11 - violet skies.

FLORENCE ODETTE WAS RELIEVED that all the pureblood events were over. She was excited to be getting back to school with her friends. Marcus had been writing her and she had been writing him. The two were a bit of a thing.

Florence really liked Marcus he made her happy,  that's what matters, right? He was pureblood her parents would approve, his blood really didn't matter though.  But whenever she was with him she couldn't help the wandering thoughts of the previous interaction with Sirius at the back of her mind, even just the thought of him was there.

Whenever she would think of him, she would feel guilty. It was painfully obvious Sirius didn't care, so why did she? Florence wasn't sure why she cared, not that she spent time only thinking of him. Marcus had even come over to the manor at one point during the break, that's when the two made it official. He was nice, funny, and good looking. Good company to be with. Her friends liked him, so why wasn't she content? She didn't even like Sirius. Florence just didn't like how they had left things. She knew one thing. If she had any romantic feelings for Sirius she wouldn't be anything with Marcus. He didn't deserve to be led on.

Florence was sat up in her bedroom at the manor. It was the last day before she was due to go back to school. She was relieved she would finally be able to relax for the rest of the year without having to leave for events. She would never admit this to Caroline but she did miss them dearly.

A knock echoed through the room from the door. Florence looked up from her spot on her bed at the door, "May I help you?" She asked. The door creaked open and a small figure appeared with wide doe like eyes that mirrored tennis balls, "Mistress Florence, Mistress Odette would like your presence in the dressing room, now."

Florence smiled softly at the elf named Rain-Drop. "Okay, Rain-drop, I will be there now. thank you."

Rain-drops's lips curved up into a crooked smile as she bowed and left the room hurriedly.

FLORENCE KNOCKED ON the door of her mothers dressing room. "Come in," the voice of her mother said. Florence stepped into the room shutting the door quietly after her. "You sent for me."

"Yes, yes, honey, sit down please." Renee had a copy of the prophète magique in her hand and a glass of who-knows-what in her other, she gestured to the seat in front of her. Florence sent her a tight lipped smile and walked silently to the chair and sat down. "What is it?" she asked curiously.

"How are you?" Renee asked putting down the paper on the coffee table.

Florence raised a brow, "er, good?" It wasn't odd for her mother to ask her how she was, it was just odd she would call her here for just that.

"I'm glad to here it," Renee said, "I am afraid you will not be returning to school."

"What?!" Florence asked her eyes wide. Why wasn't she returning?

"Well, your father and I enjoyed London very much." Her mother started.

"No." Florence cut in.

"-That we decided we would like to move there full time."

Florence gasped, "No! My whole life is here, my friends, my other friend, everything is here."

Renee shot her daughter a pointed look, "I thought you would be happy, you enjoyed London."

"Yes, I liked it as a temporary place. Not to live there."

Renee shook her head, "We still have the house there it is all set. You will attend Hogwarts, we have it set up with the headmaster already. You will be sorted properly in his office, I expect you to get into Ravenclaw or Gryffindor."

Florence gave her mother a pleading look. How would she possibly tell her friends she was leaving randomly?

Renee's eyes softened slightly, "Look, Florence, You are a very likable girl! You will make friends very quick, just give it a chance... please."

Florence's eyes softened as well, "Fine."

A FEW DAYS LATER, Florence found herself on the platform 9 3/4 awaiting for the train to Hogwarts. She had her trunks beside her, her arms were crossed as she stood silently leaning against a pillar. The girl was wearing black tights with a black skirt, random shirt and leather jacket. Her hair messily in a clip.

Florence watched the groups of teens walking frantically to find their friends, kids hugging their parents, and friends talking animatedly, A few even snogging. She veered her eyes away from those people focusing her eyes on the train tracks.

She could see the violet sky from the windows on the ceiling of the platform, it was breathtaking. Florence smiled slightly at the sight.

"What are you doing here?" A voice spoke out.

Florence broke out of her stare to see non other than Sirius Black standing there staring at her her.

She really wasn't in the mood.

Florence rolled her eyes and took her trunk having it float behind her as she walked away from the boy.

FLORENCE FOUND A COMPARTMENT on the train that was deserted so she could sit alone. She sighed as she looked out the window. She really was going to miss her friends.

She figured it was time to write to them telling them she would no longer be attending.

Florence took out four pieces of parchment and wrote:

Dear Marjorie,

I hate that I have to write this. But, considering you are already at school and probably wondering where I am, I thought it good to tell you.

Apparently, my parents enjoyed London a little too much and have now decided to move there.

