Hot or Cold(part 2)

Request for @jedipapaya for a part two of the soulmate au I did a week or two ago. Also, sorry this is late I didn't have my phone last night. Enjoy!

Nico's POV

Will and I eventually parted ways at about five a.m. after that night in the side street together, both of us having class in a few hours and being too tired to keep our eyes open. I was exhausted on the walk home but as soon as I slipped into bed I was wide awake, thoughts rushing through my head. I found my soulmate. I wouldn't be lonely anymore. No more listening to other people gush about their dates, or being the only single person at the party. From now on I would be with Will, and my heart soared with the idea. I was still lying awake in bed when my phone buzzed on the nightstand next to me and I picked it up to see a text from Will lighting up the screen. You up? he asked.

Yeah, I typed back quickly, doing my best to avoid any typos. I couldn't sleep after tonight.

You're not busy tomorrow, are you? He asked.

No, why? As soon as I answered the question I saw the three little dots pop up onto the screen.

There's this cute little coffee place on campus, I was wondering if you'd want to go after your classes. I had to bite my lip to keep from loudly squealing as I saw the text. I would see Will again tomorrow, see his bright eyes and goofy smile. I loved every part of him.

I'd love to, I responded. Does four work?

Perfect, Will responded. I should get to bed, I have an early morning class. We sent our goodbyes and I set my phone back down, now more excited than ever. I didn't think I would ever sleep but an hour and a half later I somehow managed to drift off, managing to get an hour and a half of sleep before I awoke to someone standing over my face.

"I'm so happy for you!" Hazel grinned, hovering over me. I groaned, rubbing at my eyes and blinking out my window, at the sun-kissed campus and the students scurrying around it. She thrust something into my hands and at closer inspection I saw that it was a cake, purple writing reading Congratulations Nico! on the chocolate frosting.

"Thanks," I said, accepting the cake and setting it on my lap. "You didn't have to do all of this, you know." Hazel shrugged.

"It's a big occasion," she stated. "Besides, I know how big of a deal finding your soulmate was to you. I wanted to do something special." She paused. "So, when do I get to meet this person?"

"Soon, hopefully," I said. "I'm meeting him for coffee today after my classes."

"I've got to go meet Frank, but I hope you have fun," Hazel said. "Have a good day!"

"You, too," I said. As soon as she was gone I jumped out of bed, throwing on a decent outfit and stuffing all of my notebooks into my bag and grabbing a piece of toast before I left. I had a class that started at nine, and I couldn't be late. Besides, the more time I spent doing something would be less time spent anticipating the date to come.

------

When I sat down in my usual spot in A History of Music Percy was sitting next to me, grinning ear to ear. "So, I finally happened?" he said. "I knew it would happen. You were patient, and look at the payoff!" I frowned.

"How did you know I found my soulmate?" I asked. "Did I text you? Percy shook his head.

I"m friends with Will, too. I talked to him about you this morning and you should have seen the way he was blushing. He really seems to like you. He's pretty attractive, too."

"Percy!" I complained. "He's my soulmate, not yours." Percy shrugged.

"I'm just trying to make sure that you have what's best for you," he said. "But honestly, congratulations. You deserve to have found your soulmate." I found myself smiling. Percy wasn't usually serious about things. He was usually on the jokier side of the conversation but when he was serious, that was when you could tell that he really meant what he was saying.

The class started and although it was an interesting class I was zoning out every few seconds, checking my phone for a text from Will. I was disappointed but not surprised when I saw a blank screen; he had classes just as I did and although he might not be texting me, I'd have him all to myself that afternoon.

------

The main topic of conversation surrounding me that day was that I had found my soulmate, and I wasn't unhappy. Somehow it must have gotten around to my friends, because it was all anyone was talking about, how the late bloomer had finally blossomed. I didn't mind the attention, though. I liked it. I liked the talk about me finding my soulmate, and I liked the talk about how good Will and I would be together. My favorite part, though, was when my final four o'clock class of the day got out and I was free to walk across the campus to the small coffee shop Will had mentioned. I had seen him less than twenty four hours ago but somehow it seemed like weeks. Maybe it was because I was falling in love so quickly, or maybe it was that everyone had already had such a long time with their soulmate, and I had to make up for lost time. Whatever the reason I nearly ran across campus, my backpack lightly bouncing on my back behind me. At one point in my jog I stopped to catch my breath and while I was bent over, breathing heavily I caught another glimpse of the beautiful tattoo that I had been admiring for the past day. Even though it had been there for such a short while it looked like a natural part of my body, and I loved it. I rolled up my shirt sleeve just so that people could see my tattoo and I kept running.

------

Will was waiting inside for me when I reached the coffee shop and my smile was huge when I saw him standing just inside the door, the sun streaming in giving him golden outlines and making him look like an angel. "You didn't run here, did you?" Will asked. "We could have found somewhere closer to your last class, if you had wanted to."

"It's fine," I said with a shrug, sitting down at an empty, two person table and slinging my jacket across the back. "I didn't mind, considering I got to see you." My heart was pounding as I waited for him to respond but it didn't take even a second for him to blush, smiling softly down at the wooden table.

"Well next time we can pick somewhere only ten feet away from your next class," Will promised. I had tuned out after the first three words. Next time! I thought to myself excitedly. This meant that there would be a next time coming soon, and that Will was already beginning to plan it.

Will got a mocha latte and I got a plain black coffee and we sipped them happily, talking with no sign of running out of conversation points. I had read stories of those who had met their soulmates and hated them, and they had never found love after that. Those stories were rare but there had been times I was scared that something like that would happen to me but now that I had met Will, those worries were gone. Will was the best person who could have been my soulmate and although we had only been together for a day, I could already imagine spending the rest of my life with the boy in front of me.
