Chapter 21 {By Ramey}
Rylie's POV
I sat by myself due to me having no friends in this class. The tables were full, everyone had there place besides me. Everyone fit in somewhere besides me.
Maybe I'm better off alone.
A kid stood at the front of the classroom, waiting for the teacher who was holding the door to allow other students in.
The bell rang and the teacher came inside, talking quietly to the tall boy.
"This is Blake. He is coming all the way from America, so give him a warm welcome. Make sure to include him." My teacher, Mrs. Martinez said, "So Blake how about you sit by..." My teacher scanned the room. "Carson!" She pointed to the troublesome boy that I personally hated.
He took a seat next to him and they were already talking.
My teacher gave us some worksheets on Red Shift, Blue Shift, and cosmic radiation.
I began working silently when snickering caught my attention.
I looked at Blake and Carson who were messing around.
I rolled my eyes. This kid was annoying already, and I thought that maybe he would be cool since we're both from America.
I went back to my worksheet when they started laughing again and I sighed.
"Sorry, Blake, I see that you're enjoying yourself, but Carson seems like a bad influence on you. Please take your bag and sit by Rylie. Rylie raise your hand for him." My teacher says and I sighed, but raised my hand in the air.
He trotted over to my table, smacking his things down onto the floor and slumping into his chair.
"Hi, I'm Blake." He says.
Even if he was annoying, I decided to be nice anyways.
"I'm Rylie." I half-smile.
I finally actually looked at him.
He had tan skin, green eyes and black hair, in other words, the complete opposite of me.
He was attractive, that was certain, and I was only more attracted by his MCR tee shirt.
"You know I can understand Australian accents." He says.
"What?" I ask, kind of confused.
"You don't have to speak with an American accent. I can understand you. It's an accent not a foreign language." He says.
I sigh, "I'm American."
"Oh really! What part?" He asks quietly.
"Born in Virginia, then Ohio, then Florida." I explain, not removing my eyes from my worksheet.
"Do you want to hang out after school?" He asks.
"What?" I ask, finally taking my eyes off of my paper.
"You heard me." He said.
"Sorry. I don't really know you. How about I sit with you at lunch?" I ask.
"Good enough for me." He laughs.
After two more loooong periods, our grade's lunch started and I stood at the entrance of the cafeteria, waiting for this stupid boy.
Calum stopped next to me.
"Hey, Rylie. Coming?" He asks.
"Oh no." I say, shaking my head.
"Why not? You always sit with us." He wonders aloud.
"New kid. I promised I'd sit with him." I reply.
"Oh.." Calum seemed disappointed. One day of lunch wouldn't make a difference. Why was he acting like it would? Eventually Blake would be seen by the popular kids and they would pull him in. Then he'd get girls swarming him all because he was attractive.
"Waiting for someone?" Someone taps my shoulder.
I turn around to see Blake smiling down at me.
Calum stood there awkwardly.
Blake looks at Calum.
"Hey sorry, dude, is this your girl?" He asks, "Cause I'm not trying to steal anyone's girl on my first day of school."
"No, we're just friends." I answer for Calum.
I drag Blake away to the outside tables before Calum can embarrass me.
We sit down and I begin to open my lunch bag.
Blake was so interesting. Apparently he was into the same bands I was and played the same video games. He was also good at art and he played bass.
Plus, he's cute. What more could I ask for?
Eventually the bell rang, and I went to my next period which eventually led to my free period.
I left the parking lot in my car, and headed off to baseball practice. There was a car next to me that seemed to be following me, but I didn't think much of it.
I parked in the baseball parking lot and the same car that was following me parked too.
I quickly got out of my car with my baseball bag and ran to the dressing room, not wanting any trouble with the potential stalker.
After putting on my clothes, I grabbed my blue and black bat and matching mitt, stepping out onto the field to see someone new.
It was him, Blake. He must've been the one following me.
Everyone was storming him with questions.
I knew it. Getting sucked in with the popular kids.
"Rylie!" He exclaimed, walking over to me through the small crowd.
"Hi, Blake." I smile and adjust my baseball cap.
"I didn't know you were on this team." He states.
"It's your first day. Why should you?" I ask, shifting the weight onto my other foot.
