When Interrogating a Cube

CONTEXT!!!

It was 2015. I was a young cube. 15 years old. TGGBB had received the 2015 Wattys Talk of the Town Award. Kelly Anne Blount reached out to me for her Winter Edition Block Party where a bunch of authors created exclusives and giveaways. However, there was some copyright stuff and you can't find it in that book anymore.

Then a few days ago, I, the bored person that I am, managed to find this old document. Seeing that no one has seen it past probably 2016 or 2017, I figured I'll post it up again for all to see!

However, some context needs to be given to clear things up because when you read this, it might be pretty confusing. In 2015, I finished TGGBB and was on a break focusing on SATs and high school. I had not yet written TGGBB2 yet and was still trying to figure out my plans of a TGGBB edit and a TGGBB rewrite that we all know is now "Broken Glasses" (which you should totally read because things are getting spicy and you have new content for your favorite characters and ships).

So those are the things you need to know. I wrote this in 2015, I was 15 and the characters at the time were 17 so they were older than me. I haven't written TGGBB2 yet as well as the rewrite.

Have fun everyone!

The name's RubixCube89201, but you can call be Rubix. Unless you want to call me 89201, then I'm cool with that too.

I'm best known as the author of this book called TGGBB or "The Good Girl's Bad Boys: The Good, The Bad, and The Bullied". A bit of a read in the title itself, I know, but hey, I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I first wrote the story for fun. I'm apparently about to undergo an interrogation with probably a lot of screaming, crying, and torture - hopefully tickle torture- as someone tries to force a confession out of me. Not much like they'll get anything out of me. I'm as unsolvable as a Rubik's Cube- without the cheats. I don't even know what I did to get here in the first place. I mean, well, I can think of a number of things, but they couldn't possibly know that... But I mean really, what will they get me for? Solving a Rubik's Cube? I just want to get this over with before they do something traumatizing to-

(Door slams open, making Rubix jump in her seat.)

(Jordan slams a full file onto the table, having all of the papers fly out. He stares at the mess and decides to ignore it.)

Jordan: Do you know why you're here?

Rubix: No... Do you know why I'm here?

(Jordan pauses. Opens his mouth to say something then closes it. Instead, he picks up a piece of paper and begins to read it)

Jordan: (Reads) Rubix. RubixCube89201.

Rubix: Present.

Jordan: (Eyes her) Why the name?

Rubix: Why the hostility?

Jordan: I asked you a question.

Rubix: (Slumps in the chair) It's a nickname I picked up at middle school, a pun with my name. Along with a code I made when I was little.

Jordan: (Continues to read) You're 15, born March 1st.

Rubix: Turning 16 a month from now- Or well, in a few days depending on when Kelly will schedule my post.

Jordan: You started Wattpad... four years ago. December 28, 2012.

Rubix: Apparently.

Jordan: You-

Rubix: Let's stop before we go into any more personal details I don't want the internet to know about-

Jordan: (Slams hand on the table) You can't handle the truth!

Rubix: (Blinks) What?

Jordan: (Smiles sheepishly) Sorry. I wanted to say that from the very beginning. But you haven't given me an opportunity to say it.

Rubix: (Sighs) You're the last person I want to be interrogating me.

Jordan: Well, why did you choose me?

Rubix: Don't break the fourth wall.

Jordan: Don't tell me what to do, young lady.

.

Rubix: (Repeats incredulously) Young lady? Just because you're older than me doesn't mean you can call me young lady.

Jordan: (Ignores her and continues) I don't do the whole good cop, bad cop. I go bad cop to worse cop. Capisce?

Rubix: You got that from a movie. Why are you-

Jordan: Capisce?

Rubix: Gesundheit.

Jordan: (Lets out a groan in frustration) You're not giving me anything.

Rubix: There's nothing to give. (Shows handcuffed wrists) Especially since I can't give you anything physically.

Jordan: (Gets up from his chair and begins to pace) Why did you do it?

Rubix: Do what?

Jordan: You seemed to fake your death after finishing the book. After you finished TGGBB, you said you were taking a break and just vanished off the face of the Earth.

Rubix: (Huffs) But I posted a few things here and there...

Jordan: But nothing. Why did you do it?

Rubix: (Pauses for a moment) Is that why I'm here?

Jordan: You ask me.

Rubix: (Takes a moment) I really did need a break. Two years writing that book... I didn't know what I was getting myself into. All that time and energy, I have no idea how I was able to handle all of that, now that I'm looking back on it. I thought I deserved that break... Didn't I?

