Chapter Seven: The Second Attempt

~Your POV~

My stomach dropped as I caught sight of the person I saw behind me. I hardly had time to react before a vine was wrapped around my mouth, preventing me from screaming.

"Now, now, we wouldn't want Toriel or Frisk hearing us." The flower said, a demented smile on his face. More vines wrapped themselves around my body and I was forced to the ground, my chair falling to the floor. Before it collided with the ground, Flowey caught it with even more vines and placed it on the ground carefully.

My SOUL was ripped from my body, making me screech into the vine. But it was way too muffled for anyone to hear except Flowey. I was having difficulty breathing, the vines were so tightly wrapped around my body. There was no escape. Several white pellets surrounded it, ready to strike. He certainly wasn't wasting any time, he probably just wanted to get it over with before anyone caught him.

"Hmm, I wonder... will you turn to dust or will your lifeless face be seen by Toriel when she wakes up?" Flowey sneered, his face contorting into one from my nightmares. I tried to bite at the vine that was over my mouth, but it was like my jaw was wired shut.

The seeds struck all at once, but they didn't hit my SOUL. Instead, they seemed to freeze right around the border of my SOUL. A faint purple barrier could be seen around it. I let out a sigh of relief, someone had known something like this might happen and decided to protect me. I have a feeling I knew who. I could feel that feeling of being watched again, and not by Flowey.

"You've got to be kidding me." Flowey growled, sending another wave of pellets towards my SOUL. But once again, it couldn't penetrate the barrier. I smirked against the vine, my confidence building.

I glanced at a nearby chair, if I managed to move my legs enough I could make it fall and perhaps create enough noise to wake someone. Frisk had the closer room, maybe they could help.

I was set in my decision, I quickly moved my bound legs in unison. The chair was toppled to the ground with a thunk, it unfortunately didn't make the amount of noise I thought it would. I decided to frantically squirm around too, maybe I could loosen the vines enough.

Instead the vines constricted more painfully, and they suddenly grew thorns that pierced through my fragile skin. But just like last time, it didn't really hurt that much. My blood seeped through my clothes, before quickly spreading onto the vines. Flowey cursed under his breath, realizing his mistake. The vines crippled under the blood's strength.

I ripped the vine around my mouth and before Flowey could stop me, I screamed. A high, varied pitch, garbled scream that shook the house. Flowey was temporarily petrified for a moment, and I grabbed his stem before he could run away.

I heard footsteps crash through the hallway, and I ripped Flowey from the ground. I stood up shakily, using the table as leverage. Frisk arrived first, and I showed them the defeated and uprooted flower in my hands.

"...Hi, Frisk." He said awkwardly, glaring at me with hatred in his eyes. Toriel quickly arrived to, fear in her eyes before she saw Flowey in my grasp.

"Oh my goodness! What happened?!" She exclaimed, a hand over her mouth as she spotted the black blood oozing from my wounds that were slowly closing up.

I gestured to Flowey, then at my SOUL which had followed me when I stood up, then at my blood. I'm sure she could connect the dots.

Toriel put a hand over her heart, taking in a few deep breaths as she processed the situation. Frisk walked over, Chara was staring at Flowey with an unidentifiable emotion.

"You're seriously still trying to steal human SOULs?" Frisk asked Flowey, their arms crossing and an eyebrow raised.

"You wouldn't understand." Flowey growled, staring at Frisk with poisonous hatred. I wondered why he didn't try to take Frisk's, they were asleep while I was awake. They were a much easier target.

"Whatever you say. But if you try to hurt Y/n again I'm telling Sans." Frisk said, and I could see a flash of genuine fear appear on Flowey's face, before quickly disappearing. I tried to indirectly tell Frisk that Sans already knew about him, but I couldn't.

I decided to let Flowey go, he was starting to squirm uncomfortably in my grasp. He fell to the ground with a thump and quickly disappeared into the earth.

I wiped my hands in slight triumph. I wasn't completely helpless, well I guess I did get help from a certain someone. There was some pollen on my hands that made me sneeze violently, power surged through my body and I made sure to keep my eye faced away from the three looking at me.

"Are you alright? Is... is that blood?" Frisk asked, their voice shaking a little. I nodded and put a little bit of it onto my finger, I still had absolutely no idea how it was able to crush those thick vines.

"Oh... well we'll get you patched up." They grabbed my hand but I didn't move when they tried to usher me to the bedroom, presumably where a first aid kit was. They looked at me inquiringly, but I raised my shirt a bit to show that the wounds had already sealed.

Everyone was staring in confusion and slight shock that I had managed to heal myself. I felt uncomfortable at the attention and pulled the shirt back down again. The only one's who stares I didn't mind was Chara's, even if it was with bewilderment. There really was something wrong with me.

"Well, um, I guess if you're alright we should get back to bed."

I nodded, and only just noticed how petrified Toriel looked. Her breathing was heavy, she still had a hand to her heart, and she was leaning against the wall.

