Bonus #5 + Tips

HEY FRIENDS 💓

Long time no see! Sorry, this will not be the Namjin bonus I promised, I will save that for later because a lot of you requested some tips on writing and I need some time to figure out what to write in the Namjin chap💓 But I wanted to add a short bonus as well for those who doesn't write but just enjoy reading on wp!🙏

Thanks for reading, I promise the Namjin bonus is in the making!

[After chapter 57 (a.k.a. When taekook did the ~ deed ~)]

_______

Taehyung gently closes the door as Jungkook gets out of sight, ready to head home after a rather... interesting night. Taehyung still can't fully believe that actually happened.

He bites his lip in order to surpress a smile and his heart beats fast with nothing but love.

He loves Jungkook... Jungkook loves him?

It all seems too damn good to be true, but nevertheless it's a part of Taehyung's life. Oh, so blessed he is.

Taehyung seems to get so lost in his own thoughts that he doesn't even realize the head of his mother appearing in the kitchen door.

"Um, Taehyung?"

No response.

"Taehyung sweety..."

Taehyung flinches a little and blinks, looking over at his mother confused. He really got lost in another world for a moment there. The pain in his back when he turns makes it terribly clear that he's back on earth though. He holds in a small hiss and looks at his mother, "what is it?"

"Why's there untouched food in the oven?"

Oh. Right. They totally forgot to eat yesterday! So lame, even when they spend so long making it.

Taehyung feels his cheeks heat up and he immediately rushes inside the kitchen. As expected the food looks fine, it's just cold now. Some of the advantages of having an automatic oven is that it doesn't burn the food. Still kind of a waste they didn't get to eat it.

"You were too busy, huh?" Taehyung's mother smirks as she puts her hands in her sides, giving her son a knowing look. Mr. Kim, who was just minding his own business, looks over the top of his newspaper with hesitant eyes.

"Mom!" Taehyung whines and hides his face in his hands, "don't say it like that."

"Mmm he treated you real good didn't h-"

Taehyung smacks a hand over his mother's mouth to stop whatever ridiculous sentence she was about to finish. Personality wise, mrs. Kim is like a 20 year old still going fresh and she doesn't hide this matter for her son. She wants in on all the details.

"Well," mr. Kim shuts the newspaper and stands up, "grandma is waiting."

What a savior, Taehyung thinks. He looks at his father gratefully as his mother pouts.

"You might be off lightly for now, but mama here doesn't miss out on the tea," she points at him as she starts backing out of the kitchen to go for the front door, her eyes slightly squeezed as if she ready to jump her son if he as much as blinks.

"I'm sure you don't..." Taehyung shakes his head lightly but can't help but feel a small smile appear on his lips.

He's very grateful for his parents, even if they can seem overbearing and clingy at times. Nonetheless, he's glad they took all of this lightly and accepted Jungkook into the family.

If he can be with his mate with his family's approval, there isn't really much more in this world for him to worry about.

________

Yay! Small bonus from a very debated topic about the food in the oven 💀

Now, for the tips! I want to begin by saying that I'm of course not professional in any way and my way of doing stuff might not be the right way. English is not my first language, so what I do might not be correct in the grammar sense either. However, if you do enjoy my writing these tips might be helpfull for you and your stories! 💜

_______

Tip 1:
- Spend a lot of time on your chapters. I know there are chapters that can be boring to write because they are fillers. However, it's often a really good way to make a story good, making sure all chapters are worth the while.

Tip 2:
- Don't use sentences with verbs too many times in a row. Add filling lines and adjektives to make it more visual for the reader.

Most of you probably already do this, so you can skip to the next tip. But if you are completely new to story telling, it might be helpful 💓

Example:

He walks to the table and lifts the book. He takes the book and puts it in his bag. He takes the bag and walks outside the room. He walks down the stairs and out of the door.

What you could do instead:

He walks to the table an lifts the oldfashioned, hard covered book. (<-add line ->) [The front is torn and the pages are filled with dark, damaged spots, but that doesn't change the fact that it holds knowledge that can never lose it's worth.] He takes the book and gently (add adjectives, but not to many in a row!) places it inside his bag, making sure it won't get too damaged on his walk. After that, he heads (if you have used the same word, etc. 'walks' a lot of times, try something a little different (search 'synonyms for walking' on Google if needed)) outside and down the stairs, making sure to shut all the lights and lock the door behind him as he leaves [make sure to close of a topic so it won't be questioned, like etc. I made sure to mention that the oven was automatic in chapter 57 so that people would kind of forget it and it wouldn't levae a 'plothole' (that wasn't the best example, but you get what I mean 😂)].

