Chapter One
That's all the paper says. Six simple cloy words. I chuckle and flip the paper around, looking to see if there is more. I even take a chance to look around me. Is someone there, watching me? Is this a game of some kind?
I see nothing but an empty library. Not many visit at this hour, it's why I choose to come at his time. I take the book with me and find a chair nearby to sit in.
It's just a harmless little joke by a random stranger, right?
I'm actually thinking it's just a fun experiment by someone to see if anyone will actually respond to the note.
Harmless.
I take out a purple pen that I usually carry around with me. Purple is my favorite color. I smile as I scribble a response back to them:
"Yeah, right. What is it then, mysterious jokester?"
I can't check this book out yet, I realize. So I pack my pen back up in my bag and get to my feet. I return the book to its shelf and instead check out two other books, peaking my interest, "Beach Road" and "The Beach House."
I check out, the librarian eyeing me oddly like I've got something on my face. I don't catch her strange look though. I then exit, also missing the librarian's stare, watching me closely as I leave.
It's just a harmless experiment.
Completely and utterly harmless.
Right?
