Chapter 23

Jungkook gently places the bag that's filled with some spare clothes and other items needed for a weekend trip on the floor beside his bed. Today is the day the bus will be leaving from school by the evening, riding towards Busan. Jungkook already payed in cash at school, so he's going without a doubt.

What he isn't ready for is getting past Jin. If Jungkook is going to sneak out, he'll leave a note for Jin to see and not worry about him.

For most teenagers, this seems like a usual act of rebellion. Jungkook can't run from the fact that it shakes him to his very core that he's going to do something like this.

The entire morning, he has been walking back and forth in pure worry. He's scared Jin will smell his fear, but after so many years of holding back the smell of a pure-blood wolf, he should be able to handle that.

Should he do it? He'll be with Taehyung, his beautiful amazing mate who wants him there. On the other hand, he'll leave his ever so lovely father behind with broken trust. It probably isn't such a big deal, Jin will see the note and understand, it won't be a problem. When Jungkook comes back home, they'll figure it out and everything will be fine.

With that mental encourangement, Jungkook finally gets it together and leaves the bag hidden behind the bed before he walks outside.

Jin is walking around in the kitchen, cleaning up around the small space. Jungkook doesn't act any different and walks over to sit down. The cereal box is placed on the table beside a bowl with a spoon in it. Normal. Just like any other day.

Then why is Jungkook about to fucking gag his heart out!?

Okay. He needs to calm down. He takes a deep breath as he grabs the cereal box and opens it to pour his breakfast.

"What's wrong?"

The box slips from Jungkook's hand and his other hand immedietly flies and fumbles in order to stop the precious food from spilling all over the floor. After a second he luckily catches it in the most awkward position ever. He gulps slightly and looks up at Jin who's just having his eyebrow raised. That scared the younger.

"N-Nothing," Jungkook says and immedietly pulls off a smile, placing the cereal back.

"Aha," Jin says, clearly not convinced.

Jungkook opens his mouth to say something, but the words disappear and he closes it helplessly again.

"Jungkook?" Jin pushes it, but Jungkook just scoops the food into his mouth as fast as he can before standing back up. He grabs the bowl and quickly brings it to the kitchen. Before leaving, he kisses Jin's cheek and grabs his bag before heading down the stairs.

Jin is left standing completely confused, looking at the stairway that Jungkook disappeared down. Well, that's unusual. He shrugs his shoulders and turns back towards the sink with some still dirty dishes. With a loud sigh, he starts cleaning them up.

_________

Jungkook has been staring into space the entire time they have had a break, making Taehyung lift an eyebrow at him. Sure, it has always been hard to read Jungkook, but today he seems extremely off.

"Jungkook?" Taehyung gently places his hand on Jungkook's arm, making the younger flinch in surprise. Taehyung's frown deepens. Jungkook's always jumpy, but it has been a while since he straight up flinched at Taehyung's touch. He's very alert today.

"Are you okay?" he whispers, making sure the others around them aren't paying attention. They are by the usual table, eating lunch. Jungkook bites his lip and nods slowly, his eyes getting covered by his rather long black locks.

Taehyung is just about to ask some more before Jimin suddenly appears and slaps his hand on the table.

"I have just been given the program and guess what! There's a bonfire tomorrow when we're in Busan and we are going to the beach before that! I can't wait," he says and sits down next to his mates that grumble a little at the sudden loss of space. But if it's for Jimin, it's okay.

"Really? Are we allowed to drink? Cause then I know you're going to get trashed," Taehyung utters with a small giggle. He loves traveling, even more when it with friends - partying always being a part of it.

"Yes! For once, the teachers actually aren't self absorbed assholes who wants to take out freedom away," he sighs.

"Relax," Yoongi says and rolls his eyes.

"I haven't drinken alcohol in a long time, that's gonna be good!" Hoseok exclaims.

Jungkook just nods slightly, smiling as much as possible. He's excited for the trip, no doubt but... he's so scared to go home, he knows he acted weird this morning...

He just hopes Jin won't notice.

________

Jungkook almost feels his mouth run an ocean of water as he looks at the beef before him. Jin made some good food today, making a huge steak for his son and a smaller one for himself.

Jungkook almost completely forgot about the trip as he started digging into the delicious food. It isn't often they get steak and other meat because it's quite expensive compared to soup, pasta and rice. Therefore, Jungkook really appreciates the few times they get some good food. Not that he isn't satisfied with what they normally get, he will always appreciate whatever his father makes for him.

"Your appetite is seriously amazing," Jin chuckles as he gently brings his knife through his own steak to have a bite. Jungkook gulps down while nodding, clearly very happy to get this food.

For a moment there, everything feels normal. Jungkook isn't thinking about much but the conversation he's having with Jin and the food he's eating. His heart is more at ease than it had been the entire day. Just for a second, he was able to put his endless worries aside.

They talk about random things as usual, both telling about their day.

"So, you want some more? There's still a half steak left," Jin says and stands up to get the plate. Jungkook's mouth is too full for him to reply, so his big eyes simply follow Jin as he retrieves the food. Talk about being eager for food.

Jin can't help but fondly smile as he places the plate down in front of Jungkook which the younger immedietly takes as an invitation to take a huge bite.

Jin's hand reaches out and gently runs through Jungkook black, long hair.

"Eat all you can, my boy," he teases and leaves Jungkook to give him a glare. He hates being called childish or simply a 'boy' even though the titles fit him pretty well. He still hates them though.

