CHAPTER TWELVE, unity and celebration

"Zombies and cheerleaders are on the floor together." One announcer revealed, his voice laced with surprise.

"You are watching history unfold." Another announcer chimed in.

Zombies and humans worked together to preform a routine. Davina was shocked that the crowd seemed to be enjoying it and she was even more shocked she enjoyed helping everyone with cheering. Beckett had joined them as well and seemed to be enjoying it too though he had always been a fan of cheerleading. He had always been good at it too. Honestly, Davina envied him a little because he was so flexible. Davina noticed out of the corner of her eye that Zoey, Zed's little sister, had ran over to Bucky, who was standing off to the side with an upset expression on his face. She smiled softly, thinking it was sweet to see Zoey trying to cheer Bucky up, maybe even convincing him to join. And to everyone's surprise (but hers since she assumed it would happen), Bucky ended up joining Zoey back on the mat and preformed the rest of the routine with the group. Even at one point, Bucky joined with Addison and some other cheerleaders to guide Bree to the back where some cheerleaders would help make her dream as a flyer come true. Davina thought she absolutely killed it and found the moment with her and Bonzo so sweet. Bonzo had caught her and twirled her around before blowing her a kiss which she pretended to catch.

The routine was successful. Everyone cheered and applauded loudly for them, even the announcers enjoyed it. Davina grinned as she celebrated with her boyfriend and friends, happy they had done so well. She was surprised and pleased they had gotten a good reaction out of the crowd. This was a great way to show how wrong everyone was. Zombies weren't monsters. They were just like everyone else, full of heart and spirit. The cheer championship turned into a celebration of unity and acceptance, and Davina felt a profound sense of accomplishment. As the routine ended and the crowd's cheers filled the air, Davina looked around at her friends and felt a rush of pride. Zed, Bonzo, Eliza, Addison, Bree, and even Bucky—all of them had come together to make this moment unforgettable. Davina's heart swelled with happiness as she saw how the event had brought people together, breaking down barriers and changing perceptions.

Seabrook didn't end up winning the Cheer Championship. Davina claimed it was rigged or something. She felt like they should've won after that awesome performance they put on. But honestly, something much better than winning a Cheer Championship happened. Zombies and humans now treated each other as equals. So much so there was even a block party in Zombietown for everyone to celebrate their newfound peace and unity. It was a great party, one Davina was sure she'd remember for a long time. There were lots of people and zombies celebrating, eating, dancing, laughing. Humans and zombies were interacting and treating each other as equals. She felt a sense of hope for the future and a renewed belief that the world was a place full of possibilities.

Davina walks with Zed over to where Zoey was playing with her stuffed animal, kneeling by a dog house. "Hey, Zoey." Zed greets his sister, kneeling down by her with Davina. He smiles at Zoey. "Look at what Davina got for you."

Zoey looks at Davina with a smile, but her face lit up when she saw the puppy in Davina's arms. "A puppy! It's so cute!"

Davina giggles a bit, something she had noticed she had been doing the more she hung out around Zed. Even with Zoey, that little girl was so cute and adorable. She gently hands the puppy to her, watching as the girl cuddled and held the puppy close. "I know how much you've wanted a puppy, and so I got some help with my uncle who's dog was pregnant and had some puppies. I told him about you and how you've been wanting a puppy and he said it was okay if you took one of his puppies."

Zoey beams, leaning over to hug her tightly but being careful of the puppy in her arms. "Thank you, thank you! This is the best day ever!"

"I'm glad you love him, Zoey. You take good care of him, alright?" Davina smiled fondly, hugging the young girl back.

"I will, promise!" Zoey promises with a bright smile. "I get my very own puppy!" She said excitedly, glancing down at the puppy she held. She grins at her stuffed dog. "Xander, this is Puppy." Davina couldn't help the giggle that left her again while she watched Zoey with her new puppy.

Zed watched the interaction with a fond smile, his heart swelling with affection for Davina and his little sister. He placed a gentle hand on Davina's shoulder, feeling grateful for her thoughtful gesture.

"Thanks for making Zoey's day," Zed said softly, his eyes reflecting his gratitude. "She's been dreaming of having a puppy for so long."

