Okay it's the next day and @Aextriot came up with an amazing theory

So they said that Petey's mom and grampa probably met when they were young. They got married at a young age (probably 19, 20, 21) but they couldn't keep the responsibility of a child (well, petey's mom could a little bit, since she was great with kids).
