Chapter 4
Next, a man came up holding a very pale child. It's skin was as white as snow and its eyes were red with curiosity. The man held up the albino infant so that Wren could hold it. She saw its eyes follow hers as she slightly combed her fingertips through the icy white hair.
"I thought I told you to take off this order," She suddenly said pushing the baby aside. She looked at the doctor who handed it to her as she waited for a reply impatiently.
"We're truly sorry, but she was already in development when we tried to take the DNA out. We didn't have chance, unless you wanted to kill her," The doctor explained as he picked the baby up carefully. The white child's eyes started to water as she saw her mother push her away even more.
"I don't want this one, you can have her," Wren said as she turned her head away with anger. She saw the baby and the doctor leave the room as she glanced back one last time. All the doctors had anger and sadness all over their faces. Why would she do such a thing to a little baby? Who wouldn't want her? To some of the doctors, she was the best out of all because of her personality.
"Uhh... Here's the next one miss Wren," replied a doctor who tried to break the awkward and meaningless silence. He lifted up a tan infant with the darkest of all hair; it wasn't black though. It's blue eyes shone brightly against her large ears and shiney claws.
"Yes! My long-haired domesticated cat is here! She will be known for taming beast 4 times larger than herself! This should be easy for your name. I was thinking Julia, for your jewel colored eyes. They are cat-eyes, but the prettiest of all blues.
Julia squeaked as she was patted on the head by her mother. She was set down into a light blue crib with a pink blanket; just like a sunset. She ruffled her hair so it was curlier than it was before. She closed her bright eyes and went to sleep in a snap.
The baby show off is almost over; there are two more to go!
A nurse walked up and plopped down a lighter skinned child. He had a long, pink tail, Wider ears, and he had claws. The boy opened his mouth with a yawn and Wren noticed that he had buck teeth.
"Oh yes!" She shouted happily, "My Rat explorer! You will find unknown places and make many things with the new land! I can count on you!" Wren said as she looked at his skinny tail all around.
"Your name will be something simple, but amazingly describable! How about, Owen, Yes that's it! My little Owen!" Owen tried to clap with applause at Wrens choice, or at least that's what she thought. He scratched his face with his tiny claws, and he twitched his big ears as the doctor set him down in a dark teal crib.
"This last one made it hard for us," Said a doctor as he continued to explain, "It was very hard to craft the DNA of this animal. She might be the best, but also the most dangerous. You must be extremely careful with her, do you understand?" asked the doctor as a nurse pushed through the crowd.
"Yes, yes, I understand everything, I promise that I will be very careful with this one around. She is the youngest too!" Wren replied as her face turned with a tint of red of happiness.
When the nurse finally made it through the crowd, she held the most amazing thing Wren had ever seen in her life! The little infant had claws as sharp as fangs, her eyes glowing yellow, and her feather covered tail swishing back and forth.
"OH, I never knew that the DNA bottle would be so accurate! Even with a thing that has gone extinct over millions of years ago!" Wren shouted with joy as she picked up the baby and pet its feathers in her head. The doctors and nurses stared at the child longer than Wren had; their gazes were locked onto the child.
"I know exactly what to call her, Lenis. That is a beuatiful name, it matches your colors and everything on you. My, my Lenis, you will do all the things that the raptors have done, but for me!" Wren explained as she twirled the infant around in the air.
Lenis had everything that a velociraptor had. She had feathers on her arms, legs, head, tail, and only the smallest parts of her body had just plain light-and-peachy skin. She had a slit nose and she had a longer face, as if it were a muzzle. She also had curly ginger hair with many long feathers sticking out of her head. She was set down into a light brown crib next to Owen.
Wren thought that her life would be perfect with these children, but that isn't the storm that is coming.
