Hull descriptions
TITAN
Titan, true to its name, is a massive and intimidating machine, the lighter (relatively speaking) of the two heavy hulls. Controlling specific locations such as drop zones, sniping locations, and control points is no issue for this gargantuan, and its impressively high power can make sure it stays that way, allowing no one to simply shove them away. A centered turret means that reverse is simply just forward spelled wrong -- no side is more susceptible to injury than the other. The weapon you choose for this hull is fairly important depending on the match; for example, a Titan / Firebird may not be the brightest of choices on large maps. If you're more of a player that takes pride in acting steadfast over more mobile gameplay, then Titan is a perfect choice.
Description in Garage
The name says it all: heavy armor, low top speed, tons of weight and power. A durable hull, ideal for those who want to last longer in skirmishes. Pairs beautifully with long-range guns.
VIKING
A heavier relative of , Viking is the second of the two universal hulls, a somewhat more popular variant of the medium selection. Being fairly inexpensive and quick to access (spare the M2 modification), Viking is a reliable asset of the average tanker's garage, and it pays for itself; almost impossible to flip thanks to its wide shape, low profile, high weight, and centered turret, this hull is the epitome of stability. It has the torque to shove around even some of the heavy hulls and the armor to brazenly charge into them, to boot. While it's not exactly built for racing , a smart Viking user can typically outlast them, using its high lateral acceleration to deftly duck around obstacles and tackle them when they attempt to enter and engage. It should be noted than a turret with medium or infinite range is preferable on this machine, as chasing after light hulls across giant maps isn't quite Viking's cup of tea.
Description in Garage
A real Viking: wide and incredibly stable. Average movement and maneuverability, but enviable armor. Works well with mid and long-range guns.
HORNET
A second tier hull, Hornet is the second of the two light hulls, being the first. While being heavier than its counterpart (except at M2, where they have equal weight), Hornet is more capable of diving into the fray of battle, though it admittedly has a notable speed deficit in comparison to the aforementioned Wasp. The turret is directly centered on the hull, allowing one to fight just as effectively from all sides of the machine. This feature is also responsible for the stalwart stability of the hull, though its lack of traction and high speed leave it prone to sliding off of cliffs and ledges. Its low price and rank unlockability are some of the most desirable in the game, easily the strongest contributors to its wild popularity at ranks both high and low.
Description in Garage
A light hull for those who want above average speed without completely trading off on armor. With its tendency to skid around corners, Hornet is a tough hull to maneuver but is nonetheless very steady. Looks great with any gun.
MAMMOTH
"That Vulcan over there won't stop tickling me." Passive combat is nothing for a Mammoth, sporting the highest durability in the game and keeping players nervous whenever one is nearby. These giants are well known to both snipe targets from a distance with and duke it out up close and personal in CPs everywhere, but it's unlikely you'll find one using a proximity based weapon on anything larger than the aforementioned map. The last of the three hulls with an off-center turret placement, Mammoth too can peek around corners and blast away at targets, but it'll never have to worry about being flipped for readily apparent reasons. The only true deficits of this hull are the low base torque, leaving it capable of being shoved around by even , and its speed, which is mind-gratingly slow even with Speed Boost active.
Description in Garage
There is no match for this one's armor, although your grandmother would beat it in a race. A fortress of a tank, chosen by those who are in no hurry and prefer to shrug off anything the enemy throws at them. Works best with long-range guns.
WASP
The classical light tank, Wasp has been around since the game began. Its weak armour is fully compensated by its great speed and agility, coupled with a compact size that lead many tankers to draw parallels between Wasp and a typical RC car. This speed, while uncontested, can be a double-edged sword when you're making a desperate getaway, where one false keystroke can bowl the tank sideways. On another note, Wasp is one of the three hulls that does not have a centered turret, making peeking from behind buildings a much less risky task, but leaving the hull more unstable if you're utilizing a weapon with recoil. In a nutshell, if you've simply gotta go fast with no strings attached, then look no further than Wasp.
Description in Garage
Fast, with negligible armor. Its high speed and maneuverability take skill to control, but allow it to perform well on cramped maps. Great with short-range guns.
HUNTER
The first hull everyone owns, Hunter is known as one of the two universal hulls, serving as a solid medium between heavy and light hulls. While its brother Viking is more comparable to the likes of Dictator, Hunter has a stronger affinity for lighter hull attributes, such as drifting when Speed Boost is active and being relatively fluid in motion. However, Hunter gets the best of both worlds with a noticeably higher armor rating than the light hulls while still being able to leave every medium hull in the dust by a fair margin. The turret is centered on this hull, and many draw similarities between Hunter and due to their similar control styles. If you're looking for medium hull that can play like a light hull, then why not Hunter?
Description in Garage
An excellent choice for any tanker. It has decent speed for a medium tank and enough armor to handle itself well in battles at any range. Goes well with almost any gun and is a real hunter!
DICTATOR
An oddball of the Tanki Online world, Dictator is one of the more unique hulls the game has to offer. A medium hull that borders the realm of the heavies, Dictator has high torque, mountains of health, and an unusually tall stature. This vantage point is what makes this hull stand out from others, as a turret mounted on this hull can fire over obstacles that other tanks would deem insurmountable. Couple that with the turret's placement on the rear of the tank, and many advantages for hiding locations and firing positions become readily available. However, unless you're crawling around in a Ping-Pong, a mid- to long-ranged weapon does best on Dictator, as it's the slowest of the medium hulls and has a fairly poor acceleration speed.
Description in Garage
An unforgettable hull adored by seasoned clan players, Dictator inspires fear and commands respect. Its height allows it a higher vantage point from which to fire. On the flip side, this makes it a bigger target. It lacks speed, but has multiple armor plates to make up for it. Works well when outfitted with Railgun.
