Chapter Sixty-Six

Jenny had fallen asleep in the back of the Impala, an exorcism book laid open on her chest, using her flannel as a pillow.

Dean had been following John for the last few hours, when the truck ahead suddenly swerved off the road. Dean turned hard, causing Jenny to flip and slam right into the front seat before falling on the ground.

"Whose dead?!" She yelled, waking up in a quick haze. She looked up to see Sam frowning down at her, watching as she struggled to get up. "You mind slowing down before you turn?" She continued, poking her head up from the back.

"Sorry. It was unexpected." Dean said before the three got out. John was cursing every word in the book, looking like he was close to punching something or someone.

"What's going on?" Jenny asked as she looked at John, who did end up kicking his wheel in anger.

"I just got a call from Caleb." He spat, talking as if it were a bad thing to hear from your friend.

"Is he okay?" Dean spoke, starting to look worried.

"He's fine... Jim Murphy's dead."

Jenny frowned again, raising a brow. "Pastor Jim?"

"How?" Sam said, his stance turning to even more worry.

"His throat was slashed. He bled out. Caleb said they found traces of sulfur at Jim's place." Jenny looked away for a moment, staring out into the field.

"So it's a demon." She stated the obvious, and John nodded in confirmation.

"The Demon?" Dean asked quietly, his father shaking his head.

"I don't know. Could be he just got careless, he slipped up. Maybe the demon knows we're getting close."

"What do we do?" Dean continued.

"Now we act like every second counts. There's two hospitals and a health centre in this county. We split up, cover more ground. I want records. I want a list of every infant that's going to be six months old in the next week." Jenny and Sam shared a quick look before turning back to John.

"So... You think the demon is coming back for round two?" She asked and John shrugged.

"I sure hope not, Jenny."

"Dad that could be dozens of kids. How do we know which one's the right one?" Sam frowned as his father turned to him.

"We check em all that's how. You got any better ideas?" There was a short moment of silence before Sam looked down.

"No sir."

"Then that's it. Jenny, you'll go with Dean. Sam, you're with me tomorrow." John nodded to them and they all went back to their respective cars. Jenny paused for a moment and turned around, looking back to see John leaning against his truck, looking like he was close to breaking.

"John?" She called out, he turned away for a moment before looking back at the three.

"Yeah.. It's Jim. You know, I can't—" He cut himself short, his expression hardening into anger again. "This ends now. I'm ending it and ai don't care what it takes."

He got back into his truck after another moment, Jenny turning back to the Impala and got in.

Jenny and Dean pulled into the Salvation Children's Hospital, grabbing their fake ID's from the container in the glove box. Jenny handed Dean his before they got out of the Impala.

"You know, I think you should wear a suit more often." Dean joked as the two walked next to each other. Jenny hummed in amusement, looking up at him.

"Fancy a woman in uniform?" She smiled, Dean mimicking her as he opened the door.

"Who doesn't love a woman in a suit like yours?" Jenny walked into the hospital with a soft blush, turning back to look at Dean.

"Dean Winchester, such a flirt." The older Winchester brother winked at her as they walked up to the receptionist desk, a woman around their age walking past before stopping, turning to the two.

"Can I help you two?" She asked, eyeing Dean with a small smile.

"Yes, actually." Dean answered, the two Hunters showing the nurse their ID's. Her smile faded a little bit, skimping slightly.

"We need to see every birth certificate dating exactly six months today." Jenny smiled, hiding her ID. The nurse nodded, gesturing for them to follow her.

Jenny, Dean and John sat at the table, all staring at Sam. Though Jenny and Dean were more worried, John looked annoyed.

"A vision." He said flatly, Sam hesitant to nod.

"Yes. I saw the demon burning a woman on the ceiling." Sam explained for the hundredth time, Jenny biting on her nail, anxiously waiting for John to assume Sam was now a monster or something.

"And you think this is going to happen to this woman you met because...?" John trailed off,
raising his brows.

"Because these things happen exactly the way I see them." Sam argued, shaking his head and turned away.

"It started out as nightmares. Then it started happening while he was awake." Dean stood up and crossed over to the counter, pouring himself some more coffee.

