Riley woke up to Ricky shouting at her.

Ricky- "RILEY!! RILEY!! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! YOU NEED TO GET UP!! WHY AREN'T YOU UP?!"

Riley- "Ricky!! Be quiet! I am up! Okay? What time is it?"

Ricky- "Uhh, 6!"

Riley- "Okay. Why did you wake me though?"

Ricky- "Because it is dinner time!"

Riley- "Then you should have just told me right away."

Right then, Ricky runs out of the room.

"Well, I guess I have to get up!" Riley said to herself.

Once the family was done with dinner, it was 6:35. Riley told her parents that she was going to get ready. As she was getting ready, she got very excited. She thought, 'I am 14, I should be able to go out. That is why I am doing this. It will be okay.' After she was ready, she helped clean up from dinner. Once it was 6:55, she said that she was going to leave.

Rachel- "Okay, hun, don't do anything stupid."

Riley- "Okay. Got it!"

Rob- "Oh! Be home by dark!"

Riley- "Okay. See you guys later."

While Riley was on her way to the park, she texted Nathan.

Riley- "Hey"

Nathan- "Hey!"

Riley- "Are you at the park, or are you on your way?"

Nathan- "I just got here. I am near the front parking lot next to the trail."

Riley- "Okay. I'll be there in like a minute or two. See you soon!"

Nathan- "Okay. See you soon!"

When Riley got there, she saw Nathan almost immediately. He walked up to her and hugged her.

Nathan- "Hey!! How are you?"

Riley- "Good! Better now. You?"

Nathan- "Same. It is okay to hug you, right?

Riley- "Yes, just not if there is any chance of my parents being around."

Nathan- "Do they not know anything about me?"

Riley- "They know some stuff about you, like how you look and that I like you, but they don't know I text you or anything like that."

Nathan- "Wow! Want to go to the lake?"

Riley- "Uh, sorry, but please, no. I am in a wheelchair. Last time I was near water in a wheelchair, I fell into the water. I am sorry. How about... oooo! I know a secret place we can go. Follow me!"

They walked to the edge of the woods, and looked at Nathan.

Riley- "See anything?"

Nathan- "No..."

Riley then moved a rock.

Riley- "Anything now?"

Nathan- "Uh, yeah! Wow!"

Riley- "Want to go?"

Nathan- "Yes!!"

The two went in a room that was under a rock. It had food, drinks, some seats, and a pile of pillows, that they obviously sat on.

Riley- "Like it?"

Nathan- "Yes! How did you find this?"

Riley- "The park had a competition to see who could find this space first, and the winning person could keep it, so I entered and found it nearly right away."

Nathan- "Wow!"

Riley- "Yeah"

Nathan- "So... how old do you have to be to date?"

Riley- "Uh, my parents haven't told me. I think I'd be able to at least soon if I can't now. You?"

Nathan- "Me too. Do you have any siblings?"

Riley- "Yes. One little brother. You?"

Nathan- "I have an older sister and a younger brother. How old is your brother and what is his name?"

Riley- "His name is Ricky and he is 11. You?"

Nathan- "My sister's name is Nicole and she is 16, and my brother's name is Noah and he is 12."

Riley- "Nice! I bet Noah and Ricky would get along well because of age, and depending on how he is."

Nathan- "Oh, Noah? He is nuts!"

Riley- "They'd get along great then!"

Nathan- "Haha! So, when is your birthday?"

Riley- "Well, actually, it was just a few days ago. You?"

Nathan- "Wow! Happy late birthday, then! My birthday is November 6th."

Riley- "Nice! What is your favorite color?"

Nathan- "Uh, probably blue. You?"

Riley- "Probably blue as well."

Nathan- "Umm, I have a question for you."

Riley- "Okay, what is it?"

Nathan- "I just want you to know that I hope this is okay to ask and I don't want to end this friendship."

Riley- "Oh, come on! It is fine. What's the question?"

Nathan- "Okay. Do you want to be my girlfriend?"

Riley was shocked when he asked her. Her eyes got huge. All that came out of her mouth was, "Uuuuh."

Nathan- "Do you not want to date?"

Riley-"No, that's not it. I-I-. Ugh!"

Nathan- "What's wrong?"

Riley- "Umm, well, it's kind of complicated."

Riley got tears in her eyes and looked sad.

Nathan- "Well, I wanted to come here with you to get to know you better, so it would be a good time to tell me. If you don't feel comfortable telling me, then it is okay."

Riley- "Alright. First, I didn't think you could ever like me because of how 'cool' and popular you are,-"

Nathan- "But you are one of the most popular girls in the school!"

Riley- "Yeah, but still. Then, when I got injured, I thought there would be no chance, and then people were being mean, and I thought you'd see that and think I was weird or something."

Nathan- "So you don't want to be my girlfriend?"

Riley- "Of course I do! I am trying to say that I am happy, but I thought you'd never want to date or like me. I am just so happy!"

Nathan- "So you do want to date?"

Riley- "Yes! I am just not too sure if my parents would even allow that."

Nathan- "I could walk you home and talk to them if you want."

Riley- "NO!"

Nathan- "Why?"

Riley- "They think I'm out with Jess. And it is almost dark. I have to get home."

Nathan- "Oh, that's right! I just wanted to say, I love talking to you! You are great! I hope we can be together. How about tomorrow you can say we talked at school, and then ask if we can date?"

Riley- "I love talking to you too! I will ask tomorrow, unless I don't leave right now! If I get home late, they'll know something is up. I have to go. Bye! See you tomorrow!"

Riley hugged Nathan.

Nathan- "Okay. I love your hugs! See you tomorrow! Bye!"

Riley- "I love your hugs too! Bye!
