The Green and Black Blade

Soul wandered around the 'meet and greet.' He didn't want a partner, not yet at least. Death himself had begged him to get a partner not to long ago. Soul recently left his family to go off and find out who he is, cause he's pretty sure he has no fucking idea. He stumbled along the girls who seemed to throw themselves at him. Typical, he thought, it's not my fault I'm so cool. He smirked and continued to walk around in circles. Even though he got so much attention he hated having to make small talk with random strangers. Soul continued around the amphitheater until he decided it was time to go. He's been here for hours and not one of these weapons are good enough to be his or they were just plain annoying. On his way out he bumped into a girl who, surprisingly, knocked him down too.

"Watch where your going." He spat. Soul picked himself up and brushed his jeans.

"Well excuse me! You knocked me over! You should apologize." The girl screamed. Soul noticed this girl was pretty small and some what...cute. Her hair was ruffled from the fall and her jeans hugged her legs. The legs rode up her body to a small chest, not to impressive, and a pretty face.

"I don't need to apologize for anything." He leaned in, teasing her. She didn't waver, she got even closer to his face, her bangs brushing his chin.

"A-p-o-l-o-g-I-z-e."

"I know how to spell it." He smirked.

"Humph, fine. If your not going to apologize...i'll be the bigger person here-"

"But I'm taller." Soul patted her head. She swatted his hand away and brushed her hair so it was back to its original state. SHe let out a puff of air and crossed her arms.

"I'm sorry." She said grumpily before exciting, grumbling along the way.

"Wait," Soul called after her, "I don't even know your name." She stopped in the doorway before coming back towards him.

"Uh," she stopped and gestures towards him. her fingers were long and looked smooth. Soul wanted to take her hand and just walk around a park or something with her hand, he mentally slapped himself for that.

"Soul Ev- Eater." He smirked at her.

"Oh well," she slammed a book on his head, "shut up, Soul Eater." The pig tailed girl brushed off her book before swaying her hips in the opposite direction.

"Tease." He rubbed his head.

Maka walked into the 'meet and greet.' She was so excited to get a partner, that was her goal this year. When Maka first came to the DWMA no one wanted to be her partner. She was a scythe and not a lot of people could wield scythes. The blonde waltzed around the hall until she decided to sit down and relax. She'd been walking for hours. Maka picked up her book and skimmed the pages. She'd been reading this book for only a day and she was already almost done. Then again, she's read this book three times before. She engulfed herself in the book until a hand slipped it's way on the book and pulled up. The 'thief' started to run to the exit. All she could see before the thief left was some puffy white hair...shit.

Maka walked through the halls, pissed. She had had enough of that boy. What was his name, Stewart? She headed towards the public library to get a new book. That ass. As she walked down the stairs of DWMA she thought she saw something walk into an alleyway. Maka walked down the street where she thought she saw a small cat. When she entered the alleyway where she saw the creature, it was empty. Maka shrugged it off but she swore she saw some animal walk over here. Now, Maka's no scientist but she's pretty sure animals can't disappear. Maka placed her hands in her jeans and started her long way to her dad's house. Forget the book, Maka was tired and exhausted from today. She still had no luck finding a partner. Her main goal was to become the new Death Scythe and be stronger than her Papa. The weapon made a right at a crosswalk. She still had almost a mile left before she reached her Papa's house. Maka sighed aloud before hearing loud footsteps. Thinking it was some guy late for a meeting or something she didn't think to much about it. The footsteps got louder and louder. Maka's ears twitched as her brain began to function that those footsteps weren't business boots, they weren't boots at all, they were heels. Maka turned to see a girl with purple hair and big hat running towards her. Before she knew it, Maka was on the ground being pinned down by some witch lady. The witch had a skimpy outfit on with golden iris's that bored into jade's.

"Are you Maka?"

"What's it to you?" Maka spat at the weird stranger. The girl shrugged before taking out a rope. "What are you doing?" Maka asked as the strange girl who started to tie Maka's wrists. "Stop!" She screamed.