Jordan: (His face softens) Yeah, of course.

Rubix: They don't seem to get it though. I know a year-

Jordan: (Coughs) More than a year.

Rubix: (Shoots a glare then continues) Sounds a lot to my readers, but it's actually not a lot for me.

Jordan: What are you even doing in this... break of yours?

Rubix: Surprisingly enough, I have a life. It must be astonishing to hear that I don't spend every single waking moment of my life writing. Not that I don't want to, but I can't. I've been focusing a lot more on school, my future. As much as I want to believe writing will take care of it for me, I can't take the chance of risking it. But I've been working on both the sequel and the new version of TGGBB.

Jordan: Why are you doing that? Writing a new version of TGGBB? Isn't the original already good enough?

Rubix: But that's the thing. It isn't good enough. I started writing TGGBB three years ago. Just from the very title, you can tell I wasn't going to take the book seriously. But when I realize how big it was becoming, I wasn't thinking. I just wrote and wrote, trying to keep up with the constant demands of updates. I wasn't thinking of the plot, the characters, anything than I could have been if I actually planned out the story.

Jordan: (Stays quiet)

Rubix: Now that I'm done, I can look back at the story. I'm looking into the comments, reading the positive and negative, the helpful especially. I'm rewriting the story to take out the many grammar mistakes, the plot holes, the undeveloped characters (Coughs, looks at Jordan), and-

Jordan: Whoa, whoa, whoa. What was that cough?

Rubix: What are you talking about?

Jordan: You coughed and looked at me.

Rubix: I have a cold.

Jordan: No... I'm undeveloped.

Rubix: You're a late bloomer?

Jordan: What? No! You just admit that I'm an undeveloped character.

Rubix: Don't act conceited, everyone is. I need to work on all of the characters. I barely unlocked who you guys truly are. Do you know how much research I had to do on your cerebral achromatopsia (Still can't write the word correctly) alone? I have a folder specifically about it.

Jordan: (Has a long pause) Well I can't say I was being conceited but-

Rubix: Is that really all that you took from- Nevermind. And I have more stuff to work on. I don't know how any of my readers are able to look past that, but I am thankful that they do because they see past the undeveloped writing and into the story instead. Creating a better story from the original is a way of thanks and to give them the story they truly deserve.

Jordan: So you're doing this, for your readers?

Rubix: And myself. If I'm only doing it for the readers, I'm no better than a servant waiting for that order. I started writing for myself. Although I'm happy some people actually stopped to hear my voice, the first person who needs to hear it is myself.

(There's a knock on the glass window)

Voice in intercom: Your time's up Jordan.

Jordan: (Whines) Already? But I don't want to go. It's getting good.

Voice in intercom: You have to let the others talk. There's more she can give us.

Jordan: Then send them in. Besides (Leans back at chair) I was just getting comfortable.

Voice in intercom: (Sighs) Alright fine.

(Door opens and closes.)

Declan: He didn't do that bad cop-worse cop thing, did he?

Jordan: (Glares at him) You weren't listening?

Declan: I was getting a donut. It's amazing how many donuts this police station has. They're not really helping that stereotypical image of theirs though...

Rubix: (Smiles brightly) Hey Declan. How's your mom?

Declan: She's fine, tha-

Jordan: Why are you nicer to him than you were to me at the beginning of this?

Rubix: Because he wasn't being a bad cop.

Jordan: To worse cop.

Rubix: To rude cop.

Jordan: Touche.

Rubix: Declan, what are you going to ask me now?

Declan: (Opens file and reads) They want me to ask how the book is going. So... How is your book going?

Rubix: (Scratches head, although it was an awkward position with the handcuffs) It's... a slow process honestly.

Declan: How come?

Rubix: I'm balancing a lot of things on my plate.

Jordan: Speaking of plates... I'm going to get me some donuts (Gets up to walk out of the interrogation room.)

Declan: Now that he's out of the way... You were saying?

Rubix: Well, you know, school, friends, family, writing, and other personal matters... I'm surprised I haven't broken down by the sheer amount of stress. (Lets out a forced chuckle) This is a pretty depressing atmosphere, huh?

Declan: (Waves it off) That's all interrogations. That's why we have Jordan here for comic relief. Although you purposely kicked him off the room so you can have a more intimate conversation with just me.

Rubix: I really need to consider toning down these fourth-wall breaks...

Declan: Going back to the writing, to your break really, is it that hard to write a book?