Jin starts cleaning up around the living room as Jungkook continues eating, totally lost about what's going on around him. Therefore, he doesn't notice when Jin mindlessly walks into his room to put a hoodie (that was on the couch) inside his closet.

Jin hums a little to himself as he places the hoodie inside with the other clothes. He looks around the room and sees that it's messier than usual. He grabs the clothes that's throw all over the place and puts it in the laundry basket. Just when he's about to grab a shirt from the floor, he spots an end of a bag behind the bed.

It's an old travel bag Jin got Jungkook a few years ago for when they go camping in tents (since that's a cheap type of holiday).

With a frown, he walks over to it. It's totally filled up, barely being able to close. In the end of the bag where there's a smaller pocket, a piece of paper is sticking out. Normally, he wouldn't pry into Jungkook's stuff, but this is almost too obvious.

Back in the living room, Jungkook is finally done with his food. With a satisfied sigh, he leans back in his seat and closes his eyes for a second. He really needed a good meal today to get his mind distracted.

He doesn't get to be distracted for very long though when he suddenly hears a loud thud of something landing on the floor. With a frown, he looks over at his father.

"Jungkook. What's this?" the elder asks sternly, pointing at the bag. Jungkook immedietly chokes on his own salvia.

Fuck! He didn't notice Jin entering his room at all! He should have hidden the bag better. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck, what is he going to do??

"U-Um, I-... it's nothing, I swear-" he stutters out but is immedietly cut off.

"Nothing!? Jungkook, these are train tickets to Busan? Do you think I'm stupid?" Jin snaps and throws the tickets - that were in his hand - on top of the bag. Jungkook flinches slightly at that.

"It's not what you think, I-"

"Were you going to run away?" Jin asks, anger mixed with sadness in his voice. Jungkook gulps and feels his head heat up from working overload after trying to figure out what to say.

"I thought we discussed this Jungkook," Jin walks closer and stands beside the table, "you can't go! I won't allow it."

Jungkook starts trying to stutter out some sort of explanation, but he can't get around this anymore. Guilt is filling up him up, but there's a little hint of something else. Something he hasn't felt in a long time.

"It's just... I really, really want to go dad... a-all the others are going, and there are so many nice things we are going to do-"

"Jungkook, do you even know what's going to happen if you loose control? Your wolf doesn't give a shit about humans, he'll rip the first one he lies his eyes on without hesitation!" Jin yells slightly. He needs Jungkook to understand what kind of a risk it would be to go on this trip.

"Taehyung's there! He can stop me, I won't hurt anyone!" Jungkook fights back, also raising his voice.

It isn't often they fight where they are straight up yelling at each other...

"You can't put that kind of responsibility on someone else's shoulders Jungkook! What if something happens and he can't stop you? He would feel guilty as hell-"

"That won't happen, I know my wolf he would never hurt Taehyung," Jungkook spits.

"But he sure as hell will ignore him if he gets the chance... Jungkook you're not going!" Jin yells, this time pointing at his son to underline his point. He needs Jungkook to understand.

"I'm going," Jungkook says.

"No. You won't! You were even planning on running away? Are you insane, I would be worried to death-"

"Then stop being so worried all the time! I'm an adult, I can take care of myself," Jungkook says, pure anger filling his eyes.

For once, he wants something new and good in his life. He really wants to go to Busan, it could be a huge step for his and Taehyung's relationship. Not to mention the new friendship he has built with the other guys.

"As long as you are under my roof, you live by my rules!" Jin yells, his face totally stuck in a expression of anger.

"You can't control me," Jungkook says.

"That's one of the few things I can Jungkook! I can calm you down, don't you understand how dangerous it's going to be without me there?" Jin explains.

"I don't care! I have my mate, I'll be fine!" the words burn in both of their ears as the discussion gets more and more heated. It's just some stupid trip so why... why are they fighting like this?

"No! You'll not be fine! You better listen to me or I'll-"

"Sit down, omega."

As if Jin got punched in the stomach by the strongest boxer on earth, the order travels through his veins and makes his blood run cold by the second. He can feel his body shake as the dominance of the pure-blood voice sets his body totally out of function.

Pure-blood voice. So strong that's it's filling every inch of the small living room.

With eyes blown wide and a indescribable pain in his chest, Jin's shaking self falls to the floor in a matter of seconds.

He bows all the way down for the pure-blood. His leader.

There's nothing his body can do. Never could he fight back against that voice. The voice Jungkook has never used against him. As in never.

The insanely strong spell that was thrown over his body immedietly gets lifted and he feels how he can slowly breathe again. The power this wolf before him holds is beyond words.

Jungkook looks down at his father with his mouth open in shock. He just ordered his father with his alpha voice.

It's extremely rare and also very rude to use your dominant voice in human form against another wolf. Back in the day, it was different, but with the society they live in, it's basically a crime. You must not force anyone to do anything.

Jungkook has done it before in his wolf form, but never in human. This means he was the one who did it. Not his wolf. When it's their wolf, everyone knows it's because of instinct and it isn't possible to control. But in human form it's just different.

As if on impulse, Jungkook's system gets filled with another kind of guilt as he jumps from his chair and runs towards the staira. On the way, he grabs the bag and the tickets. He runs down and outside without looking back, the tears stinging in the back of his eyes.

Jin slowly lifts his head that was pressing against the floor barely seconds ago, feeling how a sudden head ache enters unannounced.

He stares ahead for what seems like hours before he finally let's the tears go.

Oh his son. His dear, only son just ran away from him.