Of course, there are many ways to do this, but making the text come more alive and be more visual immediately makes it more interesting to read.

Tip 3:
- Don't be scared to write certain things or about certain subjects. Honestly, a lot of the time I can be scared that what I write is too weird or too kinky (for smut), but in the end a lot of readers actually enjoy almost everything that I at first doubted was okay to write.

For example, in my yoonminseok bonus chapter (M), I wrote about double penetration. I was honestly sooo scared people would find it weird or disgusting, but in the end I got really good feedback which of course made me so happy! People are more wild than you think, so don't be afraid.

So, as long as you are inside the guidelines, don't be scared to use your imagination or write what you find interesting/hot.

Tip 4:
- Obviously, think drama into your story at an early stage (most of you probably already do). Drama is important for a story, it doesn't have to be strong angst, but in order to keep your reader interested, having drama is very critical. Even if it's just small things or maybe even with bi-characters, it's gives a good effect.

Examples from my story:

- Drama between Jungkook and Jin, even if it's a Taekook book.
- Drama between Yoonminseok even though they are bi-characters.
- Drama between Jungkook and Taehyung because they are the main ship.
- Drama about Chanyeol being dangerous or not and who he was

So I have parts with bigger drama and smaller drama. Even if the Yoonminseok drama isn't exactly necessary for the main storyline, it's a way to keep the story interesting and give more room to all characters so the reader doesn't get tired of only taekook or jinkook.

Again, there are many ways to do this, but work out good drama and think it through beforehand. It might come in very handy in the end.

Tip 5:
- Make something or someone very important for the main character.

An easy way to really give a person character is by showing their interests. For example in this book, Jungkook loves his skateboard and it plays a major role in most of the story. That added with his creativity. I mixed those two things together in order to make the skateboard a very important item in Jungkook's life an gave it back-story.

That way, you can also create drama and affect the readers emotions. Plus, it gives a red line through the entire story considering the skateboard is the first thing mentioned and later on it's given once again to Jungkook as a gift.

Tip 6:
- Have strong bi-characters.

I know the relationship between the main characters like Taekook is very important, but having strong bi-character relationships can be very important for a longer story as well. In this one, Jin is for example very critical and well written into the storyline. In the end, I actually think most of you readers found Jinkook's relationship more important than taekook's😂

Of course, depending on the story, it's different how the bi-characters are scripted. But make them likeable and work on them the same way as you would do with your main.

Tip 7:
- Read others' work.

Since there are tons of talented writers on this app, getting inspiration from others can be an amazing way to both stay motivated and improve your writing. Getting to know more words and good ways to structure your sentences makes the book better - so the more you read from others, the more different styles you get to see. It also teaches you pace and timing to read other stories.

Also, know that your first book will never be as good as your later ones. That's almost the case for everyone because you learn along the way, but don't give up!

Tip 8:
- Using advanced words is good, but don't overdo it!

Don't you just love writing something with crispy words that you have to look up? I sure do, however it can also become too much. Think of yourself as a reader, because if you don't know the word, it's possible a lot of others don't either. If there are too many advanced words, the readers have to open up Google and check all the time and it can be annoying.

And before you say anything! Remember not everyone here has English as their first language, so be careful with how many advanced words you use. If they fit in, go ahead - but don't make it your main job to search for such words. Instead, use good sentences that are structured well and focus on your plot.

Tip 9:
- This one is a PERSONAL opinion. I honestly hate when characters cry too much or too early.

I mean, crying is very interesting and in many situation it can make me cry too however, if a character cries waaaay to much, it kind of looses it's worth - unless there's a specific trait or the characters crying is a focus point (etc. If the person is younger mentally or if it's the reason for bullying and so on). There really has to be reason or build up behind a character crying.

You can instead write things like 'his eyes started to sting with tears' or 'he forced himself to hold the tears back'. That way, the reader knows that the character is about to cry, but that they are not a crybaby.

Again, this is very personal, and this book is probably the one with the most crying of all my books lmao, so it might be a little hypocritical (I try to add it more because I almost never write about crying, so if you are like me, learn to add it some more as well) - write it however you like!

Tip 10:
- Probably the hardest thing in writing: Pace.

As you know, this book is definitely slowburn. Pacing can do everything for a story and honestly there isn't really an answer on how to do it.

