Will fidgeted with his hair for the hundredth time this morning. He examined his reflection in the mirror and his reflection pouted back at him.

This was his one shot.

He couldn't afford to mess this up, if he did, he would probably lose his best friend forever.

Happy thoughts he told himself.

The doorbell rang.

Will jumped and went to check his hair again.

Deep breaths

He went down and his breath hitched.

Nico was standing next to his mom, and he was wearing a woolen hat.

The hat Will had knitted for him.

It suited him.

"Nico, hey!!" He said running down the stairs and promptly tripping into his mom who was stifling a laugh.

"Hi Will," Nico said amusingly. "You're dressed up today" he observed.

Will flushed.

"Let's just go to my room together"

Will paused as he registered what he just said.

"I mean... uhm I want to show you my room... you know with the bed."
Will kicked himself mentally. "Although the bed isn't important. Or it could be... I mean no, of course not"

Nico let out a small chuckle.
"You're cute when you're flustered"

Cute? NICO CALLED HIM CUTE????? ASHKSKAKAKALAL

Will coughed. "Shut up"

He led Nico up the stairs, and as he looked back, his mom mouthed "smoOoOoOoth Will"

Will sent her a withering glare and pushed Nico up faster.

Then they were alone.

They were closer now, Will noticed.

He reached out and gently caressed Nico's hair that had fallen out on the sides of the hat and tucked it behind his ear.

They were an inch apart from each other now.

"Can I... can I kiss you?" He blurted out.

Nico smiled.

Will's heart lifted but still, he hesitated.

Nico noticed.

"Hey, it's just me, what are you scared of?"

"I'm scared if I kiss you, I don't think I would be able to stop"

A beat of silence.

"Then don't" he replied, leaning forwards.

Their lips embraced and sparks flew.

It felt like eternity before they pulled away and Will immediately longed for the warmth of Nico's lips on his once more.

"I love you" he confessed, the words spilling out of him like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun.

Nico let out a small chuckle.

"I love you too idiot"