Rubix: (Lets out an irritated sigh and snaps) Yes, it is hard to write a book.

Declan: (Frowns) No need to be like that.

Rubix: (Sighs) I'm sorry. I'm tired of hearing that. I don't know how people imagine authors to write their books. But from the many messages and comments they make, they think it's easy. Although many tell me they understand, just as many just don't get it. 'Can you work on TGGBB2 already?', 'What's taking so long?', 'Just gives us the sequel already'. People tell me to ignore it, but I can't, because they're acting so demanding and-

Declan: You don't have to write the book, you know.

Rubix: (Blinks) What?

Declan: If they're being like that, you don't have to write it on Wattpad. You can write the sequel, but just keep it for yourself.

Rubix: What are you-

Declan: You don't owe them anything. They don't sound like they deserve it from the pressure they're giving to a young girl feeling like she's taking on the weight of the world.

Rubix: First off, you guys need to stop calling me a young girl. From when I created the book, you guys are three years old and- You know what, we're not going there. And just what are you saying? I can't do something like that!

Declan: Why not?

Rubix: I-I... Why are you saying this?

Declan: Just reading what they told me to say in the paper. (Puts a piece of paper back into the file) Just to see your reaction.

Rubix: (Glares) Are you happy?

Declan: I'm not in the position to say, I'm only taking orders. Now, onto something else. There has been some debate over the name of my sister. Do you-

Jordan: (Storms into the room) I got donuts!

Declan: Nevermind, we can talk about that another time. (Begins to take some donuts for himself)

Rubix: (Tries to take one but remembers her hands are handcuffed) Can I have one?

Jordan: Only once you're innocent and free of custody.

Rubix: That's unfair!

Voice in intercom: Sadly life is unfair, all of us here know that.

Rubix: Who's coming in here now?

Voice in intercom: No one until these two get out.

Jordan: B-but there's donuts.

Voice in intercom: The interrogation is getting complex, we need one person at a time. At least for now.

Declan: (Looks at Jordan) We gotta listen to the boss.

Jordan: Fine... but we're taking this. (Grabs plate of donuts)

Rubix: (Cries out) This is cruel and unusual punishment! This is against my rights!

Jordan: There's supposed to be torture right?

Rubix: (Hangs head) But still...

(The two walk out and close the door, only for the door to open again and someone to walk in. The person takes a seat and opens up the file just as Rubix raises her head)

Bennett: Look at the mess they made... (Rubix glances at the papers around the room and donut crumbs and sprinkles on the table. He uses a paper to sweep the food to the side of the table.)

Rubix: ...

Bennett: You're thinking that I'm the last person you want to interrogate you.

Rubix: ...

Bennett: But the question is... Are you happy with how I turned out?

Rubix: ...

Bennett: You made the book when you were barely starting Wattpad, barely starting to write. I know you don't like to think of us as your children, because it's well, weird, but there's a point when an author and their characters become close enough to be considered friends.

Rubix: Still makes it sound pretty sad.

Bennett: Depending on how one sees it. Some readers think they're in love with us (Coughs slightly) the Three Musketeers despite, you know.

Rubix: Don't break their hearts. It's the fatal tragedy all bookworms face.

Bennett: Yes... But back to what I was saying. Seeing as you want to rewrite the book... Are you happy with how we turned out? As characters? As people?

Rubix: I am happy. Watching how your characters develop is like how parents feel when watching their kids grow up- Still not thinking as you guys as my children, though.

Bennett: Did you know who we were from the start?

Rubix: No, I didn't. When I first started writing, you were merely names I came up with. But the more I wrote, the more I understood you. If I saw you as actual people, you will be thought of as actual people.

Bennett: Not meaning to break the fourth wall but... see us as actual people?

Rubix: Sad with the reality?

Bennett: I'm leaning towards nauseous instead.

Rubix: People wish you were real. Do you know how many comments I get asking where readers can buy a Jordan?

(Knock on window followed by a muted yell at the other side of the one-way mirror)

Jordan: Sorry ladies but this... (For some reason, there was a strange feeling of knowing he was motioning to himself) is one of a kind.

(Rubix and Bennett rolled their eyes on that)

Rubix: Then there are people who wish the book is a movie? Can you believe that? A movie?

Bennett: Do you want a movie?

Rubix: (Lets out a laugh) Actually, no. I find that movies ruin the book and that the movie will cut off a lot of stuff from the book. Though, I tend to write the book in the form of a sitcom, each chapter an episode.

Bennett: Yeah, maybe a television series can work.

