The One Where Apollo Helps Out

It was quite a peaceful day for Will. There had been a rainstorm allowed through the camp barriers, and the sound of raindrops pattering on the windowsills was soothing. Due to the weather, most of the campers stayed within the cabins, leaving Will with a completely empty infirmary which was perfect for him to finally finish up some odds and ends he would be too busy to do so on any other day.

He hummed as he worked (being the son of Apollo that he was) and was just about finished with refilling and organising the unicorn draft to nectar before he moved up to sort out some files. Gentle fingers glided through the names, intending to alphabetically arrange them since they were such a pain to find when needed urgently. But his fingers hovered over a specific file, 'Nico Di Angelo' it said in Will's stereotypically messy doctor handwriting.

He looked sentimentally at the name, before pulling out his file for no particular reason. Nico Di Angelo just so happened to be the demigod that had made Will fall head over heels, yet they were just best friends and will forever just remain best friends.

Sighing, he took out the files and emptied the drawers fully. Will was so grateful for his friendship with the son of Hades, but he'd be lying if he said he wouldn't want it any other way — if things were to go his way, he'd want Nico was his.

"What's got you moping, kiddo?"

Will's natural demigod reflexes rapidly made him face the foreign voice in the apparently not so empty infirmary. Eyes adjusting to the slightly golden aura, he saw a broad shouldered silhouette sitting on the neatly made cots besides the window.

"Dad?" Will asked incredulously, unbelieving to the fact Apollo was sitting here so casually in all his god glory.

Apollo reached to have his sunglasses rest on the crown of golden hair which pretty much looked identical to Will's. A lot about the two looked quite identical to be honest, the cobalt eyes, the golden hair, the broad shoulders, the tanned skin. The resemblance was uncanny, to the point that everyone already knew when little William Solace stepped a toe into Camp Half Blood for the first time, that this bright eyed little boy was most certainly a son of Apollo.

"What are you doing here?" Asked the 17 year old, slightly weirded out by the fact that Apollo's appearance only made him look a few years older than himself, and he was his god damn father.

Sure he was what? 2000 years old? But that's besides the point.

The god hopped of the cot and swaggered towards Will, peering over his shoulder to look at the scatter files, then his gaze shifting to the lone file that belonged to the son of Hades. Apollo smiled, not one of his mirth filled smirks that got both the men and ladies swooning, but a genuine expression of contempt happiness.

"You've got it pretty bad, huh?" Before Will could object, Apollo cut him off, "No need to explain yourself, Will. He has aged pretty well hasn't he?"

Will choked.

"There is no way I'm having this conversation with you." Oh fuck, if Apollo was here to talk relationships - gay relationships - then Will would much rather stab his hand with a fork several times than to with stand this conversation.

Apollo gave him that stupid all knowing look given that he was a god and all, "Look, Will. I'm Apollo! Where else are you gonna get better advice from than me? The last time I got rejected was when Aphrodite was forced to marry Hephaestus, which was not fair by the way. But I'm the biggest flirt there is! Name one person who'd help you get Nico than me?"

"Zeus happens to have had quite a few endeavours," Will challenged stupidly, a bolt of electric blue lightning striking just beyond the infirmary window.

Apollo looked sour, "There's a difference between me and paps. Zeus just can't seem to keep it in his pant, his mind and his dick should basically be the same thin—" cue another dangerously close bold of lightning.

"Look kiddo, I'm just giving you advice, you should feel blessed!" Will looked unimpressed, but was too unbothered at this point to cut his father off.

"You and Nico have been close friends for how long? A couple of years maybe? Honestly if I were you, I wouldn't know how I'd survive with maintaining a completely platonic relationship with that boy for such a long time. But back to the point, you both are as dense as each other, so you're gonna have to be a little more suggestive, Will."

"Please don't tell me—"

"Flirting is the best way at it."

"I don't even like Nico," Will announced. Which, yeah, was a total lie. But he needed a new tactic to get out of this conversation and if it was lying that did so, then lying it shall be.

The sun god looked unbelieving at first, but then his features contoured into his usual grinning expression, "So there's nothing going on between you and Nico?"

Will shook his his head, trying to fight of the smile because he didn't think it would actually work.

