Vinekit looked taken aback then replied calmly,"It's our apprentice ceremony!" Softkit looked at her sister,blinked,then said,"Where's mama?"

"Oh StarClan," Softkit raced out of the den. "There you are!" said Spotleaf. "I've been looking for you."

"I've heard."

"Did you hear the news?" She asked the soon-to-be Softpaw.

"No what is it?"

"Fernstar and Riverfeather are expecting kits"

"Who are they're mates?"

"Dovescar and Eagretsnow."

"Then who'll do our ceremony?"

"The 2nd Deputy."

"What's that?"

"The deputy who fills in for the 1st Deputy."

"Then Who's the deputy?"

"Riverfeather."

"2nd?"

"Adderwater."

"Let all cats gather to hear my words."

"It's starting"

"I know"

"Then go."

"We have to kits ready to become apprentices."

"Softkit and Vinekit step forward"

"From this moment on they will be called Vinepaw and Softpaw. Their mentors will be me and Waterleap. I'll be mentoring Softpaw and Waterleap will be mentoring Vinepaw." Adderwater leaped down the chasm and touched noses with her new apprentice, Waterleap did the same. Jaybird rushed out of the medicine cat den. "Snowyflight is really ill," he added with a stifled sob,"I truly don't think she'll make it." Vinepaw and Adderwater went to go comfort him.

"Snowyflight has gone to StarClan," Jaybird announced. Softpaw and Vinepaw asked in unison,"Can we please help Jaybird carry Snowyflight so the elders can bury her?" Their father smirked," One thing I know is that my Brother always needs help just ask."

"Where is mom?"

"She's visiting her sister, Fernstar has had her kits."

"Can we see them? We must see them! They're kin!"

Yellowleaf chuckled. "Of course." Yellowleaf lead them to the nursery, there was Fernstar. "Hello Fernstar." Fernstar smiled. "Hello my kin, here to see him?"

"You bet!"

Fernstar removed her tail, revealing a tiny bundle of muddy brown fur. "His name is Harekit."

Softpaw then had the strangest feeling, a sort of pulling, when she stared at the kit.

Softpaw closed her eyes, she was so tired. "What, where am I?" Softpaw's eyes widened, a cat had appeared, a light brown and white tabby that looked every much like her sister. "My name is Leafpool," the brown cat said. "What you're feeling Softpaw, the pulling, is love." 'What! I can't love him he's my kin!' The brown cat,Leafpool, twitched her ear. "I hear your thoughts you know." 'Fox Dung!' "But I can't I'm related!" Leafpool merely yawned. "I can't change StarClan's will..............."
