Soul bared his teeth against the muscular hand that stopped his actions. Another student laughed obnoxiously against the other hand that gripped his face.
Sid, a DWMA teacher, had stopped the brawl that occurred earlier that day between, none other, Soul and Black*Star. The two friends had been merely chatting amongst themselves when the other had insulted the other. Their senses got the better of them and the lounged for each other, knocking over people in the halls. Their fist fight ended outside when Sid came in between them and stuck his hands against the boy's faces. That didn't stop the two at trying to hit the other. They were acting like children. Soon, word had gotten to the library which held a blonde haired bookworm curled up on a couch. When the words traced themselves in her mind she forgot everything and rampaged outside.
Maka walked out the doors of DWMA and took sight of Sid clutching her partners face with his hand. Soul continued to fight against the force that stopped him.
"Soul! What are-" Maka was cut off when Soul pulled back his fist for a blow to knock Star's socks off. Soul had ended up hitting Maka in the face. The girl fell to the ground, clutching her nose while small read drops slipped past her fingers, staining her uniform. This went unnoticed by the idiotic boys who continued to hit air. Sid was the one to notice.
"That's enough you two." He pushed the boys in opposite directions, letting them fall against the concrete. Soul rubbed his bottom side when he landed while Black*Star clutched his head from hitting the concrete. If it wasn't for Maka's whine Soul probably wouldn't have noticed her presence.
"Maka?" The demon scythe caught sight of her bleeding nose. "What happened? Who did this to you?" Soul clenched his teeth together and cursed slightly. Maka sent him a hurt but also angry expression. Her eyes were brimmed with tears while her eyebrows furrowed into a scowl. Soul was confused at first, what had happened?
"Monkey," Sid pointed to Black*Star who looked like he was going to punch Sid. "you've got detention tonight for starting a fight without a teacher present." Sid then turned his attention to the scythe trying to scoot closer to his miester. "And you," He pointed his finger towards the boy. Soul looked like he was just caught escaping jail. "you have detention tonight for starting the fight as well. You will also have detention tomorrow night." Soul gave a 'why?' look at Sid.
"For hitting a girl." Sid grumbled before walking back to his duties at DWMA.
For hitting a girl? Soul was puzzled by this, he didn't hit-Soul snapped his head towards Maka who hid her face with her bangs. The golden tears fell down her face, mixing with the blood. He couldn't have. Soul would never hurt Maka.
"Maka?" She turned her head away from her partner. "Maka, I-I didn't hit you, did I?" The angel refused to look at him. That was his answer. Soul doesn't remember hitting Maka, then again, he does remember hitting something when he went to punch Star, but he had assumed it was Sid's shoulder.
"Oh, Death-Maka I'm so sorry, i-it was an accident." He fumbled with words. Maka continued to look at the chipped ground, she wasn't really mad about him hitting her. What bothered Maka the most is why he didn't consult her about the fight. They told each other everything and solved every problem together. Sure she was mad he hit her and she was bleeding but that didn't really matter to Maka. She was a miester, she got hurt all the time.
Maka rose slowly, letting the blood drip from her nose not bothering to cover it. She let her sandy blonde locks cover her eyes so Soul couldn't see her tears. She let Soul trail her down the steps not caring what he said. Soul was upset about what he did. By the time they had reached the end of the steps he had promised almost everything he could think of; clean his room, do his homework, clean the apartment, make dinner, and not annoy her for an hour or two.
Maka stopped suddenly and turned to her weapon. She lifted her head letting tears fly around the frame of her face. Soul was taken aback; he made her cry that much? "Why didn't you come and tell me?" Her words laced with distrust. God, her soul was going crazy; angry, sadness, distrust, a broken feeling; everything bad swirled in her soul. "We're partners, aren't we?" She rubbed her eyes with her sleeve, letting the sparkling tears leave her face.
"Maka, that's not what happened..." He wrapped his arms around his petite miester, letting her cry into his shirt. The partners stood for a minute in silence before Maka picked up her head and wiped her eyes.
"Why?" It slipped past her lips so fast and quiet Soul almost has to ask what she said.
"Black*Star, uh, called you a weak miester...I couldn't let him say that about you." Soul's cheeks shaded red and looked ahead of Maka, not meeting her gaze.
"Baka. That's stupid...but thank you." Maka rested her head against his chest again and sniffled like a kitten. She really was adorable.
"Can I make it up to you?" Soul offered. Maka nodded her head against his chest, her hair ruffling out of her pigtails against the soft but rough material. "How about," He took Maka's hand and spun her around, "we go back to the apartment, and eat strawberry ice cream-your favorite." Maka's eyes glittered with excitement and forgot all problems. Her soul wavelength settled to her normal atmosphere. Soul lent Maka his hand; she gladly accepted and hooked her arm through his.
Atop the stair lay a blue assassin who sulked in his own despair. Black*Star pulled out his phone, scrolling through his contacts. He found his angel's contact and tapped on the call button. He let the phone ring a few times before his beloved weapon spoke.
"Tsubaki?" The assassin blubbered.
"Black*Star?" Her voice was soft and threaded with worry. "What's wrong?"
"I-I got into a fight."
"You what?!" Her voice turned form angelic to a menacing voice that could shatter anyone's ear. "Black*Star, what have I told you about getting into fights." Black*Star sighed into the receiver.
"Can you pick me up?" Black*Star pleaded. "A god shouldn't have to walk when he's injured."
