TV show AU

They're about twenty five in this, but the age doesn't really matter.

Will's POV

I stood motionless behind the camera, holding the handle to my cart of snacks as the lead actor of It's a Small World, Nico Di Angelo, broke up with his current girlfriend, who was being played by Reyna Avila Ramirez- Arellano. I watched as his dark brown eyes shone with pain as he broke up with the girl he had been dating for an entire season. It hurt me to see my crush in so much pain, even if the pain was fake.

"That's a wrap!" yelled Mr. Gomez, the director. Somewhere a bell rang, and the actors came off of the set, chatting happily about the final scene of the episode before it aired later that night. Reyna stopped by my cart, and wordlessly handed her a bag of sour cream and onion chips, her favorite. I had long since memorized the preferred snacks of the stars of the show. I waited for Nico to get off of the set while I handed the actors trickling off the set. Finally, the black haired boy walked off of the set, and I handed Nico his usual hazelnut iced coffee with as many cremes and sugars as I could fit into the medium plastic cup.

"Thanks," he said, and I felt my heart fill with joy. He was the only actor who ever said thank you.

"You know," he said. "You give me coffee every day, but I don't even know your name. What is it?"

"Oh, I- I'm Will," I stammered. I could feel my cheeks heat up.

"I'm Nico, but you probably knew that," he chuckled. We heard Mr. Gomez call his name, presumably wanting to talk about next week's episode, which was going to be very important, if the rumors on set were true. They were introducing the main character's new love interest. Nico gave me a small wave goodbye. "See you tomorrow, I guess."

"See you," I blushed. Clutching his coffee, Nico raced to the small crowd of actors crowded around Mr. Gomez.

Over the next hour and a half, the cast and crew trickled away into the bustling metropolis of four thirty L. A, leaving me to sweep up the leftover crumbs and spilled drinks around the set. Actors were surprisingly messy eaters. I had just thrown a half empty coffee cup into the trash can when I heard a footstep on the wooden floor planks behind me and I whirled around.

"Oh, sorry, did I scare you?" Nico asked. He had changed out of his wardrobe for the show and instead of his character's usual outfit of pressed jeans, nike sneakers and on brand shirts, he was wearing black skinny jeans, a baggy red sweatshirt and high top converse. He looked more himself in his own clothes.

"No, no," I responded, wiping my dirt covered hands on my hands. "What are you still doing here?"

"Looking through my lines for the next episode," he answered. "Do you have anything going on right now?"

"No, I just finished cleaning up. Why?"

"Well, I'm not busy and I was just wondering if you wanted to grab something to eat? There's this place I know of pretty close to here." Was this a date? I was pretty sure that Nico was straight but, then again, the gossip magazines couldn't pick up every aspect of his personal life.

"Yeah, I'm not busy," I said finally. Nico's face split into a smile, one that was real instead of pretend.

"Great, do you want to get going?" he asked.

"Sure, let's go," I said. We walked out the doors of the set together, and I was incredibly aware of his presence next to me. I was living my, as well as thousands of other people's, dreams, right now. As we walked, Nico chatted away happily about the show, talking endlessly about how excited he was for the next episode.

"This one is where Bradley finds out that he's bi, you know. I really think that this one is going to be great. I've read through the script a dozen times, and I feel more in touch with myself." the gears in my brain started whirring again. If Bradley, his character, was bi, and Nico felt like this episode related to him than maybe... but I knew it was impossible. Besides, even if he was bi, there were thousands more out there better than me. It was better not to think about it.

Nico's POV

I was surprised that I had worked up the nerve to ask Will to get lunch with me. Every day I couldn't help noticing him, the tall, blonde boy who brought me coffee after we shot scenes. I also couldn't help noticing the way his eyes lingered on me every time we were shooting, but most of all I couldn't help noticing how insane my own hopes were. The chances of Will being gay were slim, and the chances of him liking me were even slimmer. But still, I wanted to at least be his friend, no matter how childish that sounded. I at least wanted to keep his eyes in my life.

"We're here," I said, stopping in front of the door to my favorite bakery, Just Bread and Butter. It was built out of old, weathered red bricks, with two clear, wide windows on the front with faded green flower beds hanging below the windows. There was an elderly couple holding hands at one of the small round, white tables but other than that, the bakery was empty. I held open the the thick white door, grabbing the glass doorknob. Will walked through, giving me a "thank you". I would never get tired of hearing his voice.

