"Okay, here's the plan," I say to Vi. Zach, Vi, her little sister, Abby, and I are at my house, getting ready for Operation Dolly. "Zach and I will be in the car. Vi and Zach will be on one phone, I will be on the other. Vi, just talk to Zach like he's Zach. Abby, you and Vi will go inside. Vi, if it's Leo, say 'She looks exactly like the doll' if not, say 'this is so lame'. If it's not, abort mission. We're failures. If so, Abby, give this Dolly. It says we know that she's Leo and we have the police if she's being held against her will. It also says that if she is, to sign it in red, if not, in blue. Tell us what color she chose so we can call in. Make sure the other three do not see the note. Okay? Great. Any questions? Okay, good. Let's go."

We pull up to the store and let Vi and Abby out. Zach calls Vi's phone, and she picks up after they enter the store. "Hey, Vi," he says putting it on speaker.

"Hey, Sailor," she says. I gag.

"How's babysitting?"

"She looks exactly like the doll. Right Abbs?"

"Yep! She's so pretty!"

"It's Leo!" I say.

"Okay. Is the line long?"

"Not really. We're in the back, though."

"Okay."

"Does she look like she's suffering?" I ask. Vi starts to lower her voice.

"She's great around the kids. She smiles. Rhonda has her hand on Dolly's back, though. Whenever Dolly looks at her Dolly seems sad. And Ronda nods."

"Ugh. I can't do this. How far in the line are you?"

"We're next to see Ms. Atkins. Oh, it's our turn. Hi, I'm Vi."

"I saw you with Zachary Keller the other day. Correct?"

"Um, yeah. We're, we're dating. How'd you know that?"

"I know all my customers. And what they do in my store." I hear the phone move. "Hi Zach, Katie," she whispers.

"Uh, hi?" I say.

"Be careful."

"What?" I hear movement.

"Hi, Mr. O'Hilda is it?"

"Oh, Carl, this is Katie's friend. I'm sorry, I don't think I ever got your name."

"Oh, I'm Vi. You're a mystery writer correct?"

"I am."

"You wrote the Kelly Cramer series! My favorite is Who Wrote it in Red?. I love it!"

"Well thank you. If you had a piece of paper I would autograph something for you, if you wanted one."

"Oh, um, I would love one, but I don't. Next time, though."

"Okay. Nice meeting you."

"You too. Hi, Dolly. You're welcome."

"What?" I ask.

"She mouthed thank you. Did you get my book reference?"

"Yeah. I'm gonna call now." I dial the police.

"Hello?"

"Hi, I'm here to report a kidnapping."

"Where are you?"

"O'Hilda Toy Store. The victim is my friend Leo. She was kidnapped yesterday morning. I found out that she is being held here. I am also reporting that I have learned information in a murder case." I tell them everything I've learned.

"Okay, we'll be right there." I hang up. The police station is right around the corner, and I can hear the sirens already.

"Vi, you still there?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, great. What's going on?"

"Abby found one of her friends and they're playing." Two police cars drive up. I run out of the car. Zach is behind me.

"I'm the one who called," I say.

"Great. Where are they?"

"Right inside. My friend is dressed as a doll."

"Who do I need to use these on?" The officer pulls out his handcuffs. The sirens are off now.

"The O'Hildas and Ruby Atkins."

"Okay, let's go boys!" Three officers run in, Zach and I follow behind.

"Vi!" He yells seeing her.

"Leo!" I run up to my friend, who looks like she is meant to be part of a haunted mansion.

"You know you're amazing, right?" She says, hugging me.

"A little bit."

"Ruby Atkins, Carl O'Hilda, and Ronda O'Hilda, you are all under arrest for the kidnapping of Leona Thompson and the murder of Linda Adams-Baker and Charlie Baker. You have the right to reman silent, and anything you say can, and will be used against you."

"We did it!" Vi says, kissing Zach.

"Mall and spa?" Leo asks.

"Mall and spa."