Rubix: (Scoffs) Don't be ridiculous.

Bennett: Hey, you said it.

Rubix: It's not like the book we'll actually go that far...

Bennett: But readers want it. There have been many who suggest you publish the book.

Rubix: ...

Bennett: But you're scared.

Rubix: ...

Bennett: You fear the world, you fear society.

Rubix: ...

Bennett: You're scared of the attacks that will be on the book.

Rubix: ...

Bennett: You know that you can't protect TGGBB once it's out there on paper.

Rubix: ...

Bennett: You're scared the bullying will come back another way.

Rubix: ...

Bennett: Why will you be scared of something like that?

Rubix: I'm not saying that I'm afraid of the critics. I don't mind if they come. They are an obstacle all writers need to face because you need someone to make you see something you refuse to acknowledge, even if it sometimes hurts. But it's not the critics.

Bennett: Then what is it?

Rubix: It's just... The book is special to me. And seeing how I know how bullying goes, all too well, I don't want to see another thing attacked. People will belittle the book, judging a book by its cover, and my hard work will be lost in the sea of words of the people it was trying to fight against. I don't want to be a bystander of my own book, because now I'm able to control what happens. I rather keep it like this, have the readers find the book instead of sending it out there, to the real world.

Bennett: That's selfish and childish thinking.

Rubix: Is it? We both know what bullying is like. Imagine this whole website filled with aspiring writers daring to put up their works and face what comes next. That's brave. Out there in the real world. You don't know what will happen. How they'll react. They'll do what I expect them to do. Judge a book by its cover.

Rubix: (Says quietly) They'll judge, they'll criticize, they'll destroy. Like to everyone they can do. What's the point of writing or publishing this book if it'll be destroyed by the same people it's going against? What's the point? Maybe I shouldn't...

(Bennett gets up and opens the door.)

Bennett: She broke... I don't think... I didn't mean to... Talk to her lawyer? But- Okay fine.

(Bennett goes out and another person comes in to take a seat)

Rubix: You're the last person I want to see right now.

Rubix: You must be proud of seeing me like this.

Rubix: Where's my donut?

Naomi: Bennett was pretty harsh, huh?

Rubix: ...

Naomi: He feels bad, but we asked him to do it.

Rubix: ...

Naomi: You wrote this as a reflection and for readers to know what's going on in that head of yours.

Rubix: ...

Naomi: But you're sad how it turned out. You're thinking that they'll be disappointed with how sad this atmosphere is.

Rubix: ...

Naomi: You're thinking that you'll erase this whole interview and write something more cheery and funny instead, like you always do, like how your readers expect you to.

Rubix: ...

Naomi: But that's not how you do things. You do what your readers don't expect. Remember the purpose of this post, an interrogation against a cube. Interrogations go deep and personal.

Naomi: You keep forgetting how many people actually enjoy the book. You still can't comprehend the numbers, you still can't accept people have read what you made, in their own free will. You don't realize how many lives have been changed, how many laughs created, how many eyes watered, how many curses censored, how many ships sailed, how many ships sank, how many screams uttered- In which you're thinking I'm over exaggerating, but the comments say otherwise. However, you're still tied down to that insecurity the people who bullied you created out of you, and you're using it to hold down your potential.

Rubix: That's what bullying does, it holds people back from their potential, from who they are and what they will be. And I hate it. Every story my readers sent me of their experience against bullying is like a survival story, or in some cases, a still-surviving story. Reading about bullying, writing about it, you tend to just lose your faith in humanity. There are times when I laugh at my attempt of trying to fix this world-

Naomi: But you are. Whether you make someone's day or change their view in life, you're doing something.

Rubix: But is it enough?

Naomi: You're overthinking it. You don't realize what you're doing now. You're doing something, in your own way, and that's what matters.

Rubix: When I said the reason I started writing was for myself, it wasn't true. The reason I started writing was to make people laugh. Such a small and simple goal. The joy of making someone laugh whether it's from a corny pun or being myself, and seeing the smile on their faces, was for me. In Wattpad, reading the comments, I'm able to read that I was able to do this to my readers, to random strangers. But... with TGGBB, I felt like I was drifting to uncharted territory, to the harsh world I want people to ignore because they could be laughing and be happy instead of taken away by things like... bullying did to me.

Naomi: But if it didn't happen, if you were never bullied... You wouldn't be here right now. Just like if I was never bullied, I would have never met the guys.

Rubix: So is it to say, it's a good thing to be bullied?

