Chapter 2
When I came to again, I was sitting in the back seat of a limo. Well siting isn't necessarily correct. I was laying on my back. In a limo.
I was bought?!! When I was unconscious?!!?
I sat up, only to have a hand press against my forehead and make me lay back down. I froze. I was bought. What was I thinking of doing? Yelling at him? Running away? Fighting? I'm in no condition to do any of those things. Even though, now that I think about them, they seem like pretty good ideas. My entire front side stings and screams in agony. It felt like icy fire was being poured all over the open wounds.
"Don't move. I just only finished bandaging your entire front side." Said the man who bought me.
I closed my eyes and tried to accept that I was going to be someone's pet. All the rules that the Shop Keeper tried beating into me going through my head at top speeds.
Don't speak unless spoken to.
Never look your master in the eyes.
Always do as asked.
If you address your master, say "Master" or "Sir".
Never ask for things.
Your comfort is not a priority.
Your blood is for your master to take.
Never assume.
Your collar stays on and stays as tight as your master wants it.
The leash is for your master to do as he likes with.
Punishments are up to your masters discretion.
Don't complain.
Food is not something to be given to a pet.
Water is not free.
Everything has a price.
You are not a human, a living being, an entity with life, you are a thing.
Never ever talk back.
Well..... fuck those rules. I have questions. And I want answers. "M-Master?" I asked in a very timid voice, very unlike me.
He grunted in response.
"Why did you bandage me up?"
He paused for a while. "I don't like my things damaged."
Ah. Of course. I'm one of his 'things.' Did I really expect different? Correct answer: no.
Ashburn's POV
This girl is strange. She speaks and acts like a proper Pet, but she holds herself like a vampire. She is clearly in pain, but she hides it. She sees herself as a pet and a human. Her mind is an interesting mess. She can't decide whether she should act like a pet or how she feels. No. That's not right. She knows she should be acting like a pet. She just doesn't give a shit. Why? I'm not sure. All I know is that I was pissed when I saw her fall, and I'm not sure why.
I could smell and see the blood that coated her body, and all the lash markings made it pretty easy to guess where all the blood came from. As I was bandaging her up, I noticed that she has bite marks on her neck, and I know from the paperwork I was reading before she woke up, that that pet shop is the first place she was ever exposed to vampires, so they had to have come from the Shop Keeper. No wonder he wanted to keep her so badly. AB- is the sweetest and most rare blood type out there. Now that she is finally awake again, I know that her blood isn't the only rare thing about her. Her hair is black, which is common amongst humans, not so much with vampires, but her eyes. They are a really light amber, almost gold. The contrast between her hair and her eyes is truly astounding. Her lashes are long and dark as well so they make her eyes really pop, a good thing, cause her skin is so pale that her eyes would probably blend in pretty well.
"Of course," she muttered, obviously forgetting I'm a vampire and can hear her, "what did you think it would be Daliah? Because I'm different from the rest and not totally heartless unlike everyone else out there?" She scoffed to herself, but I couldn't help but smile. She has a tongue. That's for sure.
"So, Master." She said to me. "The Shop Keeper said you are a Lord? Lord over what?"
She's got guts, talking to me like we're on the same level.
I made her look at me by shifting in my seat and clicking my tongue against the roof of my mouth. When she finally looked at me I stated simply, "All vampires."
