wren alouette huxley knows that her last name may raise some brows, which is precisely why she always includes it in her primary introductions. she was spoiled with gifts as a teenager and young adult, but wren still maintains that the family name was the best present her parents ever gave her. her father's hard work equips her with a certain level of prestige -- something she'd be a fool to not take advantage of.

AGE !

she's a mere nineteen years old, but wren still believes she knows everything. well, everything that's important to know, anyhow.

SEXUALITY !

wren is bisexual, though this is one aspect of herself she's never really felt the need to broadcast. no official coming out, she's always just known, and so have the people around her.

APPEARANCE !

standing at a slightly shorter than average 5'4, wren prefers to wear heels whenever the opportunity is presented -- she's mastered the feat of going up to 4 inch stilettos -- because it makes her feel more powerful. her wavy blonde hair against her pale face and big bright eyes makes her look angelic and innocent; at least, that's what people have told her. she doesn't mind presenting herself that way. after all, there's nothing more dangerous than a cunning girl in disguise as a naive one. she never leaves the house without a fashionable outfit on and at least a little bit of makeup; i mean, come on, she's got a reputation to uphold. her conventional beauty has taken her a long way in life, but at least she recognizes that fact.

PERSONALITY !

wren's ambition overpowers her personality so much that it's only fitting that it's mentioned first. this can be a wonderful quality a lot of the time, but in wren, it manifests as the base for a somewhat ugly personality. she has big dreams, and she doesn't particularly care about the means she uses to reach her end goal. she can be cunning, manipulative, and vain -- all in the name of doing what she has to do to get to where she wants to be.

there are very few people in this world whom wren genuinely cares about, and there are even fewer whom she respects. anyone below her self-defined high status (whether that be in terms of wealth or intelligence or anything else) is someone not worth paying any mind to, in her opinion. it's ironic, seeing as this was exactly how she was treated by others before her family came into their great wealth, and she absolutely hated it. but the irony doesn't strike her (or else, it's not enough to change her behavior) because she is quite often snarky or very subtly condescending to those whom she doesn't believe to be worthy of her time. it's important to note that she knows better than to be rude outright, though. if you don't look close enough, you might even begin to believe that she's quite sweet. she prefers to be like a flower vase -- looks pretty and harmless, but can cut deep in the right (or, i suppose, wrong) hands.

she's confident in herself and comfortable talking to people. in fact, most people that wren cares to make an impression on often end up liking her quite a bit. her charisma is one of her most killer qualities. it's gotten her many opportunities, both business-wise and personally (if you know what i mean ;)). wren's quite forward and flirtatious when she wants to be, and it's difficult not to admire her way with words. she's quite smart -- though not nearly as smart as she thinks she is -- and a quick thinker who thrives under pressure. wren is strong-willed in her beliefs and not easily persuaded; she knows how to stand her ground, something she learned at a young age from her mother.

anyone at the receiving end of one of her snobby remarks will probably claim that wren is a bad person. and maybe that is the case; it all depends on your point of view. but either way, wren certainly has room for growth and improvement. while her behavior can't be excused, it can be explained by a deep-seated sense of insecurity and fear of failure. most of her bitchiness is an act -- fake it til you make it kind of thing -- but she herself doesn't even know this. if she could just learn that putting others down and using people as stepping stones for her own selfish motives is not going to help her reach her goals quicker, maybe there could be some hope for her yet.

BACKSTORY !

wren stopped listening right around then. she sprinted to the bathroom of the fancy private elementary school where she clearly didn't belong, desperately trying to rub off the grass imprint in her pants with water and hand soap.

it's true, friends. the upper class existence that wren has all but built her personality around was not always her reality. in fact, her family was barely making ends meet throughout much of her childhood. her mother was a nanny for a very wealthy family, which is why she lived in the more high-end neighborhood in her city despite being metaphorically worlds apart from the other children at her school. and at that point in time, her father was just a struggling businessman -- trying to make it in the bustling fashion industry of ourania, but who wasn't? it seemed hopeless at the time, with his wife quite frequently encouraging him to quit entrepreneurship and get a more stable job. oliver huxley didn't listen. it wasn't until many years later that he finally succeeded in his endeavors.

enter huxley enterprises. wren was fifteen years old. her father finally decided to stray from the fashion aspect of things and focus on business. his idea was to create a one-stop shop where designers could display their latest pieces and the general public could buy "first draft" clothing (maybe the stitching was slightly misaligned or the ruching wasn't quite right) of high-end brands at a discount. it was basically a glorified thrift store (with a small bird for a logo to honor his only daughter -- how sweet, right? wren likes to bring it up as a casual conversation starter), but it blew up. people loved it. the huxley family majorly went from rags to riches. her father continued to reinvest and business has only gotten bigger and bigger over the past few years.

and so, wren began to surround herself with upper echelon folks. she was never again spotted in public wearing anything handmade or -- heaven forbid -- cheap. she turned into everything that younger her swore to always despise. it was her dream in elementary school to fit in with the crowd, and now she was one step above them all. maybe she turned into this vain, conceited person just to spite her former bullies, or maybe it was inside her all along.

