Don't Punch People In The Face

Mikey held my hand as he walked me home. We talked of school and whatnot.

"...when's the cast coming off?" I asked.

"The doctor said it should be off this Friday."

"Friday? Isn't-"

"Yeah, the dance..." He began, "I'll be getting it off before so, I might be late picking you up."

"Oh, it's okay," I reassured him, "My mom is taking me dress shopping tomorrow night."

"Cool, I dunno what I'll wear. I don't really have anything super nice," He said, "But, I'll do my best to look good for you." I smiled, then kissed his cheek as we approached my house.

"I'm sure you'll look amazing no matter what you wear. See ya tomorrow?" I asked.

"Yeah, tomorrow..." Before he could leave, I hugged him tight, and took in the sent of lavender drier sheets, "Don't miss me too much..." He kissed the top of my head.

"You already know I will," I pulled away, gazing into his eyes, "Goodbye Mikey..."

"Goodbye Y/n..." I turned towards the front door, and walked inside. There was a smile stuck on my face and I'm sure I was blushing as well. Mikey ran around my mind so much that I hadn't even noticed my mother sitting in the kitchen, eyeing me.

"Y/n... earth to Y/n..." I finally gazed up at her.

"Where've you been?" She asked.

"Oh, I was at Mikey and Gerard's." I answered, not entirely sure what kind of response I would receive.

"You're hanging out with boys?" 'You're hanging out with boys?' What kind of question is that? I've always hung out with boys...

"Uh, yeah, they're really cool. We listened to The Smiths and talked about school." I explained.

"What's that on your hand?" I hummed, pulling it up to show. There were spots of dried blood on the knuckles. I almost completely forgot about that...

"Oh, I punched a guy in the face cause he wouldn't leave me alone. He's a real creep."

"Y/n, you really shouldn't have done that."

"Why not? He was making me uncomfortable. I had to do something!" My dad then entered the room.

"What's going on?" He asked. I turned to him.

"I punched a guy in the face for making me feel uncomfortable." He hummed.

"Good for you kid," He said. My mom then sent him a look, "...but! You shouldn't punch people in the face. Could make your knuckles bleed," My mom sent another look, "Er, uhm, I dunno! Don't punch people in the face!" And he left the room again.

"Don't listen to your father. Did you get in trouble at all?" I shook my head.

"He was a senior, so the teacher did nothing. He definitely deserved that punch though for drowning my friends in piss!" My mom sighed, still irritated.

"Go get your father again so we can start dinner, we'll discuss this more later." I nodded. Should've kept my fucking mouth shut...

Time skip to the next day at school

"...I wanna get a black dress, but I'm sure my mom will try to make me wear something else. Maybe a black and white dress?" I told my boyfriend as we walked down the halls to second period.

"Cool..."

"Yeah, I dunno if you need to know this. I guess if you wanna match or something..."

"Do you wanna match?" He asked as we walked inside the classroom. I shrugged.

"It doesn't really matter to me."

"Alright..." We sat down and Frank immediately came over to us.

"Wassup, nerds," He greeted, but began talking before we could respond, "I asked a girl to the dance." He spoke so confidently.

"Yeah? Who?" I asked.

"Patti, she's a junior." I waited for him to say more about her but it seemed he didn't know anything else.

"What did this girl say?" Mikey asked. Frank shrugged.

"I slid a note in her locker." Mikey sent a confused look.

"A note in her locker? Dude, no one uses the lockers." It's true, unless you're in high AP type classes with tons of textbooks, you carried your bag around with you like everyone else.

"She uses one!" He said, "She's super smart." We both hummed.

"Cool..." Mikey spoke as the bell rang. Everyone took their seats.

"Hey," Kim greeted as she sat across from me, "I gotta date to the dance!" She sang.

"I heard, you and Gerard?" She nodded, excitedly.

"Yeah, he was so sweet asking me..." She went on and on, gushing about him. I sent small smiles and glances towards Mikey who returned them. Cute...

When class finally ended, Mikey and I separated to our next classes. It felt as if everyone was chatting about how excited they were for the dance. But I couldn't blame them. I was equally stoked.

"Y/n?" Gerard asked, standing by my desk. I hummed, "You're friends with Kim? Right?" I nodded, "Cool, uhm, do you happen to know what her favorite flower is?" I smiled, but shook my head.

"No, sorry. I can ask her though."

"Alright, thanks..." He said. But he just kept standing there, rocking back and forth on his heels as he thought, "Y/n? You're a girl, right?" I just sent a confused look.

"...yes..."

"Okay, what do girls like?" He then took the empty seat beside me and opened up a notebook.