However, writing a chapter and reading through it the day after you finished it might help spotting certain places that are going to fast. If you read through the chapter right after writing it, your brain slows it down because you know the intention behind every line you have written. However, that's not always the case for the reader and it can appear faster than it should.

So if you want to focus on pace, read your chapters over the day after 👏

As mentioned before, reading other stories might help. You can feel their pace and see if it goes too slow or too fast and maybe look at what makes you feel that way.

Tip 10:
- Be original, but don't be afraid to be inspired.

Trying to write something that no one else have written can be extremely hard if not impossible; there are definitely some certain universes, characters or plots that sometimes become very much alike. Not that there's anything wrong with that because most of the time readers actually want to read the same type of stories like; bad boy with nerd / dominant aggressive alpha with soft submassive omega / Mafia boss meeting a person who actually fights back / badboy with mean parents meet bullied boy / and so on.

Those stories are amazing, but there are a lot of them so remember to give it your personal touch. That can be forming the characters a certain way, giving them a special back-story or anything else where you think this is something you did to make the story special. Don't be scared to be inspired and see what others do, but in the end it's only you who can make it special. My example was switching the stereotypes and having a power bottom omega and a shy alpha, which there isn't as many stories with.

Tip 12:
- If you have smut in your story, 👏 make 👏 it 👏 funny 👏

Smut comes in so many different forms and it's insane how people are able to describe something so intimate in such an amazing way. Personally, I enjoy smut the most when there's humor in it. If I have succeeded to do so in my own stories is debatable, because it's definitely not an easy task. But if you have good ideas and good humor, make sure to use it! It will definitely make the smut more enjoyable!

Tip 13:
- This is probably a tip for myself too, but from an outside point of view: work on your grammar

If you, like me, have English as your second language or maybe third language, grammar can be difficult and super annoying to correct. I make so many mistakes in my stories because I just want to keep on writing and writing to get on with the story. However, I would recommend that you go over your chapters if you have the time. Especially if it's a smut chapter, some people easily loose the excitement of smut if there's a lot of grammar mistake.

But don't worry! I make a lot too, but as long as it's possible to get the overall understanding of your story, you can always correct it later.

Tip 14:
- Don't work on too many books at once!

Let's just say, I messed this up soooo bad when I first started writing here on wp. I think I had like 11 books going at the same time, mostly because I had so many ideas and was so eager to write new exciting stories. In the end though, it suddenly got very difficult for me to finish them. But at some point I decided not to upload any new book for a while and finish them all.

Now, I mostly have two unfinished books published at a time so I won't give up half way. Think about yourself and how much stress it would give you to have too many stories going at once. Making a book takes a long time, but don't worry, your ideas won't run away and you will be able to write them all at some point!

Tip 15:
- Don't start a story that you only just got the ideas for.

Okay, this is a very personal one too. But if you have wanted to write, you probably know the feeling of suddenly getting a good idea and wanting to write it right away. However, I have caught myself in making a book build on some random idea I got because I watched a movie or heard a song. In the end, I lost interest for writing that story because it simply hadn't been in my head long enough and it was only in that split second it seemed like an amazing idea. It only came to mind because I was hyped about whatever movie I was watching or wp book I was reading.

I started thinking of soft alpha almost three months before I even decided on how to make the characters. That way I build a lot of scenes in my head I really wanted to be a part of the story and I had enough time to figure out drama etc. without feeling the need to write right away or update the story.

So if you can, write down your ideas and keep them in your head until there's one idea that just won't leave your mind.

Tip 16:
- Don't give up on a story, even if it doesn't have a lot of reads from the start.

Soft alpha grew fast in my case which I'm so grateful for and of course it was a huge motivation to keep updating. However, my story baby for example, was completed before it got 1k or 2k reads. Now, it has a lot more and it went up the tags as soon as I finished it. It can be super demotivating to write and get no reads or comments, and you might think it's because what you write is bad. But often that's not the case at all, most likely people just haven't found you yet! So don't give up and keep writing, someone will find you and support you for your hard work! 💓

Those were some tips, I hope they were helpful just a little. Maybe not, but you decide that 😂

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here!

I missed you guys, it's been a while since I updated! Im working a lot these days, but a lot of stories are in the making! When I finish guardian angel, a new one will be posted - I might spoil a little; it may or may not be an enemies with benefits story 😏

Anywaaaay, I will see you next time for a Namjin bonus or in some of my other stories! I purple you!❤️
