Candyfloss---16

This is from Patton's POV:

Patton loves summer more than anything.

Not more than Logan, but more than anything else.

The sun is warm and bright, the flowers are blooming, the trees are rustling, and this year, the carnival is in town.

This is the first carnival Patton has ever been to. His old town was rather small and didn't have anything like this; Summer had always been fun, but not as much as it was now. Everything was just so AMAZING.

The smell of corn dogs and cotton candy in the air, the sound of children laughing and music playing, the bright lights in every direction that threatened to outshine the sun.

Patton did a little twirl as he walked down the pavement to find the outdoor stage. He was wearing a white t-shirt and Logan's light blue jacket over-top with jean shorts, his frizzy hair laying in messy curls over his forehead. Janus was walking beside him, wearing a black tank top, jeans, and a yellow jacket tied around his waist. He was a lot more calm since he had been born and raised here, and had been going to this carnival his whole life. His wispy blonde undercut was hidden under a baseball cap. Remus was on Janus's other side, skipping along happily in a white shirt with green short sleeves, a green skirt, and tennis shoes.

Some passing people stared at Janus because of his vitiligo but it wasn't mean staring, just the sort of noticing and sometimes pitying stares you would expect from a pretty much accepting town in southwest america. In fact, some people even found it attractive. One group of teenage girls broke into adoring whispers when he walked past, and he winked at them just for fun. They exploded into giggles and squeals.

Janus seemed to enjoy flirting with anyone who swooned at him no matter who it was, but he was never romantically interested in any girls. Remus didn't care when he did it, but Janus didn't ever do it with guys when Remus was around. It wasn't because Janus was afraid Remus would think he was unfaithful, it was because he was too occupied being love-struck by Remus to care when a cute guy swooned at him.

Patton giggled at Janus's antics and Remus slung an arm around Janus's shoulder. "Babe, was cotton candy named after your band?"

Janus snickered and joked, "No, Starlight, cotton candy was named like that because the person who invented it had the name 'Cotton.'"

Remus gasped. "Really?"

Janus burst into laughter. "Of course not. It's named cotton because it's fluffy. Jeez, Starlight, you're adorable."

"Stop making fun of me! And stop calling me Starlight!"

Janus looked down at him. "Oh really? Or what?"

Remus grinned. "Or I'll give YOU a belittling, adorable couple nickname!"

"I'd like to see you try to-"

"DANDELION!"

Janus blinked a few times, surprised. "What?"

Remus stuck his tongue out. "Dandelion! Because you look good in yellow!"

Janus had no expression for a little bit, and then his lips curled into the biggest smile ever. "I love you so fucking much."

Remus wrapped his arms around Janus's shoulders, satisfied. "I love you more, Dandelion."

Patton made a little "Aww," noise while the couple kept up the loving bickering. They really were too cute.

(don't judge me, I headcanon sappy demus, jeez-)

"I have to go meet up with Logie by the stage, you two gays have fun!" Patton called, slowly walking away. "But not too much fun," He added knowingly.

Janus blushed furiously. "Remus is rubbing off on you!"

Patton giggled and skipped away, light on his feet.

He came upon the stage with a cone of pink cotton candy in his hand. It stuck to his fingers and the edges of his lips and dissolved on his tongue- he had never had cotton candy before. It was better than he ever thought it would be.

The stage was a little more run-down than Patton expected but it was stable anyhow. It was a rectangular block of wood planks with scaffolding holding up lights and curtains instead of a ceiling. It was an outdoor stage, so the weather had obviously weathered it.

It was still the afternoon, judging by the sky it was probably 4-ish, but Patton didn't feel like checking his phone. The show was happening at 6, so he had close to two hours to meet with Logan and walk around the carnival.

Logan was standing by the stage, with a grayish blue button-down shirt and jeans. He was looking up at the stage and the fairy lights were reflecting off of his glasses- he had a distant, calculating expression, as though he was worried the stage would collapse. He was so sweet.

Patton bounded over to him and wrapped his arms around him, startling Logan. "Hi, Logie!"

Logan's face broke into a small smile and he hugged Patton back, relaxing into the embrace. "Hello, Patton. You're getting candyfloss on my shirt..."

Patton retracted with a gasp, the pink fluff sticking to the back of Logan's shirt. "I'm sorry!" He tried to get it off but the sticky substance just wrapped itself around Patton's fingers and dissolved against his skin. He whimpered while eating it off of his fingers pitifully. Logan chuckled and kissed Patton's forehead. "You know what they say, you are what you eat."

Patton blinked and then gasped. "You're RIGHT! I'm COTTON!"

Logan shook his head. "You are sweet and fun, and no matter what I do you always end up staying around."

Patton pressed a non-sticky hand to his heart and couldn't help the smile that broke out on his face. "OOH! Logie! Where do you come up with this stuff? Do you plan ahead of time?"

"What can I say, you bring out the best in me."

AGH! Logan is SUCH A FLIRT.

Patton blushed ferociously and giggled, trying to stifle it by biting the tips of his sugary fingers.

