Wildflowers Part 2
࿐ׂׂ༘ૢTHE NEXT DAYׂׂૢ་༘࿐
His stepfather has beaten him again. Tore off his wings and left him to fall. Fall fall fall all the way down to earth.
He visits Kayla and Austin, his relatives. It's almost the birthday of his brother, Michel Yew.
He had passed away last winter.
Suicide.
Everyone in the village insisted it was a sin.
Will didn't think so though.
Kayla and Austin's parents are talking about people, people like him, voices hushed and tense, pushing out the sentences, seemingly desperate to get rid of the words before they become "tainted with sin". Will feels like his head is filled with cotton. His world feels like it's crashing down around him.
The church says boys aren't supposed to love boys. They say that boys are only supposed to like girls.
Will does love girls...
But he notices boys too.
Like the boy with the dark eyes full of sin.

It's early spring, there's a layer of frost on the stone steps of the school, and kids are slipping and sliding all around. School has just finished.
Will pokes his hands in the pockets of his threadbare jacket. He's sitting on a low wall laced with honeysuckle and cornflowers, waiting, -no, hoping his mother comes and walks him home.
"Hey," A voice comes from right behind him.
Will jumps and whips around, nearly falling off the wall.
It's the new kid.
His eyes look deeper, darker, up close.
He scares him a little bit.
No, a lot.
He looks different than all the others that Will met, All pale skin and dark hair, his washed out shirt with a skull on it.
It looks like it's smiling at Will.
He shivers.
"Do you want to be friends?" The boy asks.
Will blinks. That wasn't what he was expecting.
Nico, he thinks. His name was Nico.
"Sure." Will reply.
They talk for a while about something or another.
It's the most fun Will had in a while.
He looks out onto the cracked road.
His mother is nowhere in sight.
He sighs.
He'll walk home alone then.
Will jolts, Nico has threaded their fingers together, gently tugging Will off the wall. His hands are as cold and as smooth as the stone of the columns in church. His silver ring presses against the golden haired boy's palm.
He becomes a little conscious of his own hands, warm and rough from spending hours in the wildflower fields, climbing trees and picking flowers.
A shout comes from behind them.
"F*GS"
(willing to bet money that that was Oct@vian)
Will freezes, it becomes hard to breathe.
He clutches at the hem of his jacket with his free hand, his knuckles becoming as pale as his thin white shirt.
To his surprise, Nico just laughs and flips the boy off.
Will's heart skips a beat.
Nico's laugh sounds like a chorus of angels.
"Come on," Nico says. "He's just jealous."
He starts walking down the lane, flowers parting before him.
Will follows.
"Is your house the pale yellow one at the end of the road?" He asks.
"Yes." Will says.
"Good,come on!"
Nico started to run, pulling Will with him by their intertwined fingers.
Will can't help but laugh as he runs behind him, both whooping and gasping with joy.
He feels his heart pounding in his ears, a steady rhythm of thump thump thump.
He feels like he could fly.
