Returned

"The author of the journals... my brother,"

Stan stood again as he watched the man pull his face mask down and showed more clearly of the face of his own twin brother.

There was rage and disbelief in the other man's eyes but his priorities were elsewhere. He set the smaller person from his back to lean against a broken piece of cement, it was clear now the smaller person was unconscious. And how they both were injured, seeing scratches all over stanfords face and a gash on his upper arm. While on the small one there was a gash under its knee and also covered in scratches.

"After all these years I can't believe it," Stanford heard a familiar voice approaching.

"Brother!" Stan cried out happily but was met with a fist in his face.

"Keep your god damn distance," the scientist warned in a low growl.

"This was an insanely risky move restarting the portal, Didnt you read my warnings?" Stanford stood in front of the injured small being.

"How about thank you for saving you from some sci-fi sideburn dimension? Maybe that guy is more grateful?" Stan rolled his eyes.

"Thank you? You really think I'm going to thank you for what you did all those years ago?" His brother was baffled by the other man.

Stan was about to argue back but Stanford heard the small one behind him make a sound and turned his back on his brother.

"Hey, you with me?" The six finger man snapped his fingers and removed the hood, goggles and mask over the face.

"Whoa.. that's a child?" Stan saw the young face.

"Yes he's a child? You think full grown adults are this small in other dimensions?" Stanford scoffed and checked the boys pulse.

"Whoa he's like our age," Mabel walked up to them making the old man jump in surprise.

"Stan you didn't tell me you had other children down here," Stanford looked at her surprised and finally noticed dipper and soos as well.

"Hi I'm Mabel, so like what the heck is going on here?" She smiled innocently.

"They're your family point dexter, shermy's grandkids," Stan explained with his hands on his hips.

"I have a niece and nephew?" Stanford smiled a little at them.

"I would love to greet you both but I have to help my partner first," he nodded to them as he ripped the bottom of Leo's coat to wrap his leg.

"Is he going to die?" Mabel asked a little worried seeing the blood.

"He's a tough boy, he won't die," he reassured her but tied tightly around Leo's small leg to stop that from bleeding first.

"How old is the kid?" Stan was also now worried by the unconscious child.

"He's young, too young to be getting hurt like this," the scientist sighed, he hated putting a child in danger.

"I'll meet you upstairs, but tell me is there anyone else that knows about this place, or anyone followed you?" Stanford asked his twin brother as he gently placed his hand on Leo's forehead to make sure he wasn't getting a fever.

"No, no one knows... expect maybe the entire U.S government," Stan crossed his arms.

"The what?!"

They heard the little boy make sounds that started to sound like crying as he twisted his face in pain and finally opened his eyes.

"What-What's going on?" Leo whimpered as he tried to reach for his knee in pain but was to weak.

"It's me, Stanford," the older man whispered and Leo looked at him confused but noticed other people.

"who are they?" The little boy sat up more and scooted into stanfords arms.

"We made it back to the home dimension, we're safe for now," Stanford held his son close to comfort him. He didn't know yet to reveal that leo was practically his son, he didn't know if he could trust them fully.

"Hi, I'm Mabel, this is my brother dipper and my great uncle Stan, and our friend soos," the twin girl came up ecstatic to make a new friend but Leo looked more afraid by her energy.

"I'm Leo," he looked down and used his jacket to cover his nose.

"I can't believe this, you're the author of the journal!" Dipper finally spoke as he's been in shock of what has been happening.

"You've read my journals?" Stanford smiled softly looking back at him.

"I haven't just read them I've lived them, I've been waiting so long to meet you I don't even know what to say I have so many questions-" dipper rambled till he started hyperventilating to gagging. Mabel ran over patting him on the back seeing he was fighting to urge to throw up.

"False alarm- urg- just gotta ride it out," he put his hand on the wall.

The author raised a brow at the child and went to focus on his own again as Leo also had a raised brow confused.

"Come on kiddo, we gotta patch up," Stanford picked up the child and carried him to find some sort of medical equipment.

"Stanley where did you move all of my stuff?" Stanford held his boy close as Leo peaked over his shoulder watching the people behind him.

"Stanley? I thought your name was Stanford," dipper crossed his arms.

"What? You took my name? What have you been doing all these years you knucklehead?" Stanford yelled again as he walked into the control room where he saw his journals laying. He set Leo in the chair, the younger boy grabbed the journal in curiosity.

"I've had to do a lot to keep your name alive," Stan grabbed a medical kit from the closet and handed it to his brother.

"So like what's wrong with the kids eyes?" Soos finally spoke up and Leo glared at him sharply.

"He was born with it, nothing wrong with him," Stanford didn't bat an eye and dug through his medical equipment. Leo waited patiently and stayed silent now.

"So we have a Stanley and a Stanford now? Doesn't that get confusing?" Soos tried to laugh it off.

"Well then you can just call me ford and call him Stan," the older twin shrugged.

"For now we just have to lay low and think of a plan, it'll be a while before those government agents find this room, we have time," ford grabbed something to sanitize Leo's leg.

"So now can we talk about how what when where and why? Since we have the time now," Mabel peaked over as ford rolled up Leo's pant to reveal his wound.

"Yea grunkle stan no more lies, we want some answers, what's the deal with this portal? Why did you keep this a secret?" Dipper turned back to his great uncle.

"Yea and what happened between you and your brother?" Mabel put her hands over her chest in sympathy for their mysterious backstory.

"I know I know I have a lot of explaining to do to everyone, I guess it all started a life time ago," Stan started his life story about where it all began. When they were just only innocent children.