Naomi: Depends on how you see it and where you're standing right now. Of course, it isn't when you are bullied at the moment. But once you survive it and are able to look back to it, you see the world clearer, though you won't like what you see, and you become a better person than those people who did that to you. And in doing so, you're able to do your part, making it clear to your readers and other random people reading this post-

Rubix: Naomi, we talked about this. We need to work on those fourth wall-

Naomi: What I mean to say is, showing people bullying in your crazy and hilarious writing, helps. Laughter makes the world go round, bullying stops it. Make the world spin a little bit faster.

Rubix: (Exasperated) But I'm just... I'm just a cube.

Naomi: Yes you are.

Rubix: ...

Naomi: Your lawyer is out there to see you, making a ruckus. The guys are trying to calm her down.

Rubix: That's it? I'm free?

Naomi: You've always been.

Rubix: Can I have a donut then?

Naomi: (Laughs and moves to uncuff her) Of course. Should I bring one of the guys in?

Rubix: Bring all of them in.

(Naomi gets up and goes to the door and calls for the guys, which they come in moments later.)

Jordan: Geez, your lawyer's scary.

Declan: She started to go all out.

Bennett: We don't even have a warrant of your arrest.

Naomi: (Cringes) Let's hope she doesn't find that out until we're very far away.

Rubix: You don't even have a- You know what, nevermind.

Declan: Why did you gather us here?

Rubix: (Clears throat and then begins dramatically) We're all gathered here today for the union of-

Naomi: Declan and Jordan? I knew it! I totally called it! Bennett where's my-

Jeclan: You are?! Rubix, stop putting Jeclan! It's not funny!

Rubix: (Laughs) Naomi, it was just a joke. And dammit Bennett, put those hundred bills away. It's dangerous for you to casually carry that much money.

Bennett: It is?

Rubix: (Mutters) These damn rich people...

Rubix: Ignoring that... Where are my donuts?

Declan: (Hands her a plate of donuts) Here you go.

Jordan: Since when were you holding that?

Rubix: (Waves off) Author powers.

Bennett: The subject of donuts was in most of the interview.

Rubix: I was hungry when writing this.

Declan: What's with you and donuts?

Rubix: Well I used to sell donuts in my freshman year, as I was sponsored by a senior who bought boxes of donuts daily and sent boxes away to her underlings, which included me. I got about two dozen donuts and sold it by the end of the day for me to get my share of the cut.

Naomi: I wish we have a donut business in our school. What about flavors?

Rubix: I always loved glazed donuts, a favorite of Jordan. I really love strawberry jelly donuts, and whether it's powdered or glazed, I don't mind, just like Declan. And I always thought chocolate donuts were the worst. (Bennett frowns but doesn't say anything) But I gave it a chance and I love chocolate donuts. (Then goes to take the whole plate of donuts) Like Naomi, I don't mind any of the three.

Bennett: So why did you gather us here today, besides... (Looks at Jeclan)

Jordan: Who even started this in the first place?

(Note: Actually, a reader suggested it, but I can't remember if I created the ship name or some reader did)

Declan: I'm going to kill them! Well, not really. But I emphasize the fact that I am very mad.

Rubix: I just wanted to add some FAQ's and news/updates here that I wasn't unable to add in the interview back there. You can take turns reading that paper.

Jordan: (Looks down at the paper in his hand) How long did I have this? How did I even get this?

Rubix: (Waves off) Author powers.

Jordan: Let's see... (Reads) Can you explain more about this new version of TGGBB? Lots of readers are questioning it, and are arguing that you shouldn't change anything.

Rubix: I'm happy lots of people like the original version, but they don't realize that the book is still in its first draft. I wrote the book when I first started writing, barely even having my writing develop properly. I want to rewrite the book in a new version, with better writing skills I have developed, and what you guys deserve, what I deserve. Besides grammar mistakes, I need to take out plot holes like the once a month dinner (Shudder) and for putting more detail and story development I missed or want to add. Such as, I want to add more scenes or ways to show development in the characters. There are then a few things I want to take out, most importantly Parkomi. Some may be happy and some would be sad, but it's necessary. I began Parkomi just as an experiment of your reactions of what would happen if Rayomi was real, and for a way to cause drama in a rift between Naomi and the guys. However, I got carried away and enjoyed writing romance into the book when I realized it wasn't necessary. In the new version, my author's notes will just be a reflection on why I added or took some things out, just so you guys would understand.

Jordan: (Reads) And about-

Declan: Hey, you already asked a question!