Davina smiles up at him, her eyes twinkling with happiness. "It was nothing. I'm just happy to see her so excited. She's so adorable." She commented as she stood up with Zed, the two of them walking away to let Zoey play with her new puppy.

Zed grins. "That she is." He stops walking, causing her to stop as well. "And so are you."

Davina's cheeks flushes pink at the compliment, a bashful smile spreading across her face. "I am? Well, I could say the same about you."

"Really?" Zed asked, sounding surprised.

Davina smiles and nods, leaning up to peck his cheek. "You're adorable. Especially when you're being cute with your sister. It makes me melt."

Zed's cheeks flushes slightly as he processed Davina's compliment and the affectionate peck on his cheek. He looked at her, a warm, genuine smile spreading across his face. "You know, you really have a way of making me feel special." He said, his voice soft and sincere.

Davina chuckles, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well, it's easy to feel special when you're surrounded by amazing people. Like you and Zoey. You two are pretty great."

Zed's face lit up, a wide grin spreading across his face. His eyes shone with affection and adoration as he gazed at her, his heart beating faster as he drank in her beauty. Davina truly was a breath-taking sight, and Zed felt blessed to be in her presence. He couldn't believe how lucky he was to have found such a wonderful person, and he vowed to cherish every moment they spent together.

Davina's smile widened, her heart melting from the look on Zed's face. She felt honored to be able to make Zed feel so special and appreciated, and she hoped she would be able to continue to bring joy into his life. She had never met anyone quite like him, and she was determined to hold on to him and keep him by her side for as long as possible. Zed had become an important part of her life, and she wasn't willing to let him go anytime soon.

Zed leans down, kissing her softly and cupping her cheek. Davina's cheeks flushed and her heart fluttered in her chest as she leaned up into the kiss. Her lips tingled from the kiss and she sighed happily, her eyes fluttering closed. When the kiss ended, the two of them gazed at each other with matching expressions of love and adoration.

"I love you." Zed said softly, his voice full of emotion.

Davina's face flushed, her eyes widening. This was the first time they had exchanged those three little words, and it was a moment she would never forget. Her heart swelled with love and affection for the handsome, kindhearted, zombie, and she felt herself falling even deeper in love with him. She then replies in zombie language that she loves him too. Zed's eyes widen, his mouth opening in disbelief. She had not only learned the zombie language, but also she had said she loved him back. It was a moment that would be forever etched into his memory, and he knew he would treasure it always.

Zed wraps his arms around her, his face breaking out into a wide, happy grin. "I can't believe you learned zombie tongue. You're amazing." He gushes, his heart racing with happiness and excitement. "I love you so much." He picked her up, spinning her around and causing her to laugh.

"I love you, Zed." Davina giggled, smiling brightly at him. She felt a sense of joy and contentment wash over her as she embraced him, feeling safe and loved in his arms. She was glad that she had taken a chance on the green-haired, zombie boy. He had turned out to be the best thing that had ever happened to her, and she couldn't imagine her life without him in it.

Davina wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close, resting her head on his chest. She listened to the sound of his heartbeat, the steady rhythm soothing her soul. The two of them stayed like that for a few moments, just basking in each other's presence. It was a moment of peace and tranquility, and they both savored it. As they held each other, the lively sounds of the block party continued around them, but in their little bubble, everything felt perfectly serene. The warmth of Zed's embrace and the steady beat of his heart created a sense of comfort and security that Davina had never felt before. It was a feeling that she knew she would cherish forever, and she couldn't imagine her life without it.

As the night wore on, the festivities continued. There were plenty of laughs and smiles, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Zed and Davina stayed by each other's sides throughout the night, sharing loving glances and secret kisses. It was a night full of happiness and celebration, and everyone felt hopeful about the future. After all, if they could come together and celebrate their differences, then there was no limit to what they could accomplish. Now that the zombies and humans were working together, there was no telling what they could achieve and change. As the moon rose in the sky and the party wound down, Davina felt a sense of fulfillment and contentment. It had been a long journey, but it had been worth it. She couldn't imagine her life without Zed in it, and she was grateful for the chance to have found him. He had brought so much joy and happiness into her life, and she hoped that their love would continue to grow and flourish. With him by her side, anything was possible, and she couldn't wait to see what the future held.