"Uhm," I thought for a moment, "Well, it depends on the girl. But, Kim likes going out. She likes bright colors, dying her hair, and horror movies."

"... dying... hair... horror... movies... anything else?" I hummed, thinking.

"She likes David Bowie..." I watched as Gerard scribbled that down, "I don't know too much about her. We're not super close or anything..."

"That's okay! I got everything!" He got up, holding the closed notebook underneath his arm, "Thanks..."

"No problem..." He went back to his desk, just as the bell rang. The two of us began walking towards the cafeteria.

"Are you gonna go to the dance with anyone?" Gerard asked, more of wanting to know if I had some sort of date.

"Me and Mikey are going as friends." He scoffed.

"Bullshi-" As soon as we stepped into the cafeteria we saw Frank get a carton of milk poured over his head. I didn't know the person who had done it.

"Stay the fuck away from my girl!" The guy yelled, then walked off. Gerard and I ran over to Frank as he began to get up, ready to throw down.

"Frank!" Gerard yelled. His fiery gaze met Gerard's, "Don't hit him, he's not worth it!"

"He fucking poured milk all over my favorite hoodie! Of course he's worth it!" Frank stormed off towards the boy.

"What's going on?" Mikey asked, causing me to jump, "Sorry..."

"It's okay," I found Ray standing beside him as well, "That girl Frank asked out has a boyfriend who drenched Frank in milk. Frank wants to throw hands. Gerard is trying to stop him."

"Oh shit..." Ray joined Gerard across the cafeteria, trying to reason with Frank. Mikey just stood and watched along with me.

"This might not go well."

"Yeah, I figured." Mikey breathed a chuckle. The boyfriend stood up as Frank tried to throw a punch. Ray grabbed Frank and dragged him away. Our eyes were glued to the scene.

"Who do you think would win?" Mikey asked. I hummed, "If those two fought?"

"Oh," I through for a moment, "Isn't he more of a jock? Football player?"

"Yeah..." Mikey said.

"The guy. He's taller and stronger than Frank."

"Yeah, but when Frank gets in a fight..." Mikey didn't even finish his sentence as we watched Gerard apologize to the people while Ray struggled to tear Frank away. Frank just kept prying out. I guess being short does have its advantages.

"Geez, Frank seriously wants to tear this guy a new asshole..." Mikey said. I immediately started giggling, keeping my eyes on the scene.

"What!?" I asked through my laughter.

"You heard what I said..." As my laughter died down, I held a hand over my mouth.

"Does he ever get tired?" I asked, watching Frank wriggle out of Ray's grasp for the tenth time now.

"No..." He said, "One time this same sorta thing happened where they had to tear him away and it took them hours to drag him back to our house."

"Damn..." I spoke, "How long do you think it'll take them this time?"

"Hopefully, before lunch ends." Oh yeah... food...

"We should probably-" But before I could finish speaking, Frank managed to throw a punch, "Oh shit!"

"Woah!" Mikey cried. I held my hands over my mouth, wanting to cover my eyes but at the same time being unable to look away.

"Oh, you wanna go, Iero!?" We heard the guy yell.

"No! He didn't mean any-" Gerard tried.

"Yeah, let's fucking go!" Frank screamed.

"This is gonna get bad. Gerard and Ray can't do much now..." Mikey spoke. As the guy's fist collided with Frank's face, Gerard and Ray stepped back. One of my hands subconsciously reached out for Mikey's. He took it, rubbing the back soothingly.

"Oh god..." I spoke.

"Hey! Hey! Get, off of him!" Finally, a teacher intervened. He pulled Frank off of the guy. The short boy didn't struggle to get out this time.

"Alright! Alright! I'm done!" The teacher let go of him. Blood dripped down Frank's chin which came from his lip. The guy took a moment to gain balance again, while, who I assumed to be, his girlfriend helped him.

"You think we should head over there?" I asked.

"Uh," He thought, "Yeah..." We did so, Mikey let go of my hand. Frank was sat at one of the cafeteria tables, but sat backwards as to face us instead of the empt seats in front of him.

"...holy shit Frank, what were you thinking!? He's ten times bigger than you!" Ray scolded.

"I still hit him." Ray kept on scolding Frank while Gerard turned to us.

"And where the fuck were you two!? Didn't help at all!"

"Last time this happened you told me to stay out of it!" Mikey exclaimed.

"I couldn't move..." Was all I said.

"Ugh, you guys are no help!" Gerard cried.

"Okay, fine," I said, then walked over to Frank. I set a hand on his shoulder as Ray stood behind me, "He deserved it." Frank smiled, Ray immediately stood in front of me.

"No! No he didn't!" Ray cried. I walked back over to Mikey.

"Nice..." We high-fived just as the bell rang.