He shrugs.
"What team are you on?" I ask.
"Your team. I thought we went over this." He says, confused.
I laugh. "No, red or blue team. Y'know how the team splits up to practice?"
"Oh! Red team," He smiles, blushing a little on his nose.
"Oh. I'm blue team." I smirk. I was going to whoop his ass.
"Interesting." He smirks.
"Indeed." I reply.
"Let's make a bet. Whichever one of us wins has to buy the other one ice cream." He suggests.
"Deal." I say.
The coach told us to get in place and I lined up at the batting cage, standing in 4th place.
Everyone ahead of me had made their hits besides my friend, Jessica. She ended up letting go of the bat and it hit her in the back of the neck, she ended up having to get ice for it. So that was one strike.
It was my turn.
I hit it first try, which even I was impressed by.
I bolted to first base, waiting a few seconds to see if the next person ran, and they did.
I got to second base before the pitcher got the ball, restricting me to run.
My friend Lukas hit it third try because of him messing around.
I ran to third base and then looked at home. There was Blake standing with his mitt in the air.
I could still make it.
I didn't freeze for even a second, I just ran as fast as my legs could take me towards the dirty-white diamond mat.
The ball was in the air coming towards Blake's mitt and I dove, sticking my right leg out and touching to mat, but I couldn't see.
Due to me sliding, a puff of auburn dirt surrounded me and I coughed.
Once the dust cleared, everyone could see my foot on the mat and clapped.
I laughed and stood up.
"Good job, kid." Blake smirked though I could see that he obviously wanted the point.
I took a seat on the bench and watched the rest of the game.
We had only gotten to two fouls when we got to 9 points and we haven't even switched. This meant mercy. Where the game was over and we were victorious.
"Well, well, look who won!" I laughed jumping around Blake. "I like mint chocolate chip by the way." I smirk.
"I was hoping you'd win." He smiled at me.
"Whatever you say." I roll my eyes.
"No, really. I wanted to buy you ice cream. You're cute." He smiled down at me and stared straight into my eyes with his forest green ones.
"Thanks but I'm not going for a relationship." I laugh. "Now buy me ice cream."
"Okay." He laughed.
I follow him to his car and he opened the door for me.
"Oh, I drove my car here." I stretch out my words.
"Oh, c'mon. You shouldn't have to waste gas somewhere I want to take you." He replies.
I mean, I could walk here tomorrow morning to pickup my car. It's only half a block away.
"Alright." I decide, hopping into the passenger side.
He drove us to Baskin Robins and I ended up getting a mint chocolate chip milkshake and he got a cone of Sour Patch Kid ice cream.
We went outside and sat down on the curb.
"You're so basic." He chuckles.
"I'm a basic girl." I shrug, taking a sip of my milkshake.
"No, you're not. Just try some better ice cream." He says.
"No, I quite frankly like my basic ice cream." I laugh.
He shoved the ice cream into my face, getting it on my nose.
"Hey!" I laughed.
"Sorry." He smiled and wiped it off of my nose with his sleeve.
"It's fine." I shrug.
We were silent for a few minutes. Just enjoying our ice cream.
I examined him.
I looked closer at the hat he was wearing. It was Red on the sides with white in the middle.
He had pins attached to the bill.
I spotted a Panic! At The Disco pin and my inner fangirl was screaming...and so was I.
"Oh my god I love your Panic! pin!" I exclaimed.
He was confused at first, but then took off his hat.
"You want it?" He asks. (A/n: I hate him, Ramey)
"No, no, no, I was just saying." I laugh.
"No, you're keeping it." He says, pinning it on me swiftly.
I looked down at its new spot on my shirt pocket and smiled.
"Thanks." I say.
He nods.
"The sun is starting to set. Want me to drop you off at home?" He asks.
"No, thanks. I live a few minutes from here. I'll just walk." I shrug.
"If you say so." He shrugs.
I walk home with a stupid grin on my face.
I entered my house and went upstairs to my room, flipping onto my bed and checking my phone.
Calum: Hey who was that guy?
Calum: He seems nice.
Calum: Talk to me whenever you can please. (:
All from Calum.
I decided not to answer them and just head to sleep.