FLAWS !

wren can be pretty arrogant. some have speculated that she may be a borderline narcissist. in reality, this trait stems from childhood insecurity. growing up, she's pretty much had to tell herself that she's all that and more in order to deal with the tiny voice in the back of her head that was saying she was worthless. unfortunately, what started as some moderate self-worth issues has turned into one of her ugliest characteristics. maybe the girl needs therapy.

she's manipulative. at this point, wren is pretty used to getting what she wants -- and she knows exactly how to do so. a little batting of the eyelashes, maybe some slight flirting, and she won't have to spend a penny of her trust fund to get the hottest new fragrance. men are so easy. thanks to harmonia's blessing, her power has only really exacerbated this trait.

wren doesn't have a lot of patience for people. she tends to snap at people and exclusively speaks in snark when she's irritated. this is actually something she is trying to work on minimizing (what? she's not completely horrid), especially because as she gets more popular she knows that mistreating employees is pretty much the fastest route to social banishment (okay, so there are some ulterior motives here, but at least she's making progress).

KINGDOM !

wren hails from ourania, as many might guess based on her people skills. she certainly fits the bill of the smooth talker stereotype, with maybe a little bit of feigned naivety to make herself more agreeable.

THOUGHTS ON THE ROYALS !

wren typically doesn't pay much mind to people whom she doesn't personally know. she applies the "out of sight, out of mind," mentality to practically everything in her life. and so, the royals didn't cross her mind often -- at least, not until she was selected. now, there is maybe some amount of jealousy in wren's heart when she thinks of them. they were born into power and wealth; they have always had everything. and how is that fair? the other part of her is somewhat intrigued. i mean, wren is rich, but by no means is she royalty. what do their lives look like? she's excited to get a closer look.

WHY SHE CHOSE TO BE HERE !

well, this is a prime opportunity to climb the social ladder, is it not? even if she isn't selected, after this experience, all the kingdoms will know her name. while piggy-backing off her father's success has served her well thus far, wren's ambition has always stated that her end goal is to make a name for herself. she's not in it for the love (but who knows? anything could happen) but still intends to stay in the game as long as she possibly can. and if a prince ends up falling for her... well, who is she to say no to that? princess wren does roll off the tongue. and, hey, people have gotten married for far less than a little bit of fame.

WHY SHE WAS BLESSED !

one of wren's strongest and best qualities is her ambition. she has big dreams, and perhaps harmonia could see that. far be it for the goddess of harmony and concord to bless someone who's heart is totally black, so maybe she also saw the bit of good left in wren* and the potential for her to become not only powerful, but decent. that's all speculation, though; wren's ego believes that she was blessed simply because she's the only one who'd really put this power to good use. trust me, she knows the value of controlling others' beliefs. this is one of the few things she's truly grateful for.

* wren was blessed soon after her family acquired their wealth; if it happened back when she was the target of several bullies, things might have turned out differently for her.

ABILITIES !

she has the power to sway opinion. wren uses this on occasion, usually when her natural charms aren't doing the trick -- to make people admire her, to get things for free, you name it. all she has to do is make physical contact with a person and tell them what they should believe. it's quite handy, though it's also limited by the fact that she can only affect three people at a time (which, it's already a struggle to touch that many people at the same time) and it gets more tiring the longer she does it.

OTHER !

she has a tendency to call others "darling," which is quite endearing, unless you're sharper than the average joe and can pick up on the ever-so-subtle condescension in her tone.

she's the proud mom of a white persian cat named chérie, who is one of the few creatures on this planet that wren has unconditional love for. she only speaks to chérie in french (a language wren is practically fluent in after several years of tutoring) and spoils her to no end -- a fact made evident by chérie's extensive wardrobe (yes, the cat has a whole closet) and above-average weight.

wren is actually quite the designer. before her family gained their wealth, she would sew many of her own clothes -- and they were good. unfortunately, the passion largely dwindled as the money rolled in and she was able to afford proper designer clothing. however, she still keeps a sketchbook to draw in whenever she's stressed; it's small, but it's sacred, and is always hidden away from all eyes but her own.

her favorite boutique is run by a sweet old woman named babette. wren often borrows her special outfits for a few days at a time to show them around town and advertise the boutique. that way, babette gets more business and wren never has to show up in the same look twice; it's a very cute little trade off they have going. babette treats her like a daughter and they've both gotten very close over the years.

you would think that someone as confident and in love with herself as wren would be gazing into their reflection at every opportunity, but actually she finds mirrors somewhat unsettling. she can't pinpoint exactly why or when the uneasiness started, but something about a material that is more or less undetectable without something in front of it rubs her the wrong way. it's not so intense a fear that she must avoid mirrors at all costs, she certainly won't look their way more than necessary.

her favorite color is brown. not a very common favorite color to have, but neutrals for the win! at least, when it comes to day-to-day fashion. on special occasions, wren likes to go big. the color is also a nod to the bird for which she is named, which only makes her like it more.