"Well sorry for interrupting kiddo, I'll cya soon" and with a flash of light, he vanished.

Finally, he thought, a puff of relief escaping his lips before he set back to work.

~•~ (Nico's perspective) ~•~

Nico had just finished up dinner, in which yes he actually ate something, and he still had a bit of time to spare before Will would routinely come looking for this whereabouts. Nico loved the friendship between himself and the healer, he valued it for so long, but of course, if perhaps something new could blossom from an already established friendship, Nico would love to get to know Will romantically.

But Will of course, was uninterested. Nico didn't really blame him, he wouldn't be quite interested in himself either to be fair. Yet it still hurt, to be so close to what you desire the most, and still be lightyears away. He sat there on Zeus' fist, watching the sun set in hues of oranges and pinks, wishing Will could be here to share it with.

Well, he got close to what he wished for.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" Said Apollo, who now sat besides Nico and scaring the shit out of him. Apollo watched the dying sun with a contempt sort of look and that's when Nico realised.

"Aren't you supposed to be driving that thing?" He's been in the sun chariot once, that time taking the form of a school bus, and he first made his descent into Camp Half Blood.

"Yes, but Hephaestus kindly installed an auto pilot so I don't even need to be in the chariot," he explained, now turning to face Nico, "It means I can enjoy a beautiful sunset with a beautiful person more often."

Woahhhhh okay, okay.

A single thumb grazed Nico's defined cheekbone, "You really have aged quite nicely you know." Blue eyes so painfully similar to Will's taking in Nico's features in a not so subtle sweep.

This was not happened, this was not happening, this was not happening.

Apollo fingers traced his lips.

Oh cazzo this was happening.

Nico opened his mouth to say something, not even knowing on what to word in a situation like this. Was 'get the fuck lost' too disrespectful for a god?

Luckily, he was saved, "Apollo? What are you doing here?" Said his lifesaver on multiple occasions, Will. There was something about him that was different, his tone seemed forced and his expression was guarded, his lips pulled into a thin, unimpressed line.

Nico hopped of Zeus' fist and Apollo followed suite, his hair looking like a halo in front of the setting sun. "I was just getting to know Nico a little more."

Will was fuming, a single match dropped onto a puddle of spilt gasoline. "Why?"

"Why? Well have you seen the boy?"

Okay so where could be the closest shadow so he could perhaps make a detour to China than to be stuck in this conversation.

"Yes I have, he's not yours," Will grabbed one of Nico's wrists and began to steer him away, Nico had never been more thankful yet confused in the entirety of his life.

"He's not yours either," Apollo retorted, latching onto Nico's free wrist, pulling him back towards the sun god.

And that was when, Nico found himself in the middle of a game of human tug-of-war.

"He is mine," Will growled, a sound Nico didn't even know the son of Apollo could even emit, and it wasn't fair because it made the skeletal butterflies burst out of their cage again. But at this point, Nico was definitely question whether he was still the subject of the matter.

Tugged left, "You didn't even want him"

Tugged right, "What gave you that idea?"

Tugged left, "I seem to remember, you explicitly told me 'I don't even like Nico'"

Okay, now that hurt. Stupid, he was so damn stupid for even having a sliver of hope that, maybe, just maybe, this could work out.

Tugged right, "That was so I didn't have to speak to you anymore!"

Tugged left, "I don't believe you"

Yanked right, "Believe this"

He was pulled so hard not that it was painful, but Apollo's grip on Nico had slipped. The confused son of Hades was now looking up into kind cobalt eyes, a hand cupping his cheek and an arm looped around his waist. The confused son of Hades was at first, unresponsive to the kiss with Will, but despite his confusion, he started to subtly reply by just pressing his lips a little harder.

It was short, and Nico was almost questioning whether that had actually happened. Whether he actually just kissed Will, wait no, Will kissed him. This was one sadistic nightmare if it wasn't even real.

"Good job, kiddo," Apollo applauded from behind Nico, he'd almost forgot about his presence, "Don't look at me like that Will, you refused to my advice so I decided to give you a little boost."

Will's face was utterly priceless.

"You're welcome!" Apollo singsonged, before disappearing yet again in a burst of golden light.