Soul heard the scream. Soultthought everyone a mile away could but the people were so caught up in their own damn business they wouldn't have noticed. The miester had been making his way home on his motorbike, which was pretty cool, when he heard it. Usually he wouldn't care but the scream was close and as a DWMA student he had to protect blah, blah, blah. He stopped in front of an alley. His soul perception told him there was a weapon and a...witch! Soul ran down the alley as fast as he could. A weapon can't defend themselves without a miester. To think of it, why was there only a weapon? Was the miester already killed? But the weapon, if the miesters dead, would they still stay there? No, the weapon should be smart and know they can't defend themselves-

Soul stood mouth agape at the scene in front of him. There she was, a rope in hand tied around a girl with purple hair, which guessing by the way she's dressed is a witch.

"Oh, hey, Stewart."

"Soul." He grumbled.

"Right." She shifted a little. Her arm was rested along the grove of her hip.

"How did you-? When did you-? Is she the-?"

"Oh, um, this?" She holds up the rope. "This stranger attacked me and tried to tie me up."

"She's a witch." Soul said expressionless. The girl's grip tightens at this but still stands there. "What are you going to do with her?"

"I'm not sure. Her soul isn't any use to me until I've collected all 99 Kishin souls, so...I'm not sure." She says, her bangs covering her eyes in embarrassment. She hasn't collected even one.

"Don't you and your miester collect souls?"

"Oh, I don't have a miester." Maka looks down again. Soul didn't know why but he felt hope in his stomach. As the pair chatted, they were completely oblivious to the witch snapping the ropes and leaping up as a pumpkin appeared.

"You two are adorable!" She exclaimed. "To bad I have to kill you now." She waved her hand, creating a pumpkin, and shooting it at the two. Maka, being a weapon, pushed the miester away as she dodged too. The pair stood up simultaneously.

"You wanna try it?" He asked her. Understanding what he meant she nodded and started to glow. She threw herself up, transforming into a beautiful green and black blade. The green was as green as her eyes and the black made zig zags down the front. Soul caught her with ease and swung the weapon around. Soul caught a glance of the weapon in the reflection. She had her hair down and her eyes were as green as the blade so it was hard to see them. "Ready?" He questioned.

"Yep." Maka was surprised their wavelengths were in sync. They had only just met and they were already working together like partners. Soul swung Maka around then charged at the witches pumpkin. The witch yawned and dodged easily but Soul was fast. He turned around and swung at her pumpkin. It split in haft causing pumpkin juice to go everywhere. The witch landed on her feet and pulled down her hat. The pointed tip started to move and lunged towards Soul. He dodged just in time to leap on top of a nearby dumpster. Soul jumped off and raised his scythe. The scythe ran across the witches body causing the witch to explode and leave a purple soul.

"That was surprisingly easy." Shrugged Soul. Maka jumped out of his hands and landed on her feet.

"Should I eat it?"

"I wouldn't. I'd save it." Soul shrugged again. Maka smiled at him before reaching for the soul and placing it in her bag. She shoved her hand out towards the boy.

"I'm Maka Albarn. Weapon: Scythe." Soul smirked to himself. He placed his hand in hers.

"Soul Eater Evans. Miester." She smiled which caused Soul to have a weird feeling in his stomach.

"Partners?"

"Partners."

Death Scythe scolded at the mirror currently playing his little girl and that octopus head becoming partners.

"Everything worked out." Exclaimed Death. As the pair walked out of view a small cat emerged from the doorway. The cat, in a puff of smoke, transformed into a human.

"Your welcome nya~" Blair said. She swished her purple hair to the side and smiled. "You owe me a life though, soul protect is hard you know?"

"Soul?"

"Hmm?" He hummed. It's been a month since the pair got together, they even have their own apartment now. Maka had been cleaning up and putting her stuff away when she stumbled upon a book, the one Soul had stolen.

"Why did you even steal this?" She snorted. Soul turned away from her as he shifted on the couch. Maka stopped and walked over to him. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No it's not that, it's just..." He trailed off, still not looking at her. "After you left I asked some people about you because you never told me your name." Maka nodded, intrigued, "Well someone told me about you, I think his name was Black*Star, said he'd known you since you were kids. Well he said that you've been on your own for a while and can kick ass. He told me about you and all your adventures and to be honest," he turned to her, "I was nervous to talk to you again."

Maka stared at him with wide eyes. "That's silly. But ironic." She turned away from him. "When we met again, you were so brave, I was a little nervous too." She admitted. Soul and Maka both looked at each other and smiled.

The partners never found out the plan to get them together until they ran into Blair again.