So you might be wondering, where am I? Well let me tell you. I'm currently sitting on the Hogwarts Express on my way to Hogwarts.

I'm heartbroken to leave you, considering you were my first real friend and longest friendship. It hopefully won't be too bad. I will miss you and Caroline like crazy, but we will still see each other, right?

You know what? I'm answering for you. Of course we will. We have been friends for six years. It's too late to tap out now. You can't get rid of me that fast.

How is new term so far?

All love,
Flo

Dear Caroline,

You probably are wondering where I am, any guesses? Well I'm on the Hogwarts Express on my way to Hogwarts. It turns out my parents enjoyed London a little too much.

I'm gonna need you to do a favor, Care, spread the word. You always were the gossip, so I trust you. I HATE that I will be leaving, I enjoyed school a little too much at times. Please tell my favorite teacher this news, I don't know how to write to him, oops.

Anyways, the uniform here is absolutely atrocious. A robe. A ROBE. Yep, you heard me right. I get to say goodbye to my dress and hello to a ROBE.

Anyways, we are getting together this summer, maybe sooner. Can I break you into Hogwarts?

Anyways bye!! I will miss you a little bit, I guess.

Love,
Flo

Dear Marcus,

Turns out my parents liked London a little too much. Considering I'm currently on the Hogwarts express on my way to Hogwarts.

I'm sorry for very little notice.

This also means unfortunately what we have is over. I enjoyed what little time we had, it was nice. It's not fair to you to do long distance, so I figured it best to end it now.

Bye Marcus.

Thanks,
Florence Odette

Dearest Camille,

I know we are not on the best of terms right now but I thought it would be nice to have closure. I'm currently on my way to a new school in Scotland. My parents wanted to move.

I'm really sorry about you and Omar. It sucks going through a breakup. I would just like to make it clear I had no idea of his feelings for me or I would have shut it down and tell you immediately. He doesn't deserve someone like you, you will find better.

You were a good roommate, and friend.

FLORENCE WAS SITTING at the Gryffindor table after being sorted in the house of the brave and chivalrous. After getting off the train a huge man by the name of Hagrid escorted her to Dumbledores office where she got an old hat placed upon her head that would apparently sort her. After ten long minutes, she got placed into Gryffindor, (it took a while because Florence was apprehensive, she didn't want to get lice!)

Florence was mesmerized by the Great Hall. She had thought Beauxbatons' was breathtaking but in reality, it held nothing to Hogwarts. The hall was lit by what looked like thousands and thousands of candles that were floating in midair over four long tables, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Where everyone was sitting in front of each student were glittering golden plates and goblets.

At the top of the hall was another long table where the teachers were sitting. Florence looked upward in amazement and saw a velvety black ceiling dotted with stars. No wonder Sirius was obsessed with stars Florence thought.

Down a few paces were Sirius and his group of rambunctious teens. Florence noticed a sandy-haired boy who was pretty cute if she did say so herself. Then there was a boy with dark unruly curly hair and spectacles. Lastly, a boy with short blonde hair and full cheeks. They were all talking with each other animatedly. Florence had a lingering gaze on Sirius as she looked back down to her plate.

"You're new." A girl with blonde hair said from beside her.

Florence looked up with raised brows, "Yeah, I am."

The girl smiled, "Nice, you got into Gryffindor. The best house in my opinion. Where are you from? What's your name? I'm Marlene Mckinnon."

Florence's eyes were wide, the girl sure did talk a lot. She liked it. "Nice to meet you too. I'm from Beauxbatons but my parents liked London best so here I am! My name is Florence Odette."

Marlene's smile only widened, "The Florence Odette?"

"Depends on which Florence you are thinking of."

"The one that was at the stupid pureblood soirée season, the one that the Sirius black who could have anyone couldn't shut up about?"

Florence laughed, "turns out I am then. Did he tell you he then ghosted the girl he couldn't shut up about? And then I find him in my room and he is a tosser."

"No!" Marlene gasped. Florence nodded.

"Oi! Black, you absolute tosser!" Marlene yelled to Sirius who looked up confused until he saw who Marlene was sitting by.

"Shut up!" Florence said hushing Marlene.

Marlene smirked but then her smirk dropped, "Wait, you aren't one of those blood-obsessed bitches are you?"

Florence mocked gasped and brought her hand to her heart, "How little do you think of me? Of course not!"

Marlene had a bright smile on her face, "I have a feeling you and I will get on very well. Hey, Lily, Mary, Alice, meet this girl she is cool!"
