Third Person POV

It had been about three months since Hoseok had started seeing Hyeri.

Namjoon didn’t want to be the antagonist in his best friend's story, but he knew that there was something wrong with the woman.

Some things just didn’t add up, and he was determined to find out what.

Of course, he had to watch Hoseok fall head over heels for the woman, going out and disappearing for hours before coming back, larger than normal smiles gracing his face.

Namjoon was happy that Hoseok was happy, but he was apprehensive, too.

Currently, Hoseok was out with Hyeri, the only other place he seemed to be going these days. Namjoon was beginning to stress not only about his friend, but about his business, too.

They weren’t at the top yet, in fact, they were still a pretty small group of men and women. Namjoon was determined to make it to the top, but without Hoseok there as much as he used to be, it was starting to stress him out a bit more and give him more work than he was able to handle.

Seokjin, Namjoon’s newly wed husband come into the office, as he was once again swamped with a bunch of paperwork, plan outlines, drug routes and everything else he could possibly have to do.

“Joonie...you should take a break.” Jin said quietly.

“I know…” he sighed, running a hand over his face in frustration. “But you know I can’t, love.”

“Let me help you?” Jin asked, smiling and sliding onto the desk beside Namjoon.

“You’re perfect.”

“I know.” Namjoon chuckled and laughed, shaking his head, already feeling better. He kissed Jin once before turning back to the work. “I hate to repeat this, but Hoseok needs to start spending less time with Hyeri. I know that he loves her, and I don’t want to drag him away, but…”

“You have every right to, Kim Namjoon.” Seokjin said sternly. “Hoseok knows that it’ll take a lot of time and effort to reach the top, he was very aware of that, yet he chooses, as happy as I am for him, he chooses to spend all of his time with her rather than you, his best friend, someone he promised to rise to the top with.”

“I don’t understand.” Namjoon muttered. “I gave him permission to confess to her, I just asked that he find out about her family life and who she was, yet he can’t do that? Hoseok can be stupid, but he isn’t that stupid. How can he not see how suspicious that is?”

“He’s blinded by her. She’s the perfect woman in his eyes. And Hyeri is a wonderful woman, she just seems to be a bit more distracting than we’d hoped.” Jin paused. “God, we sound like the bad guys.” He finally laughed out.

“Pretty soon, I’m gonna have to be the bad guy and tell Hoseok that he can’t see Hyeri as much anymore. He either gets his shit together, gets the information out of her and confesses to her, or he comes back and helps me.”

Jin paused yet again. “Have you...ever considered the option that...Hoseok may leave for her?”

“What?” Namjoon snapped hisnhead to look up at his husband. “What do you mean?”

“I mean...what if Hoseok decides to just leave this.” He said, motioning around. “What if he wants to start a normal life with the girl? Would you keep him from that?”

“Of course not.” Namjoon said, groaning. “I hope to god he would never, he’s my best friend, we promised each other that we would get to the top, no matter what. That if something became a distraction, we’d drop it...but if Hoseok truly wishes to leave, then I won’t stop him.”

“But..?”

“I don’t think Hyeri is the one for him.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Something is off about her. I know Hoseok has denied her being like this, but I could swear she flirted with me the first time we met, and a few times after. Almost like she was searching for a bigger fish.”

“You think she’s a gold digger?”

“I don’t know. It’s not place to judge until I find out.”

“Then find out.”

“That’s what I intend to do.”
