Chapter 2
Next, there was another boy; very blond, but this time a little more curls. He had small blackish-brown spots imprinted on his skin, had claws, his face was also shaped like a cat's muzzle; not full though. The doctor than put him down in his cramped crib.
"He must be the cheetah! Your name is Jack, and you will be known for the next all world race winner! I'll be filthy rich with these kids!" Wren said happily as she looked for the next child. The doctors and nurses looked at each other as she shouted the statement out loud; some of them had regret on their faces, but Wren didn't pay any attention to them. Then, doctor brought up a large water container and inside, there was a girl. She had gills like a fish, fins on her arms and legs, and had dirty-blonde medium curly hair. She opened her yellow eyes and stared upon her mother, she turned around and Wren saw that she had a fishtail! So did Jack, but Alek didn't have a tail.
"Ah, yes, my beautiful rainbow trout, you will be the most glamorous of all!" Wren explained as she pressed her face up to the glass. Wren thought of a name for the child for a moment, then picked up her head,"That's it! Your name will be Amora, my little rainbow fish girl!" Amora was set down into a crib, but filled with water; it was the same size as the other cribs.
"So, when she gets older, she will breath air, right?" Wren asked. She looked up at the doctor as he shook his head slightly in agreement. Amora giggled as she swarmed around in her new crib, and stared at the next child curiously. This infant was smaller than the others and it was a female.
"We were afraid that this one wouldn't make it, but she pulled through," Said the woman holding baby as it clutched to her blanket tightly. She had big pointed ears and a spiked nose. The nurse turned her around and Wren saw bat wings attached to her human arms. She had many freckles on her face and dark ruffled hair. The girl yawned tiredly and stayed attached to the nurse as she tried to hand her to the mother. They all laughed as she seemed to be very fond of the woman holding her.
"It looks like this one will need a special crib too, it has a spot where she can hang from the top if she likes," A doctor said pointing to the grey crib in the darkest corner. Wren accepted and tried to think of a new and soon-to-be-famous name. All of the sudden, she perked up her head and shouted, "I got It!"
The doctors listened closely as they waited for Wren to say the name of the bat child.
"Her name will be Bailey. She will the most interesting one yet!" Bailey still clutched onto the nurse who was holding her, she yawned and tucked her head into her bat wings. As she finally got tired enough to be put down, the doctors awed one last time as the person put her to sleep. She carefully tucked her in a blanket inside the dark crib, not even a cricket would disrupt this moment.
