Concert---4

I don't know anything about concerts, or instruments, or how long it takes to write a song! Please don't get mad because I write things that are unrealistic, I'm trying to do better

Rock wasn't exactly Logan's favorite kind of music, but it was tolerable. At least the stuff he had heard. He supposed he couldn't say anything on the matter since he listened to three songs, two of which by Pink Floyd, and one by Aerosmith.

Logan didn't really enjoy concerts in general. People screaming so loud you couldn't hear the music, or the instruments so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you. He spent most of them clutching his ears and grumbling.

So you can imagine he wasn't very excited when he and Roman came to the miniature concert hall they had in town. Roman had said the band was just starting to get big, so there weren't as many people as there had been when other bands came here on tour. Apparently 'Cotton' was local.

Roman had his red and gold denim jacket on with a black undershirt and black pants. Logan saw some girls swooning, like they usually did. Logan wanted to wear his black shirt and blue tie like he always did, but Roman and Emile would never let him be civil. He was wearing a grey button-down t-shirt and jeans.

When they walked into the concert hall, Logan found them a spot near the front. He saw Janus on stage, tinkering with his drum set.

Janus was mostly tan skinned, but he had vitiligo, so the left side of his face was pale and his eye on that side was brown, while the other was blue. He had a blonde undercut and a kind of overpowering presence, maybe even more so than Roman. It was good that he went to a different school, Logan didn't know if he could handle Roman AND Janus with their giant egos.

Roman yelled "HEY, SNAKEY!" Over the crowd and waved at Janus, who looked down at them and smirked. He put his drumsticks down and went over to them.

"Hey Ro and Lo. You guys came to the show! Hey, that rhymed. Remus said Roman might bring his boyfriend or something."

Roman laughed. "Virgil isn't my boyfriend. Yet. He had something to do tonight, so I came with Logan."

Janus raised an eyebrow. "Oh, I'm sure he had something to do, he definitely wasn't skipping out on you."

Roman narrowed his eyes. "Nice try, but we are going to the cafe on Sunday."

Janus shrugged. "I tried. See you guys on stage."

Before Janus left, Logan asked; "Where is the lead singer?"

"He's backstage, tuning his guitar."

Logan watched Janus walk upstage, stick his tongue out at the crowd, and then go backstage.

Roman sighed. "I think the show starts in a couple of minutes. Are you ready to have your ears blown off?"

Logan looked at Roman in surprise. "Figuratively, right?"

Roman hesitated. "Yes?"

The hall was now filled with people, all chattering excitedly. The lights above dimmed a little and the people quieted down. Everyone looked towards the stage.

Janus came out first, sitting on the stool of the drum set, twirling the drum sticks and grinning.

Next came the singer and bass player. He had light brown hair, a black t-shirt with the word "Cotton" scrawled on in neon pink, and a light blue jacket. He had shorts and black boots. Logan thought he looked familiar, and when the singer put his glasses on, Logan realized why.

He had those eyes, the ones that Logan would know anywhere. Big, brown doe eyes that sparkled in the light. It was hard to recognize him in these dark clothes and with a demeanor completely different than at school. Logan realized that the light blue jacket was his.

Patton was the lead singer for Cotton.

"How's everyone doing?" Patton said into the microphone, grinning. The crowd exploded into cheers and yells.

"Yeah? You ready to hear the new song? Spent all night on it."

The cheers became louder and more excited. Logan was losing his mind. He wondered if Roman could tell who it was, but when he looked over, Roman seemed oblivious.

Patton swung his guitar around his shoulders and strummed a random chord. The guitar was pastel pink and blue with white and black roses.

"This song goes out to the homophobic bitch-" Where did Patton learn to curse? "-Who tried to hit me yesterday." The crowd went wild.

Logan tried to process. This was where Patton was going on the east side of town. This was how he knew Janus. Why didn't Patton just say so? It wasn't that big of a deal.

Patton looked back and nodded to Janus, who tapped on the side of a drum four times before the song started.

And then Logan let go of his ears (not realizing he had covered them) and realized just how fricking gay he was.

"Gumdrop eyes and nose

Bubblegum hair and bones

Still don't see the point in your big charade

Hey girl Kiss the floor

I'm not human anymore

I'm a blemish on your perfect record

you wish I had...

Never been born? I don't care

I'm breathing and I'm keeping my flair

You wish I'd Never been born? at all?

Run away, I don't care

Bubblegum hair..."

Logan realized the song was about Chastity, the homophobic who had tried to hurt Patton. Logan remembered the short flash of rage that Patton had in his eyes for a moment that day. Logan could see the same fire in Patton's eyes while he was singing. Was this why he was always so sweet and happy? Did he bottle all of his anger up until he got on stage?

The song was coming to an end after a few minutes. Patton strummed the last chord and grinned as the crowd exploded with applause.

"Thank you! Alright, settle down. I've got another song for you all, promise not to make fun of me?"

The crowd's reaction was confusing, Logan couldn't actually make out any words, but it seemed that they were agreeing.

"Alright, alright." Patton grinned and strummed a C chord, nodding to Janus.

He was about to start the song and then something strange happened.

He looked right into Logan's eyes and stopped.

'Jesus christ-' He muttered under his breath and looked back at Janus, shaking his head.

Janus mouthed "What?" And Patton gestured towards Logan.

Logan stiffened. He realized that he wasn't supposed to be here. Patton wanted to keep this whole thing a secret.

Janus looked at Logan and his eyes widened. "Him?"

Patton nodded, looking panicked.

Janus stood up to address the crowd "Hey, sorry everyone, but we are going to have to cut this short. Something came up."

Varied sounds of disappointment came from the people around Logan, and someone near the back shouted "I want my money back!"

Janus sighed and tried to calm down the crowd. Logan saw Patton slip backstage.

Roman turned to Logan. "That sucks. Sorry I dragged you here, Lo."

"Oh, uh, it's fine. Just a second," Logan replied distractedly. He went out the front door and around back. He knew for a fact that this building had a back door that led to backstage, so the band and tech could get out without being pestered by the public. He assumed Patton would come out of that door.

He had been right.

It was starting to rain outside when Patton came out, he had his guitar safely in it's case and the hood on Logan's light blue jacket up. He turned and saw Logan there, looking kind of drenched in the rain.

"Patton?"

Omg, I almost made this chapter too long. The next one is gonna have some sappy sad angst. Be ready.