"So, what do you want?" I asked, picking up one of the small menus. "If you would like a recommendation, I would tell you to get the french vanilla latte and a cinnamon bun."

"You have a very refined palette," he chuckled. "You sure like your caffeine, don't you?"

"I do, thank you for noticing," I grinned. I glanced up from my menu and caught Will's eye. For half a second sparks flew, but then he looked down at his menu and the moment was gone.

"Can I get your orders?" asked a voice from above me. I looked up and saw Hazel, the young waitress who was always there during my favorite time to go to the bakery. She smiled at me, but then her eyes trailed over to Will. "Ooh, Nico, who's this?"

"Hazel, this is my friend, Will," I said, introducing Will. "And I'll get a french vanilla latte and a cinnamon bun."

"I'll get what he's having," Will said.

"Well, Nico, your boyfriend has very good taste," Hazel grinned.

"I said friend, Hazel," I grinned.

'Yeah, for now," Hazel chuckled. She must have seen the growing look of annoyance on my face, because she hurriedly looked back at the kitchen, where her boyfriend, Frank, was taking a batch of cupcakes out of the oven. "I'll get your food." She turned on her heel and bounced away, occasionally looking back at us to see if we had started making out over the table, which we weren't going to do.

"Why would Hazel think we were dating?" Will asked, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. "I- I mean you're straight, right?"

I knew that this question would come eventually. This little trip, outing, whatever you wanted to call it, was too much like a date. It was spontaneous and rash, and all around suspicious.

"I mean, I'm kind of straight. I like girls, I do, but I also like boys." I didn't know what I was saying. The words kept coming out in waves like word vomit, and I couldn't stop it. "I like you, Will. Every day you bring me coffee and I can't help noticing your blue eyes or your blonde hair or your little smile when you watch the filming, but I could never get up the nerve to tell you because I can go through five interviews a day but when I see you I just clam up and get all nervous and I can't say more than a simple thank you." I stopped talking, taking a huge breath. I glanced up nervously at Will, and saw a small tear glistening in the corners of his eyes.

"Nico, I like you, too," he said, looking me in the eye. "I watch you act, and I watch reruns of the show over and over again, and you're the only actor who says thank you and you're so sweet and cute but I never thought that someone like you would ever like someone like me." I smiled.

"Will, how could someone like me not like someone like you?" I leaned over the table and he did the same. Our lips pressed into each other, and we were still kissing when Hazel came back with our food.

"Called it," she muttered.

Will's POV

There was trouble on set, I could feel it. The first day of a new episode, and something bad had happened.

"The fact is, we don't have time to find another actor," Mr. Gomez shouted. "The fans are expecting the new episode in five days, and we have quite a bit of work to do." Grabbing the handle to my cart, I wheeled it over to the large throng of people gathered around the director's chair.

"Mr. Gomez-" I heard Nico start to say, but Mr. Gomez cut him off.

"I simply cannot believe that the actor who was supposed to play Jake, Bradley's love interest, got hit by a bus! This is terrible!"

"Terrible because he's hurt, not because you're down an actor, right?" Reyna asked. Mr. Gomez paused.

"Yes, yes, of course."

"Mr. Gomez!" Nico shouted. "I have an idea!" The group stopped talking and everyone stared at Nico.

"Yes, Nico?" Mr. Gomez asked, a surprised tone in his voice. Nico was a sweet person, and generally didn't yell. Nico pushed his way through the crowd and grabbed my hand, making me leave my cart of snacks and pulled me to the middle of the throng.

"Mr. Gomez, this is Will," he said.

"The snack boy?" Reyna asked. "What does he have to do with anything?"

"I think that Will would be a perfect fit for the role," Nico responded.

"I would?"

"Yes,"  Nico said, giving me a strained look. "You would." Mr. Gomez considered me thoughtfully.

"Are you okay with kissing a boy on- screen?" he asked.

"Yeah," I responded quickly. Mr. Gomez though some more.

"Just... show me what you can do. Show me some chemistry between you two." He waved at the crowd to make some room for us. Nico stood across from me, and I grabbed his hand.

"Nico," I said, my voice quiet. From my peripheral vision, I could see the cast and crew leaning in.

"I love you, too, Will," Nico said. We leaned into each other and let our lips crash. Sparks flew.

I think these are getting longer, because this was unintentionally over 1800 words. Also, sorry for the title, I couldn't think of anything. Anyway, I hope you liked it!
