Prologue

I'm an avid reader. The books I read often fuel my active imagination. As a published author, the need for creativity drives me. Some of my favorite books to read are thrillers or mysteries (stemming from a childhood full of Scooby Doo).

So, naturally, as a young adult, I've taken a particular liking to reading James Pattersson books. I read them fast, because they're short chapters and paced that way.

I've found myself once again at the local library. My escape place. I'm rummaging through the massive collection, on the hunt for my next book to read. I pick up "Blindside" from the shelf. I had selected it previously, having wanted to read it. I'd had a nice bunch already though, but this time it'll be my first choice.

I flip it open to check how many chapters there are. It's a bizarre thing that I do. Mental calculation of how many chapters there are and how long it'll take. But as I get to the last chapter of the book, a folded piece of paper greets my vision.

Curious like a cat, I pluck it out. People often leave notes or paper in books. Usually it's by accident, being used as a bookmark and just forgotten when the book is turned back in. USUALLY.

I carefully unfold the paper and see a short, interesting note scribble on it:

"I know your cute little secret."
