I just stayed talking with Weasley. He's funny when he's not fighting over the plant. I got my homework done too." Pansy cleared her throat and looked at Harry, "today is their anniversary, I'm guessing you'll be staying here?" Harry nodded, "perfect, let's do facials! Maybe I can get Hermione to finally join in on a school night if you join me."
Harry shrugged, "sure. My skin is actually a bit dry from flying."
Pansy squeeked, "I'll get my stuff!"
Hermione turned to Harry and raised an eyebrow, "Harry it's a school night."
Harry blushed, "I'm learning how to treat myself to something nice Mione. I've never done this, I think it'll be good for me. Please do it for me."
"Ok, but this weekend you'll let me give you a back massage. You've never allowed me to do that."
"I don't want to bother you." Harry mumbled.
Hermione grabbed his hand, "let me do nice things for you."
Pansy cleared her throat again, "sorry to interrupt but can you two change into pyjamas. Harry you can borrow a sweater I stole from Blaise if you want."
Harry nodded and grabbed the sweater and went into the bathroom so the girls could change in peace. Pansy smirked, "that sweater fits everyone big. Blaise is so tall and wears oversized sweaters a lot, Draco wore one and it fit him to his thighs. I bet it'll be the same for Potter."
When Harry could finally come out Hermione smiled, Pansy was right. Harry looked cute in the sweater. He didn't look like a Harry Potter everyone wanted him to be, a tough looking guy just because he defeated the dark lord. He looked like a normal young adult who didn't have anything really planned out. Like someone who wanted to just be seen as human.
Harry sat down next to Hermione and took off his glasses. He looked different but still Harry. Hermione grabbed his hand to comfort him before Pansy began putting the mask on him. He flinched at first, not used to someone other than Hermione putting a gentle hand on his face.
When Pansy finished with him she helped Hermione with hers and finally finished with herself. "this should help you with your dry skin Harry. You can always come to me when you need something like this because of quidditch. Sometimes I have Blaise and Draco because they need it. They take their looks very seriously."
Harry smiled at the thought of having those opportunities, he did like talking to Pansy. She was very understanding, he was glad they all gave each other second chances at friendship. "thank you for the offer Pansy."
They let their masks do their effect while they talked. Finally Pansy had them wash their face. Harry went to the couch and made it into a bed. The girls let him borrow some blankets and pillows so he'd be comfortable.
Harry sat laid awake in the darkness looking up. He had his glasses off but its not like he needed them. He was confused about his feelings. Draco and him had been talking and Draco all of a sudden told him it was tricky to like a friend. It could either go good because they could move on from that and not make it awkward or maybe they could feel the same. Or it could go bad because it could make awkward and you could potentially lose someone dear to you.
He wondered why he had said that.
Suddenly he heard footsteps getting close to him. They sounded like Hermione's. "Mione?"
"sorry, I couldn't sleep. I hope I didn't wake you up."
Harry smiled, "I couldn't sleep either. Do you want to lay down with me until you're sleepy?"
Hermione got next to him, "what's on your mind?" She asked as she pushed his hair back.
"it's nothing important. You're going to come the the quidditch match right?"
"obviously Harry. I have to make sure you don't die." Harry laughed. "Harry, you do know that you can tell me when something is wrong, right? It doesn't matter what it is."
Harry nodded, "you can also tell me anything Mione."
Hermione smiled closing her eyes, "I'm happy we're friends."
Harry let out a small laugh hidint the fact that being friends bothered him. He didn't know why exactly, he loved being around Hermione, of course they were friends. "me too."
They fell asleep.