"Black*Star I'm at work, I'm at Death bucks. Can I pick you up in a hour?" There was a low whine that emerged from the other side of the receiver. Tsubaki cringed and gave in to her partner. "I'll be there in a few."

Soul watched as Maka emerged from the bathroom, towel over her wet hair and dressed in a casual t-shirt and shorts. Oh god, the shorts. The shorts that rode up her legs and showed a little too much, not that Soul complained too much.
"You ready?" Soul leaned forward and jabbed his finger on the radio button. The sound that came from the box was soothing and always relaxed Maka. Maka dreamily stepped towards her partner as he handed her a china bowl full of pink ice cream sprinkled with chocolate chips. She plopped herself on the couch next to Soul who contemplated his miester. She dug her spoon in the small glass and brought the small spoon to her mouth. She let the cold metal touch her lips then gulped down the shivery dessert. Maka's body shivered slightly that caused Soul to smirk.
As the pair ate in silence, enjoying each other's company the song shifted to an upbeat tune.
I'm falling down into my shadow
Holding in my every breath as I await the deadly night
So scary, but you can't give into this
Fear of pumpkin carriages 'cause all the witches see it in your eyes
"Oh, I love this song." Maka mumbled mouth full of ice cream. Her eyes sparkled with glee and hummed along to the song. Soul glanced at Maka who bobbed her head to the beat. Soul smirked to himself and set down his bowl. The bowl hit the coffee table with a clatter that grabbed Maka's attention. Soul held a hand to Maka.
See you in your dreams Yeah, baby
Your nightmares, too, that's where I'll find you
Maka set her china bowl on the coffee table and set her hand in Soul's. He spun her around like earlier and hugged her close. The two rocked back and forth like they had the time Maka went insane and they had a meeting in Soul's head. Soul skidded around the living room trying not to knock anything over. Soul cantillated his favorite part in the song in Maka's ear.
"Fairy Blue
It is only for you that I would crush the stars
And display them with the Black Paper Moon
If you really put your faith in me
When you're lost here, I am
Forever with your soul
Waiting here above you patiently, just like the shining moon." Maka shivered at is husky voice singing the song she loved when she was little. Maka's mother would always sing this song as a lullaby for Maka to go to sleep. It had always worked and Maka loved her mother's voice. Maka sighed and let her eyes drop a little. Her surroundings were comforting and she was no longer cold in Soul's embrace.
"Soul, I'm getting-" She leaned against Soul's shoulder sucking in small breathes.
"Tired, are we?" Maka nodded against his shoulder. Soul rolled his eyes at his wee partner who let Soul carry her to her room. She really got knocked out when she hit her bed. Soul had set her down and her comforter and her eyes fluttered shut leaving a silent apartment.
Soul admired his miester's features. Her seashell lips parted slightly letting out small breathes. Maka's hair swayed against her face as her curls tumbled along her shoulders. Soul leaned against Maka's bed, enjoying the sight of a peaceful Maka.
"A symbol rises to the surface
Of the crimson jam that I had submerged it deep within
Your destiny isn't so immutable, anything that you can dream
Can also be the fate that you will have." Soul sang aloud to the girl. The song had never finished, they left before it ended. Maka's lips parted more as words flowed through her mouth.
"Don't try to use deceit on me
I will not break, I won't surrender." Soul had never heard Maka sing, occacionaly a preview when she was in the shower but never like this. Her voice seeped past her lips and embedded into Soul's head. Maka's eyes were now open and glimmered with content. Soul leaned forward smiling a real smile, he let their foreheads connect.
" Fairy Blue
You are my everything, the reason I go on in this captivity eternally
If you raise your voice and call for me, I will find you, my dear
Wherever you may be
And I will be sure to set you free from this entangling curse." Soul sang to Maka who stared at him with wonder. And the truth was, every word Soul sang, he was singing to Maka from his soul. Every word was true that passed his lips.
"There are times when no one believes in me and
There are times where I feel like I'm degraded But even in those times, your words always echo within my heart
This is my promise." Maka sang, her lips slightly brushing Soul's.
"Fairy Blue
It is only for you that I would smash the stars
And use them as a sign to guide you
And anytime that you're lost or afraid, Can you see your dreams
I want you to look up and..."Soul started off the last lines.
"Fairy Blue
You are my everything, the reason that I live in sweet captivity so faithfully
And I swear you'll never be alone When you're lost here I am
Forever with your soul.
We can make it through most anything, if you can just believe." Soul and Maka sang together, their voices moving rhythmically together. Soul had never believed their voices could fit together so well. Then, Maka pulled back, her eyes wide.
"What's wrong?" Soul asked, eyes giving off a hurt emotion. She looked at him with a 'are you serious?' look.
"Did you feel that?" Her voice was high and she squeaked at some words. Soul then realized they were resonating when they sang, but it was powerful. The most power either of them had ever felt, Soul didn't think Stein's resonance could compare. They looked at each other for a long time, figuring out the others move.
"Soul, I want you to-to..." Soul nodded understanding what she meant. He leaned his head down so his white locks brushed her forehead. Electricity flew when their lips touched, sending a powerful shock to their souls, but they didn't pull back. Maka cupped Soul's face while his hands captured either side of her face, blocking exits. It was a little awkward considered Maka was laying down but they didn't seem to mind. Soul pulled back a little after the resonance died down.
"You're my Fairy Blue, Maka." She giggled at his pet name he gave her. "I love you, Maka."
"I love you, Soul."