Jordan: It's only a small thing!

Declan: But it's unfair.

Jordan: And about- (Declan moves to take the paper away but Jordan pushes him away, then cranes his neck to read the paper) And about the publisher?

Rubix: My parents are really supportive and my family is telling me to publish my book before anything happens. It's mostly talk, but my mom is on the lookout for any publishers willing to take in a cube in need.

Declan: (Was able to grab the paper) Okay, my turn. (Reads) What about the sequel?

Rubix: As I said, it's a slow process, but I'm working on the plot, character developments, everything. There will be more action, drama, and especially humor. I can't wait to show you guys. Also, don't worry. I won't delete the original version. I honestly want to keep it for sentimental reasons, to show aspiring writers that there's hope how a crappy writer like me started writing with grammar mistakes and plot holes to where I will be in the hopeful future- from writing terrible books to slightly less terrible books.

Declan: (Reads) When-

Jordan: How come you're reading more?

Declan: But you did it too and it's related to the question! Now let me read. (Reads) When will you write the sequel? There have been questions on the Northern and Southern hemispheres and all that.

Rubix: (Chuckles awkwardly) Yeah, sorry about that. I never really knew that there are differences in when summer is in depending on the hemispheres. Anyway, I'm in the Northern hemisphere, if that helps. In the case of when exactly I'll post the sequel, I don't know myself. I'm planning at the end of the summer, about when school is about to start, so August or September-ish.

Declan: (Reads) Since it's taking so long to write the sequel, how will it be published- The whole book ready or in chapters?

Rubix: Like I said, I'm on a break. In the meantime, I'm using this as an advantage to get ahead in chapters. Hopefully, I'll be ahead in a few chapters so I won't feel pressured in updates as I focus on school, which (Cough) I should be. However, updates won't be as weekly as it used to be in the first book, to which I'm sad myself. But I will still do my best to write as fast and efficiently as I can. I will write the same way as I write TGGBB, the first book will be the original, and then I will write a new version of the sequel as a second draft, for then a third to be published.

Bennett: (Plucks paper from Declan's hands) I take it that it's my turn. Let's see... (Reads) What about 4 AM?

Rubix: If you don't know, 4 AM, meaning Four A (A can mean anything from Amazing to Abnormal) Musketeers, was supposed to be a past time to give any impatient TGGBB fans something to read as they wait for the sequel. It would mostly be random scenes, much like one-shots revolving around the characters. However, I stopped because I realized that time I'm working on 4 AM could be the time I'm working on the new version or the sequel. If any of you like the idea, I might consider trying working on it in any real spare time. Just comment if you're interested.

Bennett: How will they comment? We're having a conversation.

Rubix: Yeah, just like that Bennett. Pretend to be ignorant and don't break the fourth wall.

Declan: (Punches the fourth wall and it breaks into a million and one, can't forget the one, pieces) You mean this wall?

Rubix: I don't think you can really call that a wall anymore...

Naomi: How about we go to another question? (Takes paper and reads) What happens after TGGBB?

(Everyone cringes.)

Rubix: I don't want to think about the future now. But... I want you all to know I still have something for TGGBB. Besides that, I do have other books I want to work on, and if you guys really like my writing style, for some reason, I hope you'll still be there to read the library of books in my head.

Naomi: (Reads) Do you have any other plans?

Rubix: Well, someone suggested I write a FAQ or Q&A for TGGBB. There, I and the characters will answer any questions. However, I don't know whether I should write it right now or after the sequel because I want to avoid spoilers until I'm actually free to tell you guys everything- And I mean everything. There are a lot of things readers may have missed about the book. I actually put in hidden messages and meanings and even jokes people may overlook as they expect the book to be any teen fiction.

Naomi: And it isn't?

Rubix: I'm trying to write it as a satire, among other things.

Jordan: What things are you talking about? What hidden messages and meanings?

Rubix: Did you know all of the main characters have the letter "N" in common? Ironically N for Naomi or Nerd? This, I didn't know until I was halfway into the book.

Declan: You can't be- (Stops and thinks about it.) Naomi, JordaN, DeclaN, BeNNett, RaymoNd...

Rubix: After realizing this, I wanted to keep up this little tradition and named characters with an N in their name, though there are some characters who escaped it as I didn't realize the pattern until I already created them such as Harvey Fisher (Starbucks barista) and Abby Baker (mean girl #1).

Bennett: How about another one?