Jenny kept quiet, unsure if now was the best time to tell John about how she'd get sick around ghosts or have a weird feeling when demons were around.

Sam suddenly winced as if a random headache had hit him before returning to normal. Yeah. It's like the closer I get to anything to do with the demon the stronger the visions get." He spoke
softly, painfully as he tried to describe what went down when he had his premonitions.

"All right..." John suddenly turned to Jenny, tilting his head. "When were you going to tell me about this?"

The three suddenly stopped, looking at one another.

"We didn't know what it meant." Dean answered as Jenny nodded.

"All right, something like this starts happening to your brother, you pick up the phone and you call me."

"You're joking, right?" Jenny raised her brows and sat down, crossing her arms.

"Call you? Are you kidding me? Dad I called you from Lawrence all right? Sam and Jenny called you when I was dying. I mean, getting you on the phone? I got a better chance of winning the lottery."

"You're right. Although I'm not too crazy about this new tone of yours, you're right. I'm sorry." John turned away as Jenny and Dean have each other an odd look.

"Look guys, visions or no visions, fact is, we know the demon is coming tonight. And this family's gonna go through the same hell we went through."

"No they're not. No one is, ever again." John seethed as Sam's phone rang, and he picked it up quickly.

"Hello? Who is this?" There was a quick silence. "Meg." Dean and Jenny whipped around at the name, John frowning in confusion.

"Last time I saw you you fell out of a window... Just your feelings? That was a seven-story drop." Sam suddenly glanced to John, shaking his head. "My Dad. I don't know where my Dad is." Sam hesitated for a moment before giving his dad the phone.

"This is John. I'm here." There was a long silence before John frowned in worry. "Caleb?" The three listeners suddenly dropped their arms, alerted by the name. "You listen to me. He's got nothing to do with anything. You let him go... I don't know what you're talking about." After a moment, John's eyes widened in panic, turning away. "Caleb. Caleb!" John yelled, no doubt meaning that Meg had killed another one of John's friends. He stopped talking for a while.

"I'm gonna kill you, you know that?" John fell quiet for a long time as the three others in the room stepped a little bit closer, trying to figure out what Meg was telling him.

"Okay.... I said okay, I'll bring you Colt.. And the dagger." Jenny, Sam and Dean's eyes suddenly widened, all looking at each other as John had clearly made a stupid mistake. "It's gonna take me about a days drive to get there. That's impossible. I can't get there in time and I can't just carry a gun or a knife on the plane."

✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧

"So you think Meg is a demon?" Sam raised his brows as Jenny shrugged.

"I thought it was obviously when she survived falling from the top of a building." She commented as John gestured to her in agreement.

"Either that, or she's possessed by one. It doesn't really matter."

"What do we do?" Dean asked as John paused for a moment before sighing.

"I'm going to Lincoln."

"What?" The three spoke in unison, John raising his hands up defensively.

"It doesn't look lilke we have a choice. If I don't go, a lot of people die, our friends die."

"Dad, the demon is coming tonight. For Monica and her family. That gun and that dagger are all we got, you can't just hand it over!" Sam argued as John waved a finger.

"Who said anything about handing it over? Look, besides us and a coupla of vampires no ones really seen the gun, and no one's really seem that dagger either. No one knows what they look like."

"So what, you're just going to pick up a ringer and a butter knife at a pawn shop?" Dean asked sarcastically, waving his hands around.

"Antique store." His dad corrected as Jenny flailed her arms up, turning away.

"You're going to hand Meg a fake gun and a letter opener and hope she doesn't notice?"

"Look, as long as it's close, she shouldn't be able to tell the difference."

"Yeah but for how long? What happens when she figures it out?"

"I just...I just need to buy a few hours, that's all."

"You mean for Dean, Jenny and me." Sam finally chimed in, the other three looking to him.
"You want us to stay here, and kill this demon by ourselves?"

"No Sam. I want to stop losing people we love. I want you to go to school, I want Dean and Jenny—" John paused for a moment as the couple's brows rose. "Don't act like I don't know you two are together." Dean and Jenny shared a look. John sighed. "I want you two to have a home together. Live normal lives. I want... I want Mary alive. It's just... I just want this to be over."