For the next two hours they explored the carnival. Logan was surprisingly good at carnival games. He explained that most of the people at the carnival were born and raised in this very town, and they have played carnival games every year since they were all small. Logan won a stuffed frog for Patton, which was amazing considering that as soon as he did the man running the stall muttered "What the hell? I thought this was rigged-"

Logan didn't eat much, but Patton did. Patton had a surprisingly big appetite, which was good because every time they passed a food stall, people would offer them samples and food. One group of old ladies cooed at seeing Patton with his stuffed frog and immediately offered him food. Patton was well aware that he appeared adorable to these old ladies, whose grandchildren probably wanted nothing to do with them. So he went along with it and chatted with them for a bit while Logan hung back. Eventually the ladies asked about Logan. When Patton said that Logan was his boyfriend, all of them cooed various "You are so cute together!" and "Quite a catch!" And Patton giggled uncontrollably.

Patton could also tell that Logan was on edge. To Logan, the group might as well have been a flock of vultures circling prey.

Patton reluctantly said goodbye to them and kept walking with Logan along the winding path that took them along the whole carnival.

Patton stopped in front of the Ferris wheel and gasped. "It's so tall! Can we get on?"

Logan shifted and a small smile spread on his face. "How about we go on the Ferris wheel after the concert?"

Patton giggled. Logan thought he was sneaky, but he was obviously planning something. "Alright then."

The two made their way back to the outdoor stage. The fairy lights were off at this point, they would turn on again when the concert started. The stagehands were probably saving the electricity.

Patton climbed onto the stage from the front instead of going up the back steps, ("Highly impractical," muttered Logan, smirking.) and grabbed his feedback guitar. He tossed the frog plushie he had been holding to Logan.

"Can you keep this safe for me, Logie?"

"Of course."

Patton examined his guitar.

The body and head of the guitar was pastel pink and the rest of the parts (neck, pickups, bridge, pegs, etc.) were pastel blue. The head and body had large light pink and dark pink roses printed on. It had no pick guard but Patton's guitar pick was especially made of rubber as to not scratch the finish, so it was okay.

Patton strummed a few quick cords and smirked. He had gotten this guitar a long time ago and he was greatly attached to it.

"Hey Pat!"

Patton looked up to see Janus jogging to the stage. He climbed up the front ("Why does nobody use the stairs?" muttered Logan,) and grinned. "How was your time with your boy toy?"

Patton blushed. "Janus, what the hell?"

He cackled and started to get his drum set ready. "Are we still doing that new song you wrote? I kind of feel like we didn't practice it enough."

Patton sat down on stage and distractedly tuned his guitar. "We have to play it! We might not get another chance and..." He looked up to where Logan was sitting on his phone, making sure he was out of earshot. "I want Logan to hear it."

The sky was getting darker. The sun was setting fast and soon the concert would be on. People were already sitting in the chairs by the stage.

Patton took a deep breath. "Hey, Orange?"

One of the stagehands appeared behind him. "Yeah?"

"Could you turn on the fairy lights? It's starting to get darker."

He nodded and disappeared again. Soon, the fairy lights flickered on, enveloping the area in beautiful yellow light.

Patton felt a light smile spread on his lips and he looked at Logan, who had taken a front seat in the audience.

He was so beautiful.

Standing up, Patton looked back to see that Janus had his drums ready. He checked his phone. 5:56. He technically had four minutes left. Janus handed him the lyrics and chords to their new song so Patton could look them over. After skimming over them once he set them down.

Patton had written a new song lately that was, admittedly, for Logan (Yes another one, back off.) This one was special because it was softer than 'Oblivious' and was technically about Logan's past. It was hard to pick up on to outside observers, it didn't explicitly state anything, but Logan would understand. Patton just wanted to show how much he cared.

Patton walked to the front of the stage and turned on the mic. "Hey everybody! Having fun?"

Some cheering from the crowd. Patton gave his most winning smile.

"Now, let's be honest, most of you guys aren't here to listen to our music. You are here because there are chairs and you need to rest after chasing your kids around this place."

The people laughed. It was a smaller crowd than Patton usually worked with, but it still made him warm up inside.

"Today we will be playing some songs you might have heard and at the end, a brand new one. They will all be the family friendly ones, so don't worry, parents, I'm sure your kids hear it enough at school."

The crowd erupted into more joyful laughter and Patton felt his smile become a bit more real. Logan smirked at him from the front row with sparkling eyes.

Patton took a deep breath and looked back at Janus. He let his emotions go, as he often did on stage, and the music swept over him. They launched into the first song of the night.

300 views? YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! We are approaching the end of the book NOW. I promise I won't stall any more. I have like two and maybe three chapters left to write and then I can work on other projects. I'm actually updating from my granddad's house right now, we are at a family gathering. He keeps saying stuff like "You got to learn to cook so you can get a good man!"

And my CLOSETED Pansexual ass is just; "Haha... yea."

So anyway, let me know if you enjoyed. Stay beautiful, stay smart, and stay strong. Peace out-

-Little Kat

P.S: Let me know what you think of Patton's POV. I really tried :)

P.S.S: NO, Logan is NOT going to propose they are in HIGHSCHOOL! Oh my god. I haven't even posted this yet and I can already hear you guys screaming it.