Rubix: Okay, just one or two to really show the readers they are missing a lot of metaphors-

Jordan: It's a metaphor. You put the killing thing right-

Rubix: Don't you dare finish that quote or else readers will have more reason to fall in love with you.

Jordan: But-

Rubix: No.

Jordan: Not-

Rubix: No.

Declan: Can I say it?

Rubix: (Ignores him) Now let's see... There are a lot of symbols, too many to list right here and now, but here's an important one. Naomi is the personification of the bullied. No one can possibly be bullied that much to such an extent. She is just the representation of every bullied person, although even I can't describe how much worse it can be. But showing one person bullied to such an extent shows readers how big bullying is, especially when many have said they never witnessed someone being bullied. She is the manifestation of every bullied person rolled into one and should make decisions and think as a bullied person would in the situation, but at the same time she tries to be a role model of what the bullied should do as well as what they shouldn't do. In the end, it's a person's choice on how they will take in Naomi's actions. This is only a small portion of the character analysis of Naomi I'm working on.

(Everyone looks at Naomi)

Rubix: I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said all of that. I just wanted to start with a major example critical to the-

Naomi: (Clears throat) No, it's okay. What else is there to know?

Rubix: (Thinks for a moment) Did you know the boys each represent a different type of bad boy?

Bennett: (Raises eyebrow) How is this important to the book in any-

Naomi: (Pushes him away) It's important to the readers! Now, how?

Rubix: Bennett is the quiet cool bad boy, a guy of few words and many hearts (mostly lovestruck readers). Declan is the bad boy with a short temper but can be protective of those he finds worth fighting for. Jordan is more of the mischievous prankster side of bad boys who hides behind his jokes to disguise his insecurity. Then Domi-

Naomi: What?

Rubix: Dominic is the classic bad boy who is arrogant and cocky, but readers just can't help but love to hate and hate to love.

(Knock on the door)

Bennett: (Goes over to answer it, opens it, and talks to an officer) Another one brought in?... Repeat that?... Who is in custody?... Did you say Dominic?

Naomi: (Stiffens then says quickly) I'll check it out. (Rushes out the door)

Rubix: (Frowns then calls out) But you'll miss the sneak peek of the new version!

Naomi: (Races back into the room) Forget him! We can wait for him until the sequel! Now did you just say a sneak peek?

Rubix: Although it's not really much, I want the readers to be assured that the new version won't be as bad as it sounds. I'll be adding more scenes, especially on the developments of characters now that I know them better, and more intimate scenes of the guys together as a group. All in all, I want you guys to trust me that I know what I'm doing and that if I'm excited about writing this new version, you should be excited too.

Naomi: And we can see it now?

Rubix: Right now.

Naomi: Then what are we waiting for?

Rubix: You.

Naomi: Me?

Rubix: Yeah, you say the first line.

~ Yes it's completely different from Broken Glasses. Don't @ me ~

"What do you guys want?" I asked them. "Why did you send me that- How did you open my locker?"

"Magic," Jordan answered curtly as he took out the note from my locker, then some of my chemistry notes.

"Just what do you think you're do- Put those notes back!"

Jordan grumbled under his breath but put them where they belong. He then huffed, "Seeing that you hurt our feelings, the least you can do is let me borrow your notes..."

"What are you talking about?"

Jordan held up the note they gave me, showing that it was crumpled up rather than folded as it originally was. He frowned seeing this. "You read it, didn't you?"

I didn't say anything, given they already knew the answer.

"I take that as a yes," Bennett said as he took the note and looked at it for himself. "But why didn't you go?"

"How could I?" I defended myself. "I don't know exactly when you want me to meet up with you, which type of Starbucks, and why I have to. Well, I figured out the why part now, as to beat me up..."

Bennett may have not heard the last part as he turned to the other two and asked, "Why did it have to be a note? And why did you write it like that?"

Declan looked at Jordan who was whistling away, looking at the ground that interested him.

"Well?" Bennett pressed.

"I thought it would be more mysterious," Jordan explained, shuffling his feet. "Like in the movies or something..."

Declan pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why do I know you?"

I exhaled. "And how did you expect me to actually find where to meet up with you guys?"

Bennett let out a sigh. "Why did we do this again?"

"Yeah," I agreed. "Why did you want to waste your time wanting to talk to me?"

"No, I meant the note," Bennett corrected me. "We could have just asked her directly," he said, talking back to them, "like what we're doing right now."

"It's Jordan's fault," Declan muttered.

"To be more mysterious!" Jordan exclaimed in defense.