"Are you alright?!" I exclaimed, my voice sounding like nonsense as I rushed over to her. She hugged onto me like her life depended on it, fresh tears running down her face.

Frisk quickly rushed over too, and it became a group hug. I looked over at Frisk in concern, they returned the same kind of look. Why was Toriel acting like this?

"I'm- I'm sorry..." She apologized, wiping her nose with a furry hand.

"You have nothing to be sorry for, but what's wrong?" Frisk questioned, asking the question I couldn't.

"I-it's just... I could of lost you again..." Toriel answered, turning to me with tears in her eyes. I was slightly shocked that the tears were for me, but I quickly pulled her into a hug.

I wish I could say what I wanted to, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't speak normally. It was just WingDings again, but I just hoped that she understood what I was trying to convey.

"T-Thank you... Alright, both of you should get some rest. It's... my goodness it's almost 3 AM." Toriel said, letting go of us and looking at a clock on the wall.

I followed Frisk and Chara back to the room and collapsed onto the air mattress. Chara looked like she wanted to say something to Frisk, but couldn't because she didn't want me hearing. Her eyes kept darting to Frisk, who had fallen asleep immediately, and me. There was a plus side to me not having pupils anymore, people wouldn't know where I was looking unless my head was turned that way. So I could stare at Chara from the corner of my eye without her having any idea. Now that I think about it, that sounded creepy.

I felt drowsiness wash over me, I suppose the magic that my body used to repair itself took a lot out of me. My eyes fluttered shut, and the realm of sleep engulfed me.

---

It was dark. I knew where I was as soon as I opened my eyes. Why was I here again? It made no sense. At least this time I knew it was a dream.

Chara stood out like a sore thumb in the blanketed darkness. She was like a light in the night, there to guide my way. I tiptoed my way to her, her back being faced towards me.

"BOO!" I yelled, making her jump extremely high in the air and scream at the top of her voice. Next second, I felt a sharp pain cut through my stomach. I looked down, she had stabbed a knife through me.

I felt some blood dribble out of my mouth as I looked back up at Chara who was staring at me in horror. It hurt, but not too bad.

"Oh look, I've been impaled." I joked, trying to reassure her that she hadn't actually done any damage to me. She stared at me for a few moments, then sniggered which made me laugh which triggered her to laugh with me. Her laughter made me laugh even more, and you get the picture. We were laughing our asses off in the VOID.

I slowly took the knife out of my body, which felt more uncomfortable than anything. It was covered in my own dark black blood that blended in with the VOID. I handed it back to her, and she took it back with a sheepish expression.

"Sorry for- uh- stabbing you." She apologized, dropping the knife on the ground so she wouldn't get my blood on her.

"It's cool, doesn't hurt for some reason." I shrugged, putting a hand on the wound before quickly pulling away because my blood felt really sticky and gross.

We fell into an awkward silence, both of us looking at the ground to avoid eye contact. She slowly walked away from me, resuming in looking around the empty black sky.

"This was all you had to see for 15 years?" Chara asked, spinning on her heel to look at me. I nodded, looking up at the sky with her.

"That must have been boring as hell." She said, sighing as she sat on the ground in boredom. I nodded again, walking over to sit down with her.

"It really was hell. The only company was my thoughts, and the only thing keeping me sane was my hope and patience." I replied, toying with a hole that Flowey had left on Frisk's sweater with his thorns.

At the word 'patience' something inside me throbbed, and my SOUL suddenly came out of my body. It looked bluer than usual, but maybe that was just because of the contrast of the VOID.

"Woah..." Chara breathed, her crimson eyes wide in slight alarm at my battered SOUL. It drifted a little ways to her, and she hesitantly looked up at me.

"I think it likes you." I smiled, a little bit of a blush appearing on my face. I don't think she noticed though. I tried to get my SOUL to come back into my body, but it was like a child that didn't want to go to bed.

"How the hell do you control these things..." I muttered, trying to make a grabbing motion like Gaster and Sans did when making my SOUL escape my body. However, it did nothing. In fact, my SOUL just drifted further away from me, right in front of Chara.

I gave up with a huff, dropping my hand to my lap. I must've looked ridiculous. I laid down on the ground, staring up at the emptiness above me that so resembled my eyes.

Past memories wafted into my mind as I stared into the familiar abyss above. Shaking on the ground, my knees pressed against my chest, crying out for help. I tried to suppress those kinds of memories, they weren't happy times.

I suddenly felt a bolt of immeasurable pain coarse through my body. I screamed aloud, my body instantly curling up to defend itself from the intruder.

"Sorry! Sorry! I couldn't resist!" Chara yelled in horror, standing up immediately. My SOUL shot over to me, stopping in front of my chest while I slowly recovered from the temporary intense pain. She must've poked it or something, it was shivering slightly.

"Its... fine." I gasped, my breath having completely left my body. I saw a crack open a little bit more on my SOUL, and some light blue blood dribbled from it. I felt extremely light headed now, and I put a shaky hand to my head and closed my eyes.

When I opened them, I was back in bed like none of it had ever even happened.
