Thirty One
Taehyung looked at the two men, his eyes wide, pleading. Mr. Kun stepped forward, concern enlaced within his features. “Taehyung, did something happen? Why are you…” his eyes traveled to the sheet, the only thing Taehyung was wearing.
“Please, you have to believe me. Let me go back, I have to go back! I don’t want to be here!” Taehyung pleaded, suddenly breaking. He crouched down, his bottom lip trembling as more tears released from his eyes.
“Taehyung...they were keeping you there—“
“My brother! Kim Seokjin is my brother! I was s-staying with him b-because m-my parent sold me to the c-club and t-they didn’t know. The previous o-owner w-was trying to s-sell me off a-and Hobi f-found me and I’ve b-been staying with them! Why won’t you listen to me?!” Taehyung screamed at the two men, who were struck speechless at those words.
“But—“
“Hyeri...h-Hyeri. S-She told y-you...d-didn’t she?” Taehyung whispered.
Song-Cha tilted his head, confused. “Step-mother? What about her?”
“Did s-She tell you a-about the deed?” He asked quietly.
“Yes, she was going through it, since she wants to make it into a ladies club.”
“All the way out of the city, four hours from here?” Taehyung questioned slowly.
“Well, she does have some peculiar tastes.”
“Why are you asking?” Mr. Kun suddenly added in. “Did something happen between you and her?”
D-do you know...J-Jung H-hoseok?” Mr. Kun nodded slowly, furrowing his eyebrows ever so slightly.
“Yes, I do. Why?”
“H-Hyeri...dated him, before.” Taehyung whispered, thickly swallowing his fears down. He didn’t want to offend Mr. Kun in any way, but he needed to tell him just what kind of person his wife was, what she was doing behind his back, as it was obvious that he had no clue as to what she was doing.
“And you’re bringing this up, why? We’ve been married for two years, happily, I may add.”
“Hyeri...did she ever tell you how she broke up with him?” Taehyung asked suddenly, his determination suddenly sinking in.
“Why is this important?”
“Hyeri dated Hoseok before Kim Namjoon rose to power in Korea.” Taehyung began slowly. “Hoseok...he told me everything about their time together. He was in love with her. And the night he was going to propose to her, she broke up with him.”
"You can’t force feelings, Taehyung. It may have been bad timing on her part, but you can’t blame her for not—“
“She broke up with him by attending the dinner he had planned for her, but she brought along a man, kissed him in front of Hoseok and told him that he was worthless to her because he didn’t have enough money or power for her.”
Mr. Kun tumbled back as if hit. “What?” He breathed out. “Taehyung, please, don’t lie to me. There are other ways to go back, but please don’t lie—“
“I’m not lying!” Taehyung yelled, cutting him off. “Hoseok is now the second most powerful underground leader in the whole country. He has money, power, everything Hyeri left him for, and she wants him back now. That club...she knew that I was on the deed. Hoseok and I...she’s jealous. She wants me gone. She comes into the room everyday holding a knife and threatening to kill me. She...she sent a man in today…”
Taehyung looked down at his state of dress, before look back up at Mr. Kun pointedly. The man was trying hard to wrap around the things Taehyung was telling him in his head. His wife couldn’t really be like that...could she?
He shook his head slightly. “I don’t know if I can believe you, Taehyung.” Those words deflated the male, and he curled in on himself, all confidence vanishing. “But I don’t have anything to prove that you’re lying, either. Do you...do you really want to go back? Hyeri keeps telling me that you cry on her shoulder and thank her for saving you time and time again after her visits. That you’re just too scared to say it aloud.”
Taehyung gasped at the man. That was what she told him? Was that why they seemed to resist against him when he pleaded for release?
“I want to go home…” Taehyung whispered. “I don’t want to be here. Song-Cha, you’re kind, and Mr. Kun thank you for trying to help me, but I was perfectly safe at Kim’s. The things he may do can be considered bad, but I love Hoseok, and my brother is happily married to Kim Namjoon. So if not for Hoseok, then for Jin, please send me home. You’re ripping me from my family. I already was kept from him for six years in a strip club, scared of the day someone would come in and rape me because they’d paid to fuck me. Don’t keep me again, scared of the day Hyeri will send another man in to hurt me.”
Mr. Kun nodded slowly, taking out his phone. “I will call Jung Hoseok, but I want—“
“Honey.” Taehyung stiffened at the sight of Hyeri. She looked over at Taehyung, her eyes widening in shock. “T-Taehyung.” She greeted, a shaky smile gracing her lips.
The male stood there, his back straight as he glared at the woman.
“How dare you.” He spat. “I am not some whore to be fucked, some slut to be used. How dare you treat me in such a way?” The man hissed. “You’re sick! Hoseok may love you still, but you hurt him, and you're nothing but a gold digging whore!”
Hyeri stood there, shocked. Before her lips twisted into a sneer. “Honey, I think he’s lost his mind. Perhaps we should send him somewhere where he can get some more professional help, as it seems that he’s gone delusional.”
“Hold on.” Mr. Kun said, holding up his hand. “I think that I am going to call Mr. Jung first.”