Bennett turned to me. "I apologize for him-"

"There's nothing to apologize!" Jordan continued in his defense.

He continued. "He told us he's your chemistry partner. Do whatever you can to change partners. Better yet, change classes."

I blinked. "Is he that bad?"

"Well, not really," Bennett said, ignoring Jordan's glares. "It's just if you want to keep your sanity. We lost ours."

"Is this why you wanted to talk to me?"

"No, not just that," Declan said. He looked at the others, and they seemed to have a telepathic conversation with each other until Declan turned back to me. There was a slight pause before he asked, "Would you be able to meet with us sometime afterschool? Any time is okay. Whatever works for you. At Starbucks, if you didn't already know. But it doesn't have to be at a Starbucks. It can be anywhere you want. It can be on the other side of the world if-" He stopped himself and furrowed his eyebrows together, having confused himself.

"Declan, you're stammering," Jordan said.

"I don't stammer," Declan told him. "I'm not good with this... asking someone to go somewhere sometime thing."

"Oh, so you admit, you've never asked anyone out. Figures."

I stared at him. "Are you asking me out?"

"What, of course not!" He exclaimed, making me flinch. "Wait, that came out wrong. I didn't mean to say that harshly. We're not asking you out on a date, since it's the three of us, and that'll be weird. It's just to meet up, as friends, but we're not friends."

There was now a long pause between us. Then he looked at the others. "Can we start all over again? I think I messed this up."

"And you asked why you know me?" Jordan asked with a scoff.

The bell rang, marking the start of first period and my cue to escape.

I slowly began to back away. "That was a lovely chat. It was great talking to you guys. I had a fun time. But I'm going to be late for my first period, so I'm going to go now. So... bye." I quickly turned on my heel to run away.

"Wait," Bennett said, making me halt to a stop. I turned to look at them. "You didn't answer Declan's question if you can even call it one." He was now ignoring Declan's glare.

They all took one step towards me, whether they were earnest or trying to intimidate me, making me take a step back.

"Y-you're scaring me," I forced out.

The three of them stopped, seeing the fear in my eyes, which I tried to fight back and instead show them the little backbone I have left if it wasn't already broken. Three big guys ganging up on someone would make anyone tremble in fear. They may seem like some comic relief in how they talk to each other, but the reality in this is too much. They can hurt me just as easily as the rest of them.

Jordan forced out a smile, a fake lost from his usual seeming genuine smiles. "You shouldn't be scared."

Declan started, "We didn't mean to..." He faltered, not knowing what to say.

Bennett was quiet for a moment before he asked, "Would you want to meet up with us?"

I paused, knowing I had no choice. They may seem to be asking me to be "polite", but if I say no they'll make it turn to a yes, one way or another.

I began, "If you want me to..."

"But it's not like we're forcing you," Bennett assured me. "You don't have to if you don't want to. We don't want you to do anything you don't want to do."

I looked at them, and I mean really looked at them. I didn't get it, I didn't understand it, and I didn't want to. They went through all of this effort, wasted all of their time, just for a hopeless cause. But they should have known what they were walking into.

"Then, no."

I expected them to yell at me, a demand why. I expected them to threaten me, with either words or their fists, for me to change my mind, despite what he had just assured me. They may have seemed to let me have the choice, but in the end, they have the power. It's always been like that. They tell me what to do, and I'll do it because I have no choice. They have all the power over me in their hand, or really it is their hand, turned to a fist. But they didn't do it, either because they didn't know they had it or didn't want to.

Bennett let out a breath, almost like a sigh. "Okay." He turned to the others. "Let's go."

I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing seemed to be there.

Jordan glanced at me and probably noticed the confusion on my face. "Were you expecting something else?" Jordan asked.

I didn't say anything, I couldn't say anything.

"If you said no, then no," Declan said. "Like Bennett said, we're not forcing you. But the offer is always there. "

With that, they walked away. I couldn't help but watch them as they do so. I didn't get the whole point of their trouble interacting with a lower life form unless all they wanted me to do is leave me confused.

And late to class.

I hope you guys enjoyed that little interrogation of mine. Although the donuts were good, I never want to be caught in an interrogation again, especially with those four. If you haven't already, I hope all of you will be able to join the giveaway for the chance to have a dedication of a chapter to the sequel of TGGBB2. The giveaway link is below. I'll be at this post practically the whole day, so I'd love to talk to you guys about anything from the book to donuts (or any other breakfast treat you prefer)- Along with the other characters as well.
