Chapter 46

"Falling for you wasn't an option. It was a need."

"Nope."

Atharva groaned and glared at Aahana who just shrugged in reply and motioned for him to look around. Okay, now that he did, definitely this wasn't the best house out there but it could pass if major amendments were made. After going through several houses and getting disapproved for all, Atharva wanted to take back his words. He didn't want a new house. He was fine living the way he did so far.

"Next please."

"I swear to god Aahana, if you don't say yes to this one, I'm gonna leave you here alone." Atharva pushed the door open to the last house which he personally had found to be the best out of all. Aahana gasped and her eyes widened when she looked around, taking in every detail slowly.

"Oh my god. It's amazing." She gave a beaming smile to Atharva who felt like a heavy load was lifted off his shoulder.

"Finally," Atharva mumbled giving a genuine smile to her.

"But uh I don't wanna decorate it."

Atharva chuckled. He knew why. This was no house but a mansion exactly and of course, was going to take time to be well furnished. If Aahana were to do it, she probably would not be able to finish it.

"Now that you approve, let's go for lunch." He grabbed her arm and pulled her outside. "I'm starving."

She frowned. "Okay fine but when are we shifting?"

"I have called the best designers in town who'll be done by tomorrow evening. So after that of course." Atharva told her as they slid into the car.

A huge smile lit up her face and she clapped her hand excitedly as she looked at him.

"Really? What about dad and Nisha?"

"They too."

"I can't wait. I'm sure they'll love it here."

He took her hand in his free ones and intertwined their fingers, bringing it to his lips. "I love you." His voice sounded thick with emotions and when she looked at him like he'd given the whole world to her, he wished he'd said it more often, a lot earlier. But now he would, he would tell her how much he loved her every second of their time spent together.

Her heart skipped a beat and she felt a sense of unbeatable warmth spread within her. "I love you, Atharva." Her eyes were smiling.

He smiled back and turned towards the road letting comfortable silence fall upon them.

"Oh my god." Aahana squealed with wide eyes which startled Atharva, enough for him to stop the car. He faced her with a look that definitely screamed what now? "I forgot to inform Dinesh and Jay."

Atharva nodded and started to drive again. "Yes and our family also. We have the housewarming puja in the evening. I have told Pranav to grab everything required from the shop and be here by five."

Aahana agreed and dialled her father's number. "Hey papa, good morning!

"Good morning sweetheart, what reminds you of this old man today?"

"Oh papa, you aren't old." She heard him chuckle lightly. "And yes, actually we have bought a new house and we have the Griha Pravesh today. So I want you all to be here."

"New house? Why?"

"We thought to move in with dad and Nisha."

"That's really thoughtful of you both. Alright, we will be there."

"Okay, I'll send you the address and time. Love you, Papa, bye!"

"Bye sweetheart, love you too."

She then went on to call Jay who acted like it was his house they were talking about. He was so overly excited and loud, Aahana was afraid he'd jump in front of her out of nowhere.

"All done!" Aahana told him happily as the guard held the door open and they both walked into the cozy restaurant. When she turned to look at him, he had a frown etched on his face. She touched his shoulder which snapped him out of his deep thoughts. He gave her a close-lipped smile which looked more like a grimace and Aahana's smile fell.

"What's wrong?" They slid into their chairs at the corner near the window. The waiter placed a menu book after which he left.

Atharva shook his head but when Aahana's stare didn't waver off his face, he sighed. "I just..."

"Yeah?"

"I-I don't like... uh when he- Jay calls you sweet pea." His frown deepened. "I don't like it." He repeated again.

Aahana blinked. Did I hear him right? "You are saying you don't like the nickname?"

"No, I don't like that he has a nickname for you but I don't."

"Uh,' Aahana looked at him uncertainly. "You can have a nickname for me too."

"Really?" He perked up, a bright smile on his face.

Aahana nodded. "Yes, of course. You can call me anything."

Just then the waiter came back, "Your order, sir and ma'am"

"Butter Naan, egg curry, and Paneer makhani for both of us." They didn't have to look at the menu to know what they wanted. They shared the same taste in food.

The waiter noted it in his writing pad and nodded. "Anything else?"

"No, thank you."

He walked away which brought Aahana's attention back to Atharva. "So?" She leaned closer to him. "Did you find one just for me?"

Atharva gulped in surprise at the sudden change in her voice. "Oh no, not yet."

She grinned and pinched his cheeks from across the table. "You're just so adorable." He placed his hand on hers and pulled it down with a scowl on his face.

"That's it. We better eat." Right on cue the food arrived and Atharva couldn't be more relieved. He was stupid enough to have said that, he didn't want to embarrass himself anymore.

Aahana giggled and wolfed down her food and that's when she realised how hungry she actually was but her excitement had made her forget everything.

They were almost done when Atharva received a call from Pranav. He was already there. Atharva told him to wait outside as he and Aahana made their way back to the new house after having paid the bill in a restaurant.

Aahana waved at Pranav with a smile and he smiled back. She still felt silly whenever she saw him. It reminded her of how jealous she had been of him for no reason. And if even by chance, Atharva or anyone found about it, she wouldn't be able to live it down. Ever.

His eyes landed on Atharva behind her and his face fell, morphing into what looked like fear. He swallowed and lowered his face to the ground hurriedly.

"Did you get everything?" Atharva asked as he unlocked the door for them.

"Yes sir!"

"Good, put them in the main hall."

He nodded and scurried off. Aahana looked at Atharva. "He is your PA in office."

"I pay him for all my work." Atharva grabbed her by the waist and she collided with his chest, her arms flying around his neck in shock. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and kissed her cheek. "Are you happy?"

That made Aahana smile. She curled her fingers into his hair, feeling the softness between her fingertips. "More than I have ever been. Are you?"

He smiled, that charming smile that took her breath away. "You make me happy."
